About

JOE SATRIANI IN CONCERT:

Joe Satriani’s virtuoso guitar playing is more than just flawless technique and blistering speed -- he also forms an emotional connection with fans that is beyond words. His genuine love of riff-based rock ensures that audiences are in for a sonic thrill ride at his live shows, where his nimble fingers and finely tuned ear bring his ballads to life. While “Satch” (as friends and fans refer to him) turns melodies inside out and shreds up a storm, his cast of astounding supporting musicians keeps the grooves solidly rocking throughout six-string stunners like “Surfing with the Alien”, “Satch Boogie”, and “Flying in a Blue Dream”.  Ticket buyers are in for a transcendent instrumental experience that can't be beat, featuring a brilliant musician in impeccable form.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

The highest-selling instrumental rock guitarist of all time, Joe Satriani was born in Westbury, NY in 1956. Before he gained fame, Satch made a living teaching some of the most influential guitarists of the ‘80s, including Kirk Hammett (Metallica), Steve Vai (David Lee Roth), and Larry LaLonde (Primus). His solo career took off with the hits “Always with Me, Always with You” and “Satch Boogie” off his 1987 album Surfing with the Alien. He kept his hot streak alive with his next two albums Flying in a Blue Dream (1988) and The Extremist (1992), which both went gold. In 1996 Satriani started the G3 Tour with friends Steve Vai and Eric Johnson to bring instrumental guitar music to the masses. In 2008 Satch joined forces with former Van Halen members Sammy Hagar (vocals), Michael Anthony (bass), and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith to create the supergroup Chickenfoot. While those projects keep him crazy busy, Satriani still continues to tour -- bringing venues like Warner Theatre to capacity -- and record as a solo artist, releasing Unstoppable Momentum in 2013.

    Phenomenal!

by Rockdoctor on 4/23/24Hackensack Meridian Health Theatre at the Count Basie Center - Red Bank

Steve Vai came first. Amazing performance and showmanship. Then Joe Satriani. again amazing performance, Steve joined Joe's band, The twin guitar riff is phenomenal. More than 3 hour drive to Red Bank, NJ was worth it. There was solar eclipse on 4/8. I had to stop nearby Princeton to watch the 90% eclipse on the way to the concert. Joe mentioned Pink Floyd regarding his eclipse experience. I wish they played the PF's song but I know that due to the copyright, that's not possible. I will see Steve again in this fall when he comes with Beat-King Crimson. He will replace Robert Fripp.

It was starting to get revved up with Stevie who puts you in another world then Joe takes you cosmic! When the 2 of them did some Van Halen & Metallica at the end, WOW what a cap on an already great night!! As an added bonus this year, I get to see Joe with Sammy, Micheal & Jason later on!! Can’t wait!!!

    S A T C H / V A I - Outstanding !

by rayri23 on 4/23/24Embassy Theatre - Fort Wayne

Getting the opportunity to see One of my all-time favorite Guitar GODS is outrageous - Getting the opportunity to see TWO at One Time? That is right up there is as a Zen experience. Unbelievable, Untouchable, just not going to happen that many times in one lifetime! I have been a Satriani Fan since he cranked out his first original album, and yes, I did say "album", in 1986. I was 16 then. It only took me 37 years to be able to check off one of my bucket list items. It was amazing and the only thing I was surprised by was that I was left needing more Satch. SO many memories of his outstanding tunes and to just get to hear a mere snippet seems somehow crass or remiss. I also enjoyed Vai's performance and getting to see both of them playing a tune they wrote together. PRICELESS ! Thank You for allowing me the opportunity of a lifetime. Peace & Love !

    Incredible!

by Tony on 4/23/24Embassy Theatre - Fort Wayne

I've followed these two guys music for the last 40 years. To see them perform it with the same energy as they did then was pretty mind blowing. Fantastic show, mixed perfectly, and throw in Kenny Aranoff on drums and it was one of the best shows I've ever seen and just a few blocks from home!

Vai + Satch = Heaven, but it can be...

by VaiuSatriani on 4/23/24The Andrew J Brady Music Center - Cincinnati

As the title says : Vai and Satriani billed together is basically a heaven on earth. BUT, the venue was not on the level of the performers themselves. Right now I'm not going to talk or give review about the artists because we all know they're both world class players-Musicians - or just human being in general. So, we'll skip that. It's the Venue that's kind of a let down for me that evening. Now, I'm going to preface this by saying I may not have been to many venues, but been going to concert myself since 2001 and having lived in NYC for a couple decades, I've been to some of the best live venues you can experience, from the smallest one (small clubs like Blue Note on McDougal St.) to the biggest stage like Madison Square Garden, and trust me when I say this : bigger doesn't mean better. Honestly, I just moved to KY myself, so I'm not familiar or even know which venue is which and if any one are better than the other, so I'm not going to give any recommendations about other venue. Upon arriving at Andrew J Brady music center, I have a decent hope for it to be a great venue. Looking great from afar and better once closer. Getting in was not hard at all. They're all very polite and professional. But once I get inside, it's upside down. No staff I can find around to give me direction to my seats. Then the seats are basically just a folding chair you usually use at weddings. Audio does not come out clear and people kept leaving their seats to get whatever. And once Vai done and we get 15 minutes break, the floor was just simply put, dirty. It can be better.

This must be heard to be believed

by An Experience on 4/22/24The Andrew J Brady Music Center - Cincinnati

This is an Experience unlike a regular concert. I love seeing bands live and very much enjoy hearing them run through their playlists. Later, you can tell others what they missed by recalling the songs, music, and accompanying lights or pyrotechnics. Satriani / Vai is not that concert. You will never be able to do justice in describing what played out on stage during this show. Hearing what these master craftsmen are putting forth is mind-blowing. Satriani / Vai will stir your soul, man. They pull you through all the emotions, taking you on a complete sonic tour of the guitar. These two coax sounds from their guitars that somehow shouldn't exist. They also make it seem effortless, belying the extensive work they've put into gaining their well-deserved reputations. When the sound from the amplifiers fade, you realize what you've just heard / observed, is something never to be forgotten. You will weep for those who failed to attend (heh, couldn't resist). Don't be the one crying on the sidelines.

best show I have seen in a while

by mattwrock on 4/22/24The Andrew J Brady Music Center - Cincinnati

Joe and Steve were at the top of their game. Stev came on first and put on a terrific set. Joe came on next and really blew the the roof off! Both guitarists have a similar style, but there is good contrast musically. Steve is more environmental, where Joe has a bluesy, jazzy edge. Steve came back and the two put their spin on a couple of rock classics. If you like guitar, see this show!

    Virtuosity Incarnate

by Aerin on 4/22/24The Andrew J Brady Music Center - Cincinnati

I might have been swayed by the fact that I was in the fourth row and could see the fingers move on the fretboard, But I have to say Satriani and Vai were simply sensational. They also seem to be age defying, and playing as great as I’ve ever heard! Bravisimo!
