by HotRead on 12/15/15Fox Theater - Oakland - Oakland

An absolutely great show ! From walking into the Beautiful Fox Theatre, to seeing Almost Dead for the first time and being blown away...and this after seeing 142 Grateful Dead shows...!

    Joe Russo Rules

by outdrsj on 12/15/15Fox Theater - Oakland - Oakland

I didn't know what to expect when I bought the tickets to this event, other than I would probably hear some good music. I had no idea that I was going to see the best show I have seen in a number of years! The band was tight and the energy level was at the highest level. They played the Grateful Dead music I love, but they made it their own, which I greatly appreciated. I was very happy they did not try to replicate the Dead, but took the Dead's music and put a whole new spin and energy level on it. A completely satisfying show from start to finish.

Great band, great show, awful venue

by hotrat28 on 11/30/15Paradise Rock Club - Boston

My highlight from the first set was The Eleven. My second set highlights were Mr. Charlie and Dancing in the Streets. I love this band. So much talent. However, the name of the venue is a misnomer. It's crowded, the sound is not good, it's hard to find a spot where you can see and hear the band without obstructed view, etc. In my opinion, the Paradise is the worst venue in Boston and I hope that JRAD finds another venue to play the next time they come to Boston.

    Band was great. Venue sucks

by GerryM15 on 11/30/15Paradise Rock Club - Boston

It's unfortunate the band played great but the sound quality and the set up of the room did not allow for an enjoyable experience. I can only hope that the band got the lion's share of the ticket price as the venue detracted from the experience, rather than enhance it. Would not attend another event there regardless of who was on the bill

best dead cover band playing today

by hyeykysy on 11/3/15The Ritz - Raleigh

JRAD played a lively two sets and seemed to be enjoying themselves. Plenty of energy and some great jamming. Ritz concert hall is a great venue, good sound, set-up and sight lines.

JRAD is killer!!! It's a must see!! Maybe at a different venue, though. The TLA was comepletely oversold with 90+degree temps inside and literally no where to move or breathe. If you tried to go outside to get air, they wouldn't let you back in. It's hard to dump 2000 people on the sidewalk on South st and tell them not to goto to far away. My 3 friends got told they couldn't come back in after intermission. Just stupid. Oh and only 2 bar tenders. Spent have the first set trying to get water and had to leave after intermission because my friends weren't allowed back in. We saw JRAD in Boulder, CO at the historic Boulder theater it was outstanding!!!!!

    jrad

    by chukky77 on 2/11/15State Theatre - Portland

Never seen Jrad before. Kinda refreshing to get a more personalized/unique take on GD catalogue. These guys are talented players and seem to truly enjoy what they do. Wasn't crazy about setlist and some sound difficulties with vocals. Definitely try them again though. Some of the best drum playing I've seen. Evahh.

JRAD really brought the heat to warm up Portland. These guys bring incredible energy to any Grateful Dead tune that they play.

    Joe is an Animal!

by Mancdggg on 2/10/15State Theatre - Portland

Great show put on by JRAD in Portland! These guys rocked, great fresh approach on beloved Dead tunes. No ballads, super upbeat, great muscians, and did I mention that Joe Russo is a freaking animal. Can't recommend them any higher, go see them if able

    Almost Dead high energy

by rosaliemcfall on 2/10/15State Theatre - Portland

High energy event. State Theatre is a terrific venue. Joe Russo and his group can really jam...almost too much...at times they almost sounded like a southern rock band they got jamming so hard. I wasn't terribly impressed with Joe Russo's voice....but the bassist had times when he sounded like Bobby.....overall, a good show and would recommend.

Joe Russo and Almost Dead bring fans to new "intense" places from a selection of Dead and Jerry songs.
