    Art is the most important...

by ClaudiaPrincess on 12/6/23James L Knight Center - Miami

"Art is the most important, in these difficult and challenging times". This is how Joaquin Cortes thanked all the people enjoying his dance, dances, cantaores and musicians. Joaquin Cortes is a unique experience, someone who single-handed changed Flamenco dance forever, with his mastery and joy. If you haven't seen him, you must, and if you have seen him, well, you know what you have to do! It was a wonderful night! Thank you Joaquin!

    Terrible View from the Corner

by Penny on 12/5/23James L Knight Center - Miami

I could not enjoy the Joaquin Cortes Flamenco Dance because the Curtain was blocking the view for all the people that were sitted on the left corner as myself. I had to stand and watch the Flamenco Show standing all the time because I could not see from the seat that I paid for!!! What a Shame!!!!!

    Very disappointing

by A fan of Joaquin on 12/5/23James L Knight Center - Miami

The show was a big disappointment. It started 45 minutes late. The sound was poor. You could not understand the words in the songs. The musicians and Joaquin kept complaining to the staff to raise the volume. Joaquin gained weight and does not move or dance as before. He was lacking energy and charisma. The second dance of the female performers looked like a high school dance. A photographer kept coming into the stage to take pictures. Really??? All in all it was a very poor show.

    Overall average show

by AT on 12/5/23James L Knight Center - Miami

I saw Joaquin Cortes several years ago. He is no longer that artist. Additional The James L. Knight Center is getting past it's time. The elevator & the escalator were both broken. Elderly with mobility issues had to go up the steps which was like 40 of them. They need to renovate or close that place.

    Disappointed

by Pat on 12/4/23Arena Theatre - Houston

Not sure if the venue contributed to the let down by these performers, but it was not the talent expected to see for the $. The costumes/dress was sloppy and the light and sound was of poor quality. The audience started to yell to turn lighting on to see the performers. It was disappointing to say the least.

Joaquin Cortes needs a better venue.

by Olga on 12/4/23Arena Theatre - Houston

Joaquin needs a better venue for his show. The musicians were on the stage and we couldn’t see him for 75% of the time. Also, lighting could be better and all black outfits in an all black venue didn’t work. He is super talented but we couldn’t see him. I will go again in the future in a different venue. The performance started almost an hour late!

Could have been so much better

by VN on 12/4/23Arena Theatre - Houston

The show and choreography need work. Too much singing, music was too loud, and the additional dancers were hardly used. There was a lengthy set in the first half of the show where I believe the dancers were topless because the lights were very dim so you could tell there were dancers but could not see anything, rather than adding to the show this detracted from it. The best part of the show was the end when the dancers came out with Joaquin. There should have been more sets like this one. Also, though Joaquin has always leaned towards modern flamenco, castanets would have been nice. Joaquin can dance, but the choreography was missing. After waiting this long to see Joaquin Cortes, I walked away disappointed. This could have been a great show, but it was not.

    Joaquin Cortes was pretty awesome

by Miamenses on 11/25/11James L Knight Center - Miami

The show was excellent. Some of the audience people were uneducated, yelling to the artist without considering that this is an cultural event.

    Joaquin Cortes

    by lunaverde9 on 11/16/11James L Knight Center - Miami

I saw Joaquin around 2000 and the performance was wonderful. This time was more like a stadium show.. a very mediocre performance with horrendous graphics in the background. The guy has lost his touch.
