About

Known as the sexy bad boys of the R&B scene, Jodeci is made up of Jo-Jo Hailey, Donald “DeVante Swing” DeGrate and Cedric “K-Ci” Hailey, with Dalvin DeGrate joining at a later date. No strangers to success, Jodeci’s smooth sounds have been topping the charts since the early 90s, when they released Forever My Lady. The album featured the gold single, “Come and Talk to Me,” and sold over three million copies. They belt out powerful ballads and jazzy love songs with seductive beats that concertgoers can’t help but sway along to at their live shows. Their tours have been selling out across the country since the early 90s, and the band continues to shine during their reunions. They radiate energy and wrap the audience in their smooth, soulful sounds.

The foursome are natives of North Carolina, and their music is heavily influenced by their experience singing gospel music as youngsters. Rapper Heavy D was instrumental in the band’s success, convincing Uptown president Andre Harrell into signing them after hearing their demo. It’s hard to miss the enormous talent evident in each of their three records, but "Forever My Lady" was definitely their initial ticket to success. On the band’s third album The Show, the After-Party, the Hotel they were able to work with R&B legend Al Green on the song “Could This Be the Love.” Jodeci's sound is admired in many different musical circuits, from R&B to soul to gospel to easy listening, and their fans applaud their musical prowess and ability to pump so much sexy magic into each of their songs.

    90's R&B

    by OhioFan79 on 6/30/15Chene Park - Detroit

It was a rainy and cold evening in Detroit as Jon B. and Jodeci graced the stage of Chene Park. Jon B. did a good job. He actually sounded the same; however, the audience did not seem too impressed as he played the keyboard and sung until he sung Can You Stand the Rain. After that he sang songs the audience was more familiar with. Also I did like the young lady who was his backup singer. #feelinghimself As for Jodeci, I think the crowd was so hype to see them together again as a group, but honestly the group is not the same. Jojo was horrible. His vocals were not very good, which is why he only sang his verse for a couple of the songs. As I was leaving, he was singing Lately acapella. I was happy I was leaving LOL. It seems the backup singers who stood way in the back of the stage was the saving grace to the harmony that the group no longer has. Kci can still sing, Devante still talks, and Mr. Dalvin is still FINE. Too bad some folks were fighting during their set and Mr. Dalvin went off about it.

    The boys still got it!

by Priv1 on 6/29/15Tower Theatre - Upper Darby

Jodeci still sounds like Jodeci after 18 years. The show was great. The seats were general admission which I'm not a fan of, so I waited in line for 90 minutes to make sure I had a good seat. They called the first 3 rows to the stage so all was good.

    Ooooooh Yeah!

by NiqueLaws on 6/29/15The Fillmore Silver Spring - Silver Spring

I am a die hard Jodeci fan! So when I heard they were coming to The Fillmore, I purchased my ticket the day it went on sale. The show was a B+ quality for not having performed in 18 years. They definitely still have the magic that made them great singers and songwriters in the 90s. I was slightly disappointed in Devante and Jojo's stage presence, they mostly faced the back of the stage, and did very little engaging with the crowd. Also the set was only 45 minutes but we waited almost an hour before they hit the stage. K-Ci sang his heart out, but Mr. Dalvin was the best! If they could focus on the great chemistry they had back then, they'd give a great show.

They showed up 45 minutes late and only played for about 50 mins. Barely touched the new album. Did a medley for a lot of the old stuff and collabo's. Kinda/Sorta disappointed. It was good to see them together as a group again!

These boys are still bad (by bad I mean good - lol)! Don't let the Internet fool you, they still sound great and put on a great show. I'm so glad I was there. I could have stayed and listened to them all night. I can't wait until they come back!

Show was suppose to start for 8pm. The opening act started around 830pm. Opening act played for at least 45 min. Transition between this act and the main act took forever. I think jodeci finally started around 945pm or so. They performed for, what it seems like, 20 to 30 min. The songs were good. But, I was expecting a longer, more professional Performance. I paid a lot of $$ and the opening act was longer than the Main act. Not cool! Waste of $$.

    Super Short!

by KG504 on 6/24/15Saenger Theatre New Orleans - New Orleans

Although this was a last minute choice, I still was excited about seeing the band live after all these years. I use to be a HUGE Jodeci fan and really like the new single. Once they hit the stage, they played all the old favorites and the new single as well but I think they were only on stage for 40 minutes. It just wasn't worth the money!

    Blast from the past....

by Kei504 on 6/23/15Saenger Theatre New Orleans - New Orleans

When I was young, Jodeci was my favorite group! Something like how girls today are crazy about One Direction. So...I had to see them live for the first time since 1993. I was disappointed the turn out wasn't great. But that allowed to move way up to the front to get close to one of my favorite groups of all times. The music is still amazing!!! I sang to the top of my lungs to every song. The guys have aged a bit but for the most part still look good. Overall, I had a great time even though their show was only 1 hour. I think a smaller venue and lower pricing would have been more appropriate for a comeback concert.

    Jodeci Needs Help!

by 4pdawson on 6/23/15Saenger Theatre New Orleans - New Orleans

Where do I start. Well, Jodeci is a group from childhood that I enjoyed very much coming up. However, on June 20th in New Orleans that did not do so well. JoJo was lip syncing and KC was high as a kite! They only performed for about 50 minutes. I paid for more than 50 minutes worth of show. Those guys really need help in the worse way. It's such a shame that all the talent they posess and continue to allow addictions to bring them down. Didn't even sing a fraction of their songs. I will NOT be going to see Jodeci ever again.

    Jodeci was a big disappointment!!!!

by Lo91 on 6/23/15Saenger Theatre New Orleans - New Orleans

Jodeci came out on stage at 9:35. They began to sing I couldn't believe my ears they sounded horrible. KC's voice is completely gone. Jo Jo's voice is barely hanging on; what was once the Hailey brothers duo from the 90's is no more they sang horribly. I mentioned Jodeci coming out on stage at 9:35 by 10:15 they were leaving the stage. They sung a total of 4 entire songs & 2 songs that they song partials of. They definitely did not give their fans their monies worth. As a Jodeci fan I would NEVER go to another Jodeci concert EVER again I will just enjoy my Jodeci CD's of the 90's group I remember & love w/ strong voices that sounds great!!!

    I was Impressed

by deehornsby on 6/23/15Saenger Theatre New Orleans - New Orleans

I was impressed with Jodeci. The only thing I would say and this is geared at all artists, is that they should learn to be on time. As audience we come to a show to hear our favorite artists. This is why we purchased the tickets. I wish just one artist would show up on time and not have the audience waiting. With that being said they were really good. I believe K-C could have toned it down a little and would have still sounded like the old K-C. Overall good show!!

Awesome Experience but Blinded by Theatre Lights!

by jaystake on 6/23/15Saenger Theatre New Orleans - New Orleans

I think the opening act tried his best but everyone seemed ready for Jodeci instead. Jodeci sung all the old school favorites along with their new song. The concert was awesome and Jodeci sounded really good. My only gripe is the theatre lights were blinding and took from the experience at various moments. Those lights had me wishing I had worn sunglasses.
