Joan Manuel Serrat on Tour
Joan Manuel Serrat -- also known as "El Nano" and "El Noi del Poble-sec" -- is an internationally acclaimed singer/songwriter whose music transcends language, distance and time. Some of his most popular songs include "Cantares," "La Mujer Que Yo Quiero," and "Tu Nombre Me Sabe a Yerba." He initially became famous for his political activism in the 1960s, using folk music as a platform to criticize the Spanish Civil War in passionate verse and song. Serrat's musicalized poetry was an instant success and would eventually shape modern music in both Spanish and Catalan languages. The album Dedicado a Antonio Machado, Poeta (1969) was a commercial triumph that earned widespread acclaim throughout Spain and Latin America, sending Serrat on tour for the first time in celebration. After winning first place at the Rio de Janeiro World Music Festival for his performance of "Penelope," the release of Mediterráneo in 1971 solidified the artist worldwide. Serrat pioneered the Catalonian "Nova Cançó" and received a medal from the Spanish government in 1995 for his incredible contributions to culture. In 2000, he was awarded a Medal of the Century by the Spanish Association of Authors and Editors (SGAE) to recognize his excellency in songwriting and celebrate his career achievements. To experience music that moves you, watch Joan Manuel Serrat live in concert as he continues to tour the Americas. It's a show you won't want to miss.
Joan Manuel Serrat in Concert
Born in Barcelona on December 27, 1947, Joan Manuel Serrat began playing music as young as 17 after getting his first guitar. In 1964, before the age of 20, a guest appearance on a radio show led to a record deal with the local label Edigsa, for which he recorded his first EP the following year. His first live performance on stage took place in 1966 at the Catalan Music Palace, but it would be another decade until Americans could see Joan Manuel Serrat on tour for the first time after he crossed over in 1976 to perform in New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles. Audiences became enamored with the Spanish musician's vocal range and lyrical style -- even those who couldn't understand his Spanish lyrics -- and quickly lined up to watch Serrat in concert to perform his wheelhouse of folk, Latin pop and classical genres.

As wonderful as always 50 years of sharing his music, art and poems, sweet to be there fir his farewell tour
A great performance, the catalan Joan Manuel Serrat didn’t disappoint, The beacon is a beautiful theater with great acoustic. Amazing night
Everything was flawless except by the fact that at the time I purchased my tickets I was under the presumption that I was making a deal directly with the theater. Wasn’t! And of course the tickets were over the price. Another thing is I believed that my seats were at ground level and my surprise was at the moment I was in the theater (2nd floor). The seat diagram must be more explicit. Thanks
Joan Manuel Serrat took us in a wild and wonderful rollercoaster of emotions and deep feelings that ranged from nostalgia to ecstasy. Never anything better. We loved it and will never forget this event. We celebrated 22 years of marriage attending to this marvelous concert, and would repeat it at any opportunity. Diana Lucia and Rodrigo
Nights of songs and poetry..!! Beautiful songs...!! Serrat is a giant of de Latin music..!!
Serrat was very close with the public. He was very excited and enjoing. Beacon Teather was a good election to star the tour because of the acoustics and dimensions. We went from Barcelona and we were really happy.
A musical legend, the greatest for many of us, brought the crowd to tears in his farewell concert. An unforgettable experience.
I have been listening to Serrat for over 50 years. He is an excellent performer and also a marvelous human being. His music is awesome and makes you think and feel. I really am at a loss of words. I will unfortunately see him for the last time on April 29, 2022 in Miami. Moltes gracies mestre!!!
Serrat is one of my all-time favorite singer songwriters but my husband and I have been unsuccessful several times in over more than 40 years in getting tickets to one of his concerts. This one was everything we could have hoped for. Serrat sang so many favorites and is still in excellent voice! His anecdotes were charming and meaningful, and he didn't take a break in over 2 1/2 hours! The Beacon Theatre is the IDEAL venue for this type of artist; the mood was electric but it felt so intimate to be up close to the artist and his band. Serrat's Mediterraneo Da Capo was a night to remember!
What an amazing concert! A fantastic mix of all the songs. The crowd engaged in singing and he sang 4 extra songs after getting off the stage. Absolutely perfect.
Serrat performed was outstanding and the connection with the public incredible.
