Joan Manuel Serrat on Tour
Joan Manuel Serrat -- also known as "El Nano" and "El Noi del Poble-sec" -- is an internationally acclaimed singer/songwriter whose music transcends language, distance and time. Some of his most popular songs include "Cantares," "La Mujer Que Yo Quiero," and "Tu Nombre Me Sabe a Yerba." He initially became famous for his political activism in the 1960s, using folk music as a platform to criticize the Spanish Civil War in passionate verse and song. Serrat's musicalized poetry was an instant success and would eventually shape modern music in both Spanish and Catalan languages. The album Dedicado a Antonio Machado, Poeta (1969) was a commercial triumph that earned widespread acclaim throughout Spain and Latin America, sending Serrat on tour for the first time in celebration. After winning first place at the Rio de Janeiro World Music Festival for his performance of "Penelope," the release of Mediterráneo in 1971 solidified the artist worldwide. Serrat pioneered the Catalonian "Nova Cançó" and received a medal from the Spanish government in 1995 for his incredible contributions to culture. In 2000, he was awarded a Medal of the Century by the Spanish Association of Authors and Editors (SGAE) to recognize his excellency in songwriting and celebrate his career achievements. To experience music that moves you, watch Joan Manuel Serrat live in concert as he continues to tour the Americas. It's a show you won't want to miss.
Joan Manuel Serrat in Concert
Born in Barcelona on December 27, 1947, Joan Manuel Serrat began playing music as young as 17 after getting his first guitar. In 1964, before the age of 20, a guest appearance on a radio show led to a record deal with the local label Edigsa, for which he recorded his first EP the following year. His first live performance on stage took place in 1966 at the Catalan Music Palace, but it would be another decade until Americans could see Joan Manuel Serrat on tour for the first time after he crossed over in 1976 to perform in New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles. Audiences became enamored with the Spanish musician's vocal range and lyrical style -- even those who couldn't understand his Spanish lyrics -- and quickly lined up to watch Serrat in concert to perform his wheelhouse of folk, Latin pop and classical genres.

Easy to buy tickets, easy to get them and scan them at the entrance, very good service.
People in the public was not controlled properly and gathered at the from with their mobile phones taking images of Serrat. This is an abhorrent behavior that should have been better managed! Serrat himself, extraordinary as always
Serrat was as always, great at the selection of the songs, and the execution. Great Concert
It was great sharing the experience of seeing Serrat in person with my wife and close friends attending the concert; however the overall opinion was that the show was slow, with lots of poetics and comments about music, lacking the attention and enthusiasm Serrat deserves by playing such classics as “La mujer que Yo amo”, “Caminante”, “Penelope”, and so many more, just at the end of the show, instead of during and even starting the show. We’ll continue admiring and listening Serrat, but would not recommend attending the current concert format to anyone at this time.
Last time I saw Serrat live it was in the 70's at the Amadeo Roldan theater in Havana. I was stunned to hear how close he sounded in classics like "Para la libertad". On the other hand he is equally sharp and intelligent to communicate with his audience.
We loved the venue and the concert itself. Of course, Joan Manuel Serrat is an icon of Spanish Music, the best in his genre! The only criticism I would make is that people were arriving very late, and since there was no assistance in some cases in being seated, they would find other people in their seats who had sat there before them. Then the ensuing chaos followed and meanwhile, we could not see the stage. This happened all around us. I think that the seating could be better organized, and that people should not be allowed inside after the concert has started, which started 40 minutes late anyway! Thank you!
The venue it is old, Dated . Sounds it is not the best. The worse part of the night is finding that there is not big screen, so it was hard to see the artists. Very disappointing.
Concert was excellent as expected. Accessing the seats was poorly organized, no signs, no elevator to access the top floor. Also concert started almost 30 minutes late, there should be more organization to move people to their seats and loudspeaker messages for attendants to get to their seats. For the rest it was really a great experience!
Serrat was great. I was disappointed that the show began late after asking by email to be punctual, and that the show would began at 8 o’clock. That was not the case. Other than that it was a wonderful concert.
Serrat is as good as ever, his voice is still in excellent condition and the concert was fantastic with wonderful musicians and my favorite artist, poet, person given it all! The venue is in need of a deep cleaning it was disgraceful to enter such a dirty place, meaning carpets and seating . With the prices they charge the place is in total neglect I'll try to avoid going there in the future.
Great on all aspect...!!! Was a nice privilege to participated in the retirement of one of the best artist !!! You know when is time to leave the stage and say goodbye.... Thank you much Maestro Joan Manuel Serrat. .
