About

Country singer John Michael Montgomery has been treating fans to his earnest, heartfelt music for over 20 years. With 18 million albums sold and 15 No. 1 singles, Montgomery has established a style rooted in his impassioned delivery, wonderful storytelling and rich baritone voice. A ticket to a Montgomery concert is like a chance to reconnect with an old friend. The singer tells stories and plays songs that span his entire career, from early hits like his 1993 crossover success, “I Swear,” through more recent tracks, like "Forever" and "Mad Cowboy Disease" off his 2008 album, Time Flies. He even throws in some more recent work, like his 2013 collaboration with Colt Ford, Ride Through The Country, which also featured Ronnie Dunn and Joe Diffie.

Montgomery’s career started back in the early 1990s, playing dive bars in his hometown of Danville, Kentucky, until the day Nashville came calling. With the release of his 1992 debut album, Life’s A Dance, Montgomery immediately rocketed into country superstardom, with a No. 1 hit, “I Love the Way You Love Me," which a considered a timeless country classic. He followed it up with "I Swear" and the whimsical "Sold (The Grundy County Auction Incident)," which were the Billboard Country Singles Of The Year for 1994 and 1995, respectively. Montgomery also showed his serious side with powerful numbers like "The Little Girl," a song he wrote for his daughter, and 2004’s "Letters From Home," his tribute to the troops, featuring actual recordings of soldiers' messages to their families. Recent years have seen Montgomery slow down a bit, but he will be going on tour throughout the US in 2014 and has recently announced that new music is on its way.

    Awesome singer and performer

by Glory on 11/13/23Treasure Island Resort & Casino - WELCH

I have been a John Michael Montgomery fan since his first hit and have every single one of his CDs. This is the first time I've had the opportunity to go see him live in concert and my image of him has not changed -- he's awesome and so is his band -- especially the long-haired one that was so great at drawing attention to ALL the players in the band! I love the way JMM conducts himself, a true gentleman and fun. What was disappointing was there were a couple ladies, especially one, in front of us that stood up almost the whole night while everyone else was seated, and made it extremely difficult to see over her. I felt that staff should have been managing those types of people and make them sit down so everyone can enjoy watching the performance. That was so inconsiderate and could have been avoided if staff had stepped in to stop it. I also felt bad that JMM guitar picks weren't available to more in attendance. Perhaps as a courtesy, handing one out to each as they left the concert instead of a handful in the front being greedy and taking all of them. The convenience of being able to scan the barcodes for admission was great. I always worry that my phone won't have a good enough connection, but it was fine.

    Amazing!

by Alicia on 10/26/23Family Arena - Saint Charles

We had seats upfront in the 2nd row. Amazing view and amazing price for so close to the stage! I'm sure this has nothing to do with your arena, but the only things we thought were unimpressive was the John Michael Montgomery merchandise and his presence after the show. He only had tee-shirts to buy and nothing else. My daughter who is 15 years old was super excited to see him. I'm sure there are not many teenagers who would go and pay for a concert of his. She had a sold sign for him to signature. He did not come out to meet anyone after the show. We even sent her sign with someone on stage to take back for him to sign. He brought it back with no signature. How do you expect to keep your legendary presence to live on if you don't reach out to your younger crowd? #letdownbylegend

I really loved the show. Loved McBride and the Ride. JMM put on excellent show he knows how to interact with his fans. I went to the show hoping it would help me with my grief of losing my husband on the 4th of July. His show really helped. Thank you JMM.

    GREAT SHOW

by GOMOCO on 10/24/23Family Arena - Saint Charles

We enjoyed the show very much. Loved that it started on time. Consessions were good. I wish the seats we picked would have said partial obstructed view when we bought them. They did allow us to move to better seats.

    Terrible seating

by RocnDach on 10/23/23Family Arena - Saint Charles

Loved the concert, however, the seating is terrible. Knees are above your hips, which is not beneficial to your posture. Most of the attendees were middle to upper aged, so I'm sure this was not very comfortable for them, including myself and husband. Even when you stood up to let someone go through to their seats, there was hardly any room to move (imagine someone's butt brushing the front of you) that's how close it was. I would never recommend this venue to anyone. Will never go there again.

Great Job by John Michael Montgomery

by John on 10/23/23Family Arena - Saint Charles

Loved the concert in regards to how well John did.. The man was great even after 20-30 years being away from the scene. His voice was still the same and it resonated around the building. That was a credit to the building that it didn't drown out the sound like the Enterprise or dome will do in certain areas. I would prefer to see more of these 90's-00 acts come back to venues like the Family arena. I don't mind seeing some of the new guys but these guys and there style of country need to come back. I didn't find out about the concert until last week and I jumped on the opportunity to see him. I was a bit upset how quickly the concessions closed. They were shutting down early and a lot of people still wanted drinks halfway through the concert.

JMM sang many of his number one hits and he sounded just like the recordings. I would recommend to anyone if John Michael Montgomery brings a concert to your town that you immediately get your tickets for any evening you won't forget.

    Great Show

by agnesb54 on 10/23/23Family Arena - Saint Charles

My husband has been a fan of McBride & the Ride since the 90's and they did not disappoint. He said they sounded just like they did back when they started. We loved their music. The only negative is that the background sound was a bit too loud during the harmonizing as their voices were a bit hard to hear. Otherwise, the show was fantastic! They were a great start to John Michael Montgomery whom we also enjoyed. He is a great singer. We love the smaller venue at the Family Arena.
