About

Country singer John Michael Montgomery has been treating fans to his earnest, heartfelt music for over 20 years. With 18 million albums sold and 15 No. 1 singles, Montgomery has established a style rooted in his impassioned delivery, wonderful storytelling and rich baritone voice. A ticket to a Montgomery concert is like a chance to reconnect with an old friend. The singer tells stories and plays songs that span his entire career, from early hits like his 1993 crossover success, “I Swear,” through more recent tracks, like "Forever" and "Mad Cowboy Disease" off his 2008 album, Time Flies. He even throws in some more recent work, like his 2013 collaboration with Colt Ford, Ride Through The Country, which also featured Ronnie Dunn and Joe Diffie.

Montgomery’s career started back in the early 1990s, playing dive bars in his hometown of Danville, Kentucky, until the day Nashville came calling. With the release of his 1992 debut album, Life’s A Dance, Montgomery immediately rocketed into country superstardom, with a No. 1 hit, “I Love the Way You Love Me," which a considered a timeless country classic. He followed it up with "I Swear" and the whimsical "Sold (The Grundy County Auction Incident)," which were the Billboard Country Singles Of The Year for 1994 and 1995, respectively. Montgomery also showed his serious side with powerful numbers like "The Little Girl," a song he wrote for his daughter, and 2004’s "Letters From Home," his tribute to the troops, featuring actual recordings of soldiers' messages to their families. Recent years have seen Montgomery slow down a bit, but he will be going on tour throughout the US in 2014 and has recently announced that new music is on its way.

    Downhill

by Zig1234 on 3/1/10Ho Chunk Casino - Baraboo

I'm really sorry to see that I believe he's on the downhill of his singing career. The concert was only one hour, he talked extensively between each song. He was winded after his first song as well. Very disappointing evening.

    JMM at Snoqualmie

    by tempusfugate on 7/23/09Snoqualmie Casino-Ballroom - Snoqualmie

The venue is really intimate and he did a great job of interacting with and managing a rowdy crowd in such a close space. He performed all the hits we love (my favorite "Life's a Dance) and jammed quite a bit for the encore. Definitely I would see him again!

After all these years the man can shred his fender to some rock and roll. and play his lovely ballads without missing a beat.

    Mixed on Montgomery

    by Washmon8 on 7/21/09Snoqualmie Casino-Ballroom - Snoqualmie

The first part of the concert was great with John Michael doing the songs we all came to hear. The second part, the encore, was not so good. John Michael went into a rock venue playing 2 songs endlessly, one Turn The Page and the other I think may have been a Jimi Hendrix tune. They both had shades of Hendrix guitar playing causing a number of people to get up and leave. There were some popular John Michael songs he didn't do. That would have been a much better alternative John Michael, your fans are country fans not Hendrix fans. Stick to country music because you're great.

    JMM still amazing!

    by Pepper64 on 7/20/09Snoqualmie Casino-Ballroom - Snoqualmie

I was unsure at first when he got on the stage, thinking could this really be the JMM that I've listened to forever. He sang a great mix of new and old songs, just can't believe he's been singing for so long now! Great voice for most of his songs, voice went out a little when hitting some notes and amazing at all the others! Definitely would go again!

MY SON & I WENT TO CELEBRATE HIS BIRTHDAY. WE BOTH ENJOYED THE SHOW IMMENSLY. THE VENUE IS GREAT AND JOHN MICHAEL IS STILL AS HOT AS EVER. THE BAND BEHIND HIM IS EXTREMELY TALENTED. WE SANG ALONG WITH EVERY SONG, EXCEPT WHEN HE GOT IN A ZONE ON GUITAR. IT WAS A PERFECT CONCERT, AND WE HAD AN AWESOME TIME.

JMM brought back lots of wonderful memories

    by geomom on 7/18/09Snoqualmie Casino-Ballroom - Snoqualmie

This was a show I have been looking forward to for a very long time. His voice was a little raspy, and he had a hard time getting the lyrics out a few times, but all in all it was very good. He played songs from his early days, but only one from his latest album. When he came back out for his one and only encore, he only played covers of rock and roll songs. It sounded great, but it was disappointing to me because there were more of his earlier songs I would have loved to hear - "Friends, What I Do The Best, Dream on Texas Ladies, Cover you in Kisses, Holdin' On To Something, Heaven Sent Me You" - JMM's voice still melts me, he will always be my favorite county artist, and I would pay to see him again. Next time though, I would love to hear even more of his own songs.

by cookiedoe on 7/14/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

This was about the 20th concert of John Michael Montgomery's that I have been to and he just keeps getting better and better. I love going to his concerts because they are never the same no matter how many times I see him. I go every time I can. My goal is to eventually make it to the front row. He puts on a great show. I would recommend going if you ever get the chance he always puts on a great concert!
