About

JOE SATRIANI IN CONCERT:

Joe Satriani’s virtuoso guitar playing is more than just flawless technique and blistering speed -- he also forms an emotional connection with fans that is beyond words. His genuine love of riff-based rock ensures that audiences are in for a sonic thrill ride at his live shows, where his nimble fingers and finely tuned ear bring his ballads to life. While “Satch” (as friends and fans refer to him) turns melodies inside out and shreds up a storm, his cast of astounding supporting musicians keeps the grooves solidly rocking throughout six-string stunners like “Surfing with the Alien”, “Satch Boogie”, and “Flying in a Blue Dream”.  Ticket buyers are in for a transcendent instrumental experience that can't be beat, featuring a brilliant musician in impeccable form.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

The highest-selling instrumental rock guitarist of all time, Joe Satriani was born in Westbury, NY in 1956. Before he gained fame, Satch made a living teaching some of the most influential guitarists of the ‘80s, including Kirk Hammett (Metallica), Steve Vai (David Lee Roth), and Larry LaLonde (Primus). His solo career took off with the hits “Always with Me, Always with You” and “Satch Boogie” off his 1987 album Surfing with the Alien. He kept his hot streak alive with his next two albums Flying in a Blue Dream (1988) and The Extremist (1992), which both went gold. In 1996 Satriani started the G3 Tour with friends Steve Vai and Eric Johnson to bring instrumental guitar music to the masses. In 2008 Satch joined forces with former Van Halen members Sammy Hagar (vocals), Michael Anthony (bass), and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith to create the supergroup Chickenfoot. While those projects keep him crazy busy, Satriani still continues to tour -- bringing venues like Warner Theatre to capacity -- and record as a solo artist, releasing Unstoppable Momentum in 2013.

by Adem on 5/7/24Music Hall At Fair Park - Dallas

Checking seats was easy, payment was easy, and showing the usher at the show was a breeze with the app. I couldn't ask for an easier experience to have a good time and build a great memory.

    Satriani/Vai Tour

by Guitar Fan on 5/7/24Music Hall At Fair Park - Dallas

Dallas show - Vai is an alien and Joe rocks out like no one else can. But you knew that already. I was 100% satisfied with the performances. The set performed by each artist really highlighted their strengths and stylistic approaches that we all revere them for.

    Excellent Show

by Wattsup on 5/7/24Music Hall At Fair Park - Dallas

Wonderful concert and VIP experience. So glad we opted in for the VIP pass. Learned a lot about the artists. 4th time seeing Joe, 1st time seeing Steve. Both put on a great show. The only complaint is about parking at this venue. The signage is horrible and Google Maps was no help. Drove in circles for a while to find the entrance, which was not marked.

Was nice, wish for a better balance

by Elad on 5/7/24Music Hall At Fair Park - Dallas

Too much bass and muddy sound, guitar's ,which are the *main* focus of the event, simply didn't cut through the mix. Steve was louder but doesn't mean it was clearer, Joe's guitar I could barely hear. The bass drum and bass guitar had too much presence.

    High School Talent Show

by Sim on 5/7/24Music Hall At Fair Park - Dallas

I was pretty much disappointed with the entire show. It was a genuinely low rent production from lighting to video to audio and general presentation. The videos were so poorly done that they were a distraction. I don’t know why they waited until the 3rd set to do a live feed of the stage. The lighting was a s bare bones as you could hope for and the audio was perhaps the worst I have heard at a live show. The audio was all completely mashed together with no midrange at all. The drums sounded like they were behind the stage wall and Steve Vai’s interminable screechy guitar was ear splitting - and not in a good way. Each performer did a set individually and then in the third set came together to play three pieces that honestly came off as a high school talent show or the San Dimas Battle of the Band. I was praying Wild Stallyns were going to play, but no such luck. I’ve seen Steve and Joe in concert many times over the years and this show made me think maybe it’s time for these guys to call it a day.

    Whole experience was 5-stars!

by Hummerchic on 5/7/24Music Hall At Fair Park - Dallas

The Music Hall at Fair Park is TOP NOTCH. They have shuttles to get you from the parking lot to the building and back after the show! Every single staff member we encountered was beyond friendly and helpful - from the parking attendant to the shuttle drivers, concession staff, and ushers - every single person and interaction was great. I would very much enjoy seeing shows at the venue again. The show was as anticipated - this concert was a Christmas present for the Hubs - and he thoroughly enjoyed the performances. The sound quality was great, no problems or anything to improve IMO.

    Satch Vai

by Jeff on 5/7/24Music Hall At Fair Park - Dallas

Satch was great, he played a lot of his older favorites. Vai just got up there and shredded on the high e string. No songs, rythym or musicality. Just high pitched noodling. He brought their combined performance at the end down a notch.

    Too Much, Too Soon

by Chris on 5/7/24Music Hall At Fair Park - Dallas

I will preface this by saying that I really, really like Satch and his music, and, of course, his amazing technical prowess. In this concert, though, putting Steve Vai out front was a tactical error IMHO; his music is so intense, so loud, and so technical, I was exhausted after his 45 minute opening set. When Satch started his set, my ears were shot and I felt physically beaten up by the percussive nature of Vai's opening salvo. I lasted four songs with Satch, but I was done for the evening. Two great players that are legends, but I think this could have been thought through a little better. And, louder does not always mean better. They could have cut the dB's by 20 or so and benefitted greatly from it.

I’ve been listening to Joseph Satriani since his first album. As someone who appreciates a good guitar player- he’s your man. Go- even if you don’t know any of his music.

I've never seen such raw talent in any other musicians in my entire life, and they've only learned to refine it.
