A great family outing. We celebrated my daughters 19th birthday. It was great seeing the diversity in the performance.
It took me over 50 years to finally see a live Nutcracker and it was worth the wait. Thanks for the magic, Joffrey Ballet.
I was so excited to see The Nutcracker on opening night! It was incredible! Set was amazing, and the dancing was unbelieveable! Go see it this holiday!
I'm not a ballet fan so the whole second half was a little boring for me. Great music though! Would recommend to anyone who enjoys ballet.
The dancing was spectacular! The first half was amazing. I don't really care for the new version of Nutcracker - the story is lost and we don't see the Nutcracker much in the 2nd half.
The Joffery Ballets Nutcracker was simply stunning. My husband and I sat mesmerized through the whole first act. So deeply involved in the story and dancing the first acts flew by. We both decided this will be a new yearly tradition! All I can say is thank you Joffery for the dose of Christmas cheer!!
Had a wonderful time, was sitting in the first balcony and seats were great, could see the entire performance. Definately the best performance of the nutcracker I've seen to date.
Joffrey Ballet had a very unique take on the Nutcracker. This ballet company had talent and did not star one particular individual, but many.
I was born and raised in Chicago and at the age of 21 I started to attended the Joffrey Ballet: Nutcracker annually. Seven years ago I moved to the south and continued to watch local production of the Nutcracker. I currently live and Houston and I must say that the Houston Ballet puts on a better production. I was disappointed with the Joffery Ballet. A few parts was missing and I hate that I didn't see the Nutcracker at the very end of the play. I hated the closing.
Fantastic! Such a wonderful production. We were all sad when it ended.
Loved it. Beautiful set. Wonderful dancers . A great Christmas family favorite! My only wish is that the costumes for the Waltz of the Flowers were prettier and incorporated real flowers to create a truly magical experience.
Having grown up in ballet classes I had high expectations for this performance and it totally fit the bill. The artistry, technique, scenery, and the beautiful Auditorium theatre was a dream. I loved every single second of it! Also, I was in the balcony (row D.)
kids friendly, great performance, very entertaining
love the Joffrey Nutcracker! Costumes are always stunning and the live music is amazing. Some stand out performances...the Snow Prince was incredible. Could not take my eyes off him; he danced so beautifully. second act seemed to lack a little energy/passion? But again, overall a great show.
Words cannot describe the magical feeling that came from that stage. I have always wanted to see the Nutcracker, I never watched it on TV, I have never seen children perform it, because I wanted to see it in person--professionally done and I was not disappointed.
This was my first time going to the ballet. It was an wonderful experience. All of the dancers are just amazing along with the music.
Great Christmas tradition for my family. For years we have traded-off between the Nutcracker and A Christmas Carol. As my kids get older (now middle teenagers), they are choosing the Nutcracker with more frequency. They are absolutely enamored by the physicality of the dancers.
It was a weird take on the story. There was no romantic vibe between Clara and the Nutcracker Prince. Instead the Nutcracker and the Sugar Plum Fairy seemed to be an item.
I have been wanting to see this for many years. We finally went and brought our 11 yr old girl. She liked it and I loved it! I don't think my husband liked it as much but I will still recommend this to anyone - at the very least to see once. Beautiful dancing and of course the music.
Joffrey Ballet Nutcracker was more than I expected. It was a beautiful experience and would love to see it again. The orchestra was exceptional. If you are planning on seeing this you will not be disappointed.
