Awesome!!! The guy is amazing!!! The dancers are great and the musicians are out of this world sooooo goood!! Joaquin is super hot!!!!!
It is a wonderful, unbelivable, atonish show, dont miss.
He was on stage sparingly, he is such a diva!! always asking for applause. The music was horrible, The show was mediocre at best, wasted my money and my friend´s who I dragged to see the show. Will NEVER see him again! terrible disappointment. The theater is in very bad condition also.
Good but not great. Joaquin Cortes was not on the stage as much as I would expect. Expected more.
What am amazing experience to live! Cortes was amazing , full of energy and creativity , Enjoyable till his last Movement
Good contemporary dance display besides the flamenco dance. Excellent band, musicians an singers, very fusion like with the music, spanish to tropical. Good overall entertaintment show with care and professional attitude from everybody on scene.
Beautiful dance, music and great choreography! Bravo Gitano!
Joaquin Cortes is a phenomena, a one-of-a-kind performer. He is mesmerizing, charismatic, the most graceful and beautiful dancer. Therefore it is a great injustice to his talent and to the legion of his fans to sell top dollar tickets up front on a flat floor where all you can see of him is from the waist up, if at all (depends on who is in front of you)! What a waste! The venue could not do justice to the performance.
This show was amazing. The music was very strong, unique, artistic. The dancing was mezmorizing at times. Other times, the dancing was subtle enough for one to enjoy the music. I just wish the violinist did a solo. I also wish Joaquin did a traditional flamenco dance with the women. They performed a modern take on the flamenco.
This was a great spectacle, Joaquín Cortés is a gifted flamenco dancer. The show had a lot of energy that reached its highest peak when Joaquín spoke to the public and dedicated his show to his deceased mother. Unfortunately, we spent the first 30 minutes trying to relocate from our seats which in spite of being the most expensive ones, closest to the stage, were the worst ones. We could only see the face of the dancers since the area is on a flat surface. We ended up seating on the very side upper level seats, however, we still enjoyed the show. One word of caution if you take kids, this particular show should have been classified "for adults" since there was nudity by the women troupe accompanying Joaquín.
Not what expected. I saw many Flamencos shows in USA and Spain, this one is not even close, is not a traditional Flamenco show. No doubt that he's a great dancer, but the show needs more variations, better choreography, I was disappointed.
Spectacular performance! The passion, energy, emotion was of such high energy that it reached the soul. More than just an entertainer, he shared his soul, love and as he said, "mi habitacion" (my bedroom). His accompaniment was excellent, carrying his love for flamenco music through their perspective instruments. The ladies also not only performed up to par, but in a unexpected innovative way through their mermaid dance. Excellent show.
I was expecting a different type of show .... we left earlier. Sorry, not my type !
We, in Miami are still hungry for first class traditional Flamenco, we are not ready for this complicated , boring fusion...Joaquin is , without a doubt , a star, but what he brings , though great performers, is too avant garde for my taste. The guitar solo reminded me of a beginner practicing for his first guitar exam. The topless mermaids, seemed to be in a yoga class, the trumpet hurt my ears...I will not go back to a show like this.
incredible, the best show I have seen since long time. MUST SEE.....
I totally agree with Bluepigeon...what a disappointment! I left the show after just one hour.
I saw Joaquín Cortés spectacle "Live" some years ago and I loved it. His technique, his movements, his flamenco fury while dancing were outstanding. Singers and musicians were marvelous. "Live" was a one-man show, so Joaquín was all the time on stage dancing masterfully. I even bought the DVD of this show, but the DVD wasn't as good as the show, because the editing doesn't let you appreciate choreographies as well as on the show. I haven't see this new show, but I'll surely will.
Wow, what a disappointment. If you are looking for real flamenco, any glimpse of flamenco, do not see Cortes. I hear he was very good, inspiring good back in the day. And he certainly has skill and talent. Unfortunately, he will not dance for more than 10 seconds a time! This is how it goes: He will come on stage, and very much like the photo above, he will open his arms to the drooling fans (bunch of women who know nothing about flamenco, palo, compas, etc but think Cortes is just OMG-waaay-too-hot!) and request praise and cheers. He will gesture with his hands to egg the audience on to cheer him more. Then the music will start (and the musicians are great, the singers have great voices, etc) and the music will try to persuade him to dance, you know, a little bit of flamenco... He will start, your hopes are high at this point, aaaaaaand, about 10 seconds later he will stop, open his arms and request another applause for... what exactly? In the 2 hours we watched this "show" he danced a total of maybe 10 minutes!!! It was a disgrace. It was unbelievable. I went with a bunch of friends, all of whom dance flamenco, know flamenco music and dance, and regularly attend flamenco events in NYC and in Spain, and this was the worst, I repeat, the WORST flamenco show I have ever ever seen. I would have preferred to see a flamenco show where the dancer wasn't top-notch, the musicians were not famous, but there was some real flamenco. The cherry on top? Well, it ad to be when Cortes opened his mouth to flaunt his pride of being a "gitano." I don't think the gypsies would be proud of him if they saw what he did (or, in this case, did not do) What a shame.
