  • JJ Grey & Mofro were AWESOME!

by PokeyFLA on 1/17/11Culture Room - Ft LauderdaleRating: 5 out of 5

JJ Grey & Mofro took the stage at the Culture room and proceeded to treat everyone there to a fantastic rock n roll show. From the beginning with Georgia Warhorse the show was unstoppable with fun, dancing, and great musicianship. 3 hours later I walked out of the Culture Room really happy that I was at that show!!!

  • Best show I've seen in years

by JamesBoy on 1/17/11Culture Room - Ft LauderdaleRating: 5 out of 5

I attend lots of concerts and this was absolutely the best show I've seen in years. The musicians are fantastic, the song writing is some of the best around, the sound quality at the venue was good. I didn't see anyone there that wasn't absolutely glad they went.

They played for two hours at a totally cool venue, the culture room. Got up front, they played all the best songs. Was my 2nd time seeing them. Very awesome show.

The concert was good. They played a lot of new tunes, which were really good. They have great energy and put on an amazing show. The singer is so soulful. Culture Room is always a great place to see a show because it is so intimate.

  • good vibes = good times

These guys are awesome, the combo of southern style rock and some brass makes for an excellent experience. I highly recommend seeing a show. It's a real treat, they unexpectedly blow your face off with the trumpet and the sax! The solos are sick, everyone in the band is super talented. Go see them.

  • JJ Grey and band were soulful and funky!!

by MamaStevie on 12/7/10Vogue Theatre - IndianapolisRating: 5 out of 5

I enjoyed the band very much! We stood right in front seeing everything and everyone! I enjoyed how distinct each instrument sounded and resonated with the rest of the music!

Well, they had everything. Jazz, blues, southern rock, soul, southern baptist, and good ol' rock-n-roll. The warm-up band in Chicago was much better though. The sound in Indy was much better. Absolutely will be there next year as well! About the only thing better would be the Dave Mathews Band.

  • Love me some JJ!

  • Fantastic...

by Phudco on 12/3/10The Ark - Ann ArborRating: 5 out of 5

I am 46 years old and have been seeing live music my whole life. This was by far the best single night of live music I've ever experienced. The level of talent for seven musicians on one stage simply cannot be matched. I hope JJ Grey and Mofro go on to great things, but if not, I hope they continue to play the Ark and Ann Arbor whenever they can. I'll be there.

  • Great band, a "must see" live show

by Maher on 12/2/10The Intersection - Grand RapidsRating: 5 out of 5

I saw JJ gray & Mofro open for Buddy Guy earlier this summer. They were awesome. They seemed like a odd pairing with Buddy Guy, but buy the end of there set they got the whole house rocking. First time in a while I was hoping for a encore of a opening act. The opportunity came at the Intersection. Headliners for their new album: "Georgia Warhorse", they put on a killer show. They were even better the second time! If your sick of all the pop rock and "alternative" music that has flood the market, go see this band or get buy one of their albums. These guys put the "feel good" back into music, and are produce a timeless sound of real rock and roll. The Albums sound great, and they sound even better live. Glad to be a fan, hope to see them again soon! If they are headed your way, go see this band.

  • First time = Ryan Montbleau

by SSevere on 11/27/10Paradise Rock Club - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

This show was such a success! Ryan Montbleau Band sounds great live! Their performance is outstanding. Their personalities are what really made the show, not just their music. You can't go wrong with Ryan Montbleau Band if you enjoy their music, it is a must.

  • My ears are ringing!

by Yamestergator on 11/26/10Paradise Rock Club - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Ryan Montbleu opened with a good, but LONG set. I don't know if it was because I was wedged up front and didn't want to leave, but it seemed like he played for hours. He's a good songwriter, though, and has a great voice. JJ Grey and Mofro played a blistering set spanning over their entire catalog. Every one of them (especially JJ) looked like he was having an absolute blast, which is great to see in a band that tours relentlessly. Since it was their first time in Boston since the release of their latest album, Georgia Warhorse, they played almost half of that album, but made sure to sprinkle it in throughout the whole set to not bore anyone unfamiliar with it. JJ loved the audience's reception, and had us sing along in every song that a singalong was remotely possible for. Personal favorites included Ho Cake, Orange Blossoms, Lochloosa, and Slow Hot & Sweaty. The one song that I really wanted to hear but didn't was Dew Drops (or Lullaby), I was hoping for one of them during the encore but no dice. In the end, though, they played for more than two hours and completely wore me out! Awesome. Paradise looks great - a lot of construction was done over the summer months, which explains the lack of shows. The result is a much better flow, and a club that feels much larger, even though it was only expanded a little. Don't let the House of Blues take business away from this club, it's by far the best place in Boston for live music!
