About

Known as the sexy bad boys of the R&B scene, Jodeci is made up of Jo-Jo Hailey, Donald “DeVante Swing” DeGrate and Cedric “K-Ci” Hailey, with Dalvin DeGrate joining at a later date. No strangers to success, Jodeci’s smooth sounds have been topping the charts since the early 90s, when they released Forever My Lady. The album featured the gold single, “Come and Talk to Me,” and sold over three million copies. They belt out powerful ballads and jazzy love songs with seductive beats that concertgoers can’t help but sway along to at their live shows. Their tours have been selling out across the country since the early 90s, and the band continues to shine during their reunions. They radiate energy and wrap the audience in their smooth, soulful sounds.

The foursome are natives of North Carolina, and their music is heavily influenced by their experience singing gospel music as youngsters. Rapper Heavy D was instrumental in the band’s success, convincing Uptown president Andre Harrell into signing them after hearing their demo. It’s hard to miss the enormous talent evident in each of their three records, but "Forever My Lady" was definitely their initial ticket to success. On the band’s third album The Show, the After-Party, the Hotel they were able to work with R&B legend Al Green on the song “Could This Be the Love.” Jodeci's sound is admired in many different musical circuits, from R&B to soul to gospel to easy listening, and their fans applaud their musical prowess and ability to pump so much sexy magic into each of their songs.

    Most acts were fantastic!

by AyyJayyBee on 11/2/15Legacy Arena at The BJCC - Birmingham

SWV fantastic check Dougie fresh fantastic check Dru Hill fantastic check Jodeci (who I came to see) WTH! I love Jodeci, but they Took forever to come out to the point where it began to be awkward for Ricky Smiley to continue wasting time! They did not have a cohesive show. Parts were obviously lip-synched and the parts that were not sounded horrible. SWV, Dougie fresh, and Dru- Hill were on point, obviously prepared for the show, and all sounded fantastic! I would go 10 times again to see those three legendary acts. I may be done with Jodeci! Ricky Smiley was funny as usual! Loved him.

    Jodeci...shakin' my head!

    by MajorDad2011 on 10/31/15BJCC - Birmingham

Can you say, "High as heck?!" or "What the heck?!" KC was obviously not normal as he hunched, humped and licked his tongue out onstage and also thru the audience as he paraded around. Must say he didn't miss a note though. JoJo didn't sing a note (lip sync'd entire performance), Dalvin was somewhat normal (high too I believe) and Devonta didn't even show up. And what were background singers for???? Was expecting a good performance from the 'headliners' but it was less then mediocre. My first time seeing Jodeci perform. Thankfully SWV, Dru Hill, Doug E. Fresh and Rickey Smiley came thru!!!

    Jodeci Was The Bomb!

by SherriBlaise on 10/11/15Chene Park - Detroit

I have always loved Jodeci. I remember seeing them at the FOX when I was in the 8th grade in my Jodeci boots and OPP jacket so this concert was a treat! They were in sync for the most part. A lot better than when I saw K-Ci and JoJo at the House of Blues in Houston. I actually left that concert early. They were Horrendous with a capital H. However, they redeemed themselves with this concert.

The performance was great and I can't wait to see them again! I love me some Jodeci :) Hopefully, I'll meet Mr. King Swing himself. He's my favorite! Thank you Jodeci for making June 20th a night to remember! It was well worth the money.

    Great Show

    by SWhite2469 on 7/9/15Chene Park - Detroit

Jon B kicked it off. He played keyboard while singing many of his hits. His energy got the crowd pumped up. Before ending his set he gave a great introduction for Jodeci. However, the hour long intermission between the acts slowed down the show. Jodeci pumped things back up as they came out and performed. Their set included many of their hits as well as their latest single "Every Moment." K-Ci and JoJo even performed a couple of their hits. Overall, the show as awesome.

    Terribly disappointed by everything

by msjennah on 7/6/15Chene Park - Detroit

The concert started at 8 but Jodeci did not come on until 11 pm. It was cold and rainy. Just when we thought they were coming on, a previos opening act (dj) came BACK on and said "It'll be a minute while Jodeci gets they selves together."Um, what? What were they doing the previous 3 hours? Then they only played about 40 minutes. So disappointing, The sound was awful. 3 hours is unacceptable to wait.

    Jodeci was OK

by Mika1234 on 7/3/15Tower Theatre - Upper Darby

Jodeci is my favorite group, but I was kind of disappointed in the performance. They were 30 minutes late coming on stage and it seemed like they were off beat in some songs. K-CI was jumping all over the stage and he was off beat with his singing. When they finally got it together, it seemed like the show was over. They did not sing all of their songs and frankly I was a bit disappointed.

    Jodeci was amazing

    by Teebaby81 on 7/1/15Chene Park - Detroit

Jodeci was amazing. It's been 20 years since they released an album and they are making up for lost time. They are the best in the business and will always be. Very down to earth and love their family (fans).

Unusually long wait between opening act and Jodeci

by Lserv on 6/30/15Chene Park - Detroit

There was at least an hour between the opening act and headline act. Various people randomly came on stage and made small talk. It became annoying at times. At one point they had the audience singing. I think it was close to 11 pm when Jodeci finally came out. They did many of their hits but the sound system was horrible with deep base vibrating so loud you could hardly understand the lyrics. Beautiful venue. Just horribly loud distorted sound system.

Jodeci came on stage at 1035-1040 for a 8pm concert and left stage at 1120pm not to mention most songs were a shortened version. Jo jo and devante could have cared less it was apparent it was only about money for them.

Jodeci appearance was 1 1/2 hours after Jon B finished his set. It was raining extremely hard, 56 degrees, with the wind blowing strong off the river. Due to weather conditions alone, Jodeci should of had more concern, professional courtesy towards their fans who have been supporting them for years to keep the show moving and fans dry as much as possible. Many people starting booing and many left before Jodeci finished their set. There were only 2 acts - Jon B & Jodeci

    Jodeci

    by MrsB2u on 6/30/15Chene Park - Detroit

Great experience really enjoyed seeing the kings of R&B back together. They sound great! Concert seemed short though. I just wanted them sing full songs instead of snippets of some songs. Also would have liked to hear more songs from the new album. Overall concert was great would definitely see Jodeci again.

    Jodeci was disappointing!

    by Diva217 on 6/30/15Chene Park - Detroit

They were an hour late and JoJo didn't sing his parts at first, then at the end of the show he came back out and started singing. I absolutely loved them when I was younger, but I will not be going to see them again. Jon B was great would definately go see him again!

The weather was bad, but the concert was the baddest!!! Jon B was great and Jodeci turned Chene Pk out. So glad they're back. The concert brought back many memories and I'm glad I was there. DJ Steady Rock is the best! Great night.
