John Butler Trio, Missy Higgins & The Waifs, together for a special evening of music under the stars in Brisbane.
Three of Australia’s most captivating live bands, John Butler Trio, Missy Higgins & The Waifs, will come together exclusively for their Brisbane fans for a unique night of music under the stars. This special concert event will take place in the picturesque surrounds of the Brisbane Riverstage on Sunday January 31st.
Each band holds a deep mutual respect for one another and are thrilled to come together to perform on the same stage. It has been over a decade since these three artists have shared a stage together. The last time being 2005’s “Wave Aid” Tsunami Relief concert at the Sydney Cricket Ground which raised millions of dollars for the communities who suffered from the tragic Boxing Day Tsunami event in Asia.
The John Butler Trio has spent 2015 doing exactly what they do best, touring their socks off introducing their current album ‘Flesh & Blood’ to fans around the world. They continue to carve out bigger audiences globally as they perform through a combination of headline shows and festivals including Bonnaroo , Lollapalooza , Rock En Seine and Fuji Rock to name a few. This will be JBT’s first Riverstage performance since their phenomenal show in September 2010 and it will be one of their last for Australian fans before they head back into the studio later in 2016.
Over the last decade Missy Higgins has become one of our most beloved singer/songwriters. In September 2014, she released her fourth studio album ‘OZ’, an eclectic mix of Aussie cover versions also accompanied by a quirky book of related essays. Missy recently announced her first tour since the birth of her beautiful baby boy earlier this year, she will perform a select series of concerts in 2016.
With their superb 7th studio album ‘Beautiful You’ receiving rave reviews, The Waifs recent show at The Triffid sold out. Brisbane fans who missed out get a second chance to witness the magic of Australia's favourite folk band. ‘Beautiful You’ has been nominated for 3 ARIA Awards including Best Blues and Roots Album. The emotionally raw but musically buoyant album demonstrates the easy chemistry that has bound The Waifs, as well as celebrating the depth of song writing talent they have at their disposal.
Last week both the John Butler Trio and Missy Higgins announced their own standalone shows for Sydney’s Taronga Zoo Twilight series - both shows sold out within minutes. Queenslanders you’d best get your skates on if you want to catch JBT along with Missy Higgins and The Waifs this summer!

Meet and greet was awesome such an amazing person! He truly cares about making it a unique experience! He described what went on in his own life and you can see how it affects his music and even how he got his styles of guitar from (influencers). Definitely would do it again!! Go JBT!!! Awesome show!!!!

This show was really so fantastic. There honestly isn't a bad "seat" in the house and by that I mean it is standing room only on the main floor and that is ok because you are so close to the stage all the time! John Butler was FANTASTIC! The band, his voice and his charisma were electric. I love seeing him at this venue and go every year :)
JOHN BUTLER TRIO hands down the best concert ive ever been too. Easily the best guitarist, showman, and human being to walk this earth today. Unforgettable. Nothing will ever top that show.

We had only listened to the John Butler Trio a handful of times before going to the show. Friends raved about how great they were in past shows, and they weren’t wrong. So happy we had a chance to see them perform!
The show was great. The musicians in the John Butler Trio were talented and had a positive vibe. I love the venue but rated it average because I wish it could be cleaner.
I was first introduced to the John Butler Trio at The Vibes in Bridgeport CT. His music captured my soul and I have been a disciple ever since. To see John Butler at such an intimate venue was worth the 250 mile road trip. His music is both dynamic and mesmerizing. His duo with Mama Kin of "Losing You" was an unexpected gift.
I found out about the band about 5 months before and fell instantly in love. Though they didn’t play the two songs that introduced me to them, they more than made up for it. The things they can do with guitars are just mesmerizing. First JBT concert but definitely not my last.

John Butler Trio is one of my all time favorite bands. This was the third time I’ve seen them live and I was still blown away. Great energy, great jams, and packed with a ton of fans. JBT does not disappoint
MUST see show. John took a couple of songs to get warmed up this concert, but totally fed off the crowd and then the crowd off of him. It was a fantastic show!
