About

Ever since she took center stage in 1982 classic No. 1 “I Love Rock n’ Roll,” Joan Jett and her band scored hit after hit, ranging from the soft “Crimson and Clover” to the edgy “I Hate Myself for Loving You." After her much-publicized appearance in the 2013 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, Jett reached out to a newer, younger generation of fans who totally rocked out to her high-energy vibe and powerhouse voice. The parade appearance topped off a banner year for Jett and her band, The Blackhearts, a year that included the release of “Unvarnished,” an album that spawned yet another Jett mega-hit, “Any Weather.” Even with her salty punk vibe, she quickly gained mainstream fame, so much so that Jett and her Blackhearts were the first rock group to perform on Broadway during the 1980s in a concert series that broke records for the fastest ticket sell-out.

Rejecting the glamorous pop-diva image, Jett has reveled in creating her own style of in-your-face, girl-from-the-other-side-of-the-tracks Gothic glamor that greatly influenced the subsequent generation of female rockers. A bona fide activist, Jett is considered a role model for generations of women because of her commitment to feminist causes. In addition, she is an outspoken animal rights activist and is heavily involved with groups like PETA. In 2010, Jett released a successful two-disc "Greatest Hits" album, which she followed in 2013 with “Unvarnished," a moving, uncompromising album. Jett is as much in the limelight as ever; and even her iconic “I Hate Myself For Loving You” has been transmogrified into the Sunday Night Football Theme for NBC. in 2014 Jett, along with her Blackhearts band, continue to tour throughout the world with her belty, tuneful voice; energetic, charismatic presence; and vibrant, resonating lyrics.

Scottsdale has Rocking Jett Fly Over!

by Flight53 on 7/8/12Talking Stick Resort - Scottsdale

A huge fan for years. However, first time at a Joan Jett concert. This was a small venue. The concert took place in the grand ballroom of a Native American Casino. The stage was full of equipment that was precisely placed and it showed the stage crew knew their stuff. Joan and the BH's took the stage 15 minutes late. I had the feeling however it was not their fault. The show kicked off to a great start and with a fairly decent audio mix. I was sadly disappointed when the the volume level on the third song went into over modulation! Why anyone thinks that louder is better when the sound design of equipment limits are trashed still excapes me. I don't think the soundboard was Joan's crew. When she asked for more volume they turned up her mic instead of her monitor. This resulted in a feed back issue shortly after. She was later blinded by overhead light/s; when she repeatedly asked for it to be dimmed, she was ignored. But this rocker smiled and gave the crowd an awesome rocking show. A couple of really great new songs were played. The drummer was right on! Management of this group appears anemic from the website to the show its self to ; even the t-shirt stand. Total time on stage 1 hour 14 minutes including the encore. She was booked to play OK the following night. The fans went home happy but this group really needs top notch management & promotion to take it all home. Thank you for allowing my input. Joan, thanks for coming to Arizona, please come back real soon!

    Tempe Rick

by Anonymous on 7/8/12Talking Stick Resort - Scottsdale

Joan was in good spirits and full of energy. It was a thrill to see her and sing along. I cannot though recommend the venue. The acoustics were terrible and the room was to small for her speaker system.

    Joan Jett

by Gomez08 on 7/8/12Talking Stick Resort - Scottsdale

Sound was aweful but the drummer was as good as I have seen for awhile, while Joan lacked energy and only played for about 75 min. she did play everything I hoped she would play. For my $50 I got about $25 worth of fun. 2 Stars max

joan jett is awsome as always!

by grizneg on 7/8/12Talking Stick Resort - Scottsdale

the ballroom it was held in was not the kind of place to hold a rock concert. carpet on the floor nice chairs are better suited to someone like diana krall. the concert said it was supposed to start at 7:30 pm. when it didn't start until 8:00p.m. and the whole show was only one hour long..joan has so many songs that she could easliy do two hrs. with a break in between. over all the concert was worth going to and i hope to see her here in arizona again soon. but at a better location.

