About

JOE SATRIANI IN CONCERT:

Joe Satriani’s virtuoso guitar playing is more than just flawless technique and blistering speed -- he also forms an emotional connection with fans that is beyond words. His genuine love of riff-based rock ensures that audiences are in for a sonic thrill ride at his live shows, where his nimble fingers and finely tuned ear bring his ballads to life. While “Satch” (as friends and fans refer to him) turns melodies inside out and shreds up a storm, his cast of astounding supporting musicians keeps the grooves solidly rocking throughout six-string stunners like “Surfing with the Alien”, “Satch Boogie”, and “Flying in a Blue Dream”.  Ticket buyers are in for a transcendent instrumental experience that can't be beat, featuring a brilliant musician in impeccable form.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

The highest-selling instrumental rock guitarist of all time, Joe Satriani was born in Westbury, NY in 1956. Before he gained fame, Satch made a living teaching some of the most influential guitarists of the ‘80s, including Kirk Hammett (Metallica), Steve Vai (David Lee Roth), and Larry LaLonde (Primus). His solo career took off with the hits “Always with Me, Always with You” and “Satch Boogie” off his 1987 album Surfing with the Alien. He kept his hot streak alive with his next two albums Flying in a Blue Dream (1988) and The Extremist (1992), which both went gold. In 1996 Satriani started the G3 Tour with friends Steve Vai and Eric Johnson to bring instrumental guitar music to the masses. In 2008 Satch joined forces with former Van Halen members Sammy Hagar (vocals), Michael Anthony (bass), and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith to create the supergroup Chickenfoot. While those projects keep him crazy busy, Satriani still continues to tour -- bringing venues like Warner Theatre to capacity -- and record as a solo artist, releasing Unstoppable Momentum in 2013.

Joe and Vai at 713 Houston Tx

by RudyStarr on 5/8/24713 Music Hall - Houston

The seats were amazing. The lighting and backdrop graphics were super cool and the artists themselves both Joe Satriani, and Steve Vai put on unforgettable performances everything from there classic catalog of songs to their jam at the end of the night playing. Enter Sandman by Metallica. A super unforgettable night, thank you Ticketmaster for the suggestion on these tickets.

    History In The Making

by Funki-Wan-Kenobi on 5/8/24Music Hall At Fair Park - Dallas

A Joe concert is great. A Steve concert is great. But the interaction between the two of them is a one-of-a-kind experience. Several times I just knew I was witnessing something pivotal for the future of music. Then there's the Music Hall balcony. Most uncomfortable seats I've had in a long long time. I'll never sit in that balcony again.

    What a show

by KevDog on 5/8/24713 Music Hall - Houston

First time I saw Joe was back in 1986 or 87. He was fabulous then and was fabulous last night. Was able to take my son and we had a blast. Added bonus was one of his star pupils (Steve Vai). Highly recommend you try to see this show if it is in a town near you.

Excellent VIP experience and fantastic shows!

by Greg (Dadofalex) on 5/8/24713 Music Hall - Houston

Both Steve Vai and Joe Satriani shows were excellent. The meet and greet with a Q&A session was unique and showed just how "down to Earth"both Joe and Steve are. Their on-stage performance and shows packed a solid punch and demonstrated how both of them are at the top of the list of the world's best rock guitarists. It was an added bonus that Vai joined Satch on stage for an end of concert tour de force! Wow! One of the best concerts I have seen, for sure! And I have been going to concerts since I was a teenager in the mid-70's ... I've seen over 150 live experiences so I don't make that statement lightly.

    Great Musicians, Venue feedback

by Satch/Vai Fan on 5/8/24713 Music Hall - Houston

Bought the VIP experience Row D center of stage seats. VIP was about 100 of us in a Q&A with Joe/Steve on stage with mics. Very casual and cordial, well executed. The Venue 713 Music Hall is super clean, well laid out facility, plenty of bars (wrap around the entire seated areas), bathrooms well done and super clean, food edible not huge variety, but achieves the need. Easy to navigate around the venue even during the show. The minus is the seating at this venue. The chairs are way too small, and way too cramped together. It's immediately a slight game of who can gently slide their chair to acquire more space (whether it's intentional or not). Honestly, this venue must be bringing in enough dough to re plan and purchase the seating - it's just ridiculous for a 300.00 seat. The acoustics in the venue are ok, maybe 7 out of 10. The volume of the open air gives it a slight echo and loud combination of muddy bass and undefined treble. Being at row 4 put us even with the main house PA , so it could have been different further back. Sound is acceptable. but some effort here could payoff. Th Satch/Vai concert itself was good. It was billed as a true collaboration performance, but honestly it was each artist getting an hour set, which was pretty rushed to get the big material in. After both sets, the two artists played together for 3 long songs, very much like G3s, but more developed and longer jams. As a whole, both of these artists are capable of a wide range of musical styles, and for me, the full on rock for 90% of the concert was great, but the balance would have been better at maybe 70%. Overall a great time, and great to see these musicians out doing what they live for!

    Good Show, Poor Sound Quality

by Marke2112 on 5/8/24713 Music Hall - Houston

Joe and Steve put on a great show but the sound quality was unfortunate. Loud is fine but loud and poor quality is not as enjoyable. Despite sitting dead center towards middle/back, Via's guitar volume was painfully loud and you were unable hear the backup guitarist or bass player. Ear plugs cleaned up the quality but the sound engineers should have been able to hear how poorly it was mixed. Satriani's mix was better. This was our first concert at 713 music hall so hopefully this is not the norm for shows at this venue.