Rockin" concert - movin and shakin

by RA45 on 7/7/12Talking Stick facility needs better security and crowd managementt. Many folks from rear moved to front seat middle areas standing in front and pushing aside folks from their paid seats TS staff ignored despite several requests. If pay for good seats prepare to defend alone. - Scottsdale

While the concert started about 15 minutes late, the music was pure Joan Jett. Her band members are very animated as well as great musicians. The audience was rocking 10 seconds into the show and it didn't stop for 80 minutes. Most stood thru out the show - her music just makes you want to move.

by 1JoanLover on 9/9/11Deadwood Mountain Grand - Deadwood

This was without a doubt one of the greatest concerts ever!! I and my family had second row seating at center stage. Joan is an awesome entertainer who makes you feel good when she looks you in the eye and flashes that beautiful smile of hers.

    Effing awesome

by sweetweaver on 9/7/11Deadwood Mountain Grand - Deadwood

We drove from Kansas to visit my friend in Rapid City and see Joan Jett. The show was amazing. However, the people running the show (security) were rude and abrasive. When we went to ask directions to the bathroom, they confiscated my husband's camera - after we had gotten in and went to our seats. The place was swarmed with cameras just like his! When we went to retrieve it, someone had looked through all the pictures and changed the settings. NOT COOL! It put a bit of a damper on the evening but we didn't let it ruin our experience.

    Joan Jett can still rock!

by OMYHWNC on 9/6/11Deadwood Mountain Grand - Deadwood

I thought Joan and the BlackHearts did a good job. I liked the old songs, "I love Rock and Roll", "Crimson and Clover", "I hate myself for loving you", "Bad Reputation", etc. Joan is an orginal rocker, always edgy. I didn't care much for her new stuff, a little too punk rock for my taste. As far as concerts, it was fun, I'm glad I went. Not the best concert I've been to, but still fun.

by markeherr on 9/6/11Deadwood Mountain Grand - Deadwood

Great Blackheart Classics and a consummate performer...I've wanted to see Joan Jett for thirty years and finally got my chance...I'd go again and again...thanks, Joan Jett & all the Blackhearts for a great show! Great to see that she still rocks that no nonsense down-to-earth image that made me love her way back then...she is obviously an inspiration to new talent in today's music scene.

Joan Rocks, Deadwood Grand does NOT

by Kimgrim on 9/6/11Deadwood Mountain Grand - Deadwood

First and foremost, Joan Jett was awesome. She rocked the house and loved every minute of it. The venue, however, sucked. The acoustics were horrible. I couldn't make out any of the vocals that Joan sang and I couldn't even hear the back-up singers. All I could hear was bass and drums echoing throughout the facility. Also, the tickets I had were for seats in a row that did not exist. As if that weren't enough, this was also the first concert I've ever been to that the security guards sat instead of standing and just allowed people to push their way to the front (all seats were assigned). I will not purchase tickets for another concert in this venue.

Venue should not have signed Joan at this time

by gkietzma71 on 9/6/11Deadwood Mountain Grand - Deadwood

Joan Jett and the Blackhearts played a lot of the favorite songs, but they played only 1.5 hours. The venue was not very good. No theatre seating (not installed yet) but folding chairs that were wired together. Seats were too close together and you couldn't get into the row to use them. I don't understand why the powers that be at Deadwood Mountain grand did not install a sloped floor so all the seats could be good seats. Instead all the seats except the first three rows were horrible. They spent $50 million and created a marginal-at-best concert location. Many of the concert staff were rude and took a lot of the fun out of it. Joan Jett and the Blackhearts played their hearts out, and the music side of the show was outstanding, just a short playlist. I would have given this event four (4) stars had they played just 1/2 hour longer, like most bands.

Still one of the best rockers on stage!

by CombatTVgirl on 9/6/11Deadwood Mountain Grand - Deadwood

I'm not as crazy about the venue; the concert hall at Deadwood Mountain Grand isn't built for a good music sound, it's built to be a multi-purpose hall. They also put the chairs so close together you feel like you're packed into a cattle car; there's absolutely NO room to move. But Joan Jett was great! She can still rock with the best of them, because she is still the best! It was a great show, even if the venue is slightly lacking.
