About

Jimmy Eat World in Concert

Jimmy Eat World started in 1993 as a punk trio formed by childhood friends Jim Adkins and Zach Lind. After years of hard work in the studio and on the road, the band settled on a poppier sound, hitting the spotlight in 2001 with breakthrough album Bleed American. The album included several successful singles including "The Middle," which reached No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and became an MTV staple. After extensive touring in support of the album, the band returned to the studio for 2004's Futures, which peaked at No. 6 and earned the band another No. 1 single with "Pain." Chase This Light in 2007 and Invented in 2010 would achieve similar success, cementing the band's role as one of the most successful indie acts in the business.

In 2013, Jimmy Eat World celebrated 20 years of independently released records with Damage, their critically-acclaimed eighth studio album. At their live concerts, the band delivers a blast of non-stop energy and enthusiasm, delighting ticket buyers with heavy guitar riffs, boisterously precise drum solos, and three-part vocal harmonies anchored by the familiar croon of frontman Jim Adkins. 2013's Damage saw the band transition from teen-angst rock towards a more sophisticated sound, with lyrical content taking on a markedly more mature tone on singles like the album's title track and "I Will Steal You Back."

Jimmy Eat World on Tour

Jimmy Eat World announced their Criminal Energy Tour in 2020. The 20-date summer run starts in Atlanta, GA on August 6, 2020 and culminates in a hometown gig in Phoenix, AZ, Labor Day Weekend, on September 5, 2020. New Jersey-based The Front Bottoms join the tour as direct support with Turnover and Joyce Manor splitting the duties of opening the festivities on select dates. Jimmy Eat World continues the 2020 roadshow in support of their "bold, brave and ultimately defiant" (NME) 10th studio album, Surviving. With 10 records to pull from, the sets will prove to satisfy all fans new and old. Over the course of their career, Jimmy Eat World have sold venues such as Saint Andrews Hall (Detroit) to capacity, as well as 713 Music Hall (Houston), and The Masonic (San Francisco).

I had been waiting for this show for over 6 years (I missed them the last time they were in Atlanta), and I was definitely NOT disappointed. My friend and I both had a blast. I was a little leery of the loose security at the venue though. No biggie.

I love Jimmy Eat World and this performance just made me realize why they are so talented. Every song was filled with so much energy and kept us all mesmerized. I have to say, The Middle, May Angels Lead you in and 23 were my favorites. I had the greatest time ever!

    Ending on a high note

by Koyote1978 on 9/24/10Center Stage Theatre - Atlanta

Liked the venue. Maybe I'm getting old but I enjoy a clean toilet and decent bar service. The concert was great and like every good concert it ended on a high note with some of the best songs in the encore. I only missed the accoustic version of "the middle" and "blister".

    Never a disappointment

by JofaceM on 9/23/10Center Stage Theatre - Atlanta

This is only my second time going to see Jimmy Eat World live, but my brother and uncle have been going for over 10 years and I have been listening to them that long, but they just put on an incredible show. It always seems like one day a band will just stop being good, but that is not the case for Jimmy. Jimmy Eat World is like a fine wine: only better with time. The show was absolutley fantastic and I've never seen a better live performance by any band and I think it has something to do with how much the band is enjoying it.

Jimmy Eat World changed my life

by Emily182 on 9/23/10Center Stage Theatre - Atlanta

I really have no words to fully describe this experience. They blew me away completely. I am a hardcore Jimmy Eat World fan, and they delivered and moved me with their performance in a way I was not expecting. Even with the excessive overused smoke machine, they still managed to make me walk away changed for the better.

    Third Time's The Charm

by countessmary on 9/23/10Center Stage Theatre - Atlanta

I've loved Jimmy Eat World since 2001. My brother sent me two songs from their Bleed American album and I knew I had to see them in concert. I managed to score tickets to a concert while they were touring with Blink 182 and Green Day in California shortly after. Because of ticketing issue with the venue, I missed almost their entire set, including my favorite song at the time, Praise Chorus. Several years later, and back in Ohio, I bought my brother, sister, sister-in-law, and myself tickets as a Christmas present. Three days before the concert I managed to get so sick that I ended up in the hospital. I had to give my ticket up and miss them once again. This time I was prepared. I got to the venue an hour early and I'd already put myself on preventative antibiotics that weekend because there was no way I was missing them again. Was it all worth it!? Hell YES! The opening band Citizen Twilight was a great way to open the show. They had kind of a Muse/U2/Silversun Pickups kind of feel and had a great energy. I grabbed both a t-shirt and their album so I'm looking forward to hearing what they sound like in the studio. As for Jimmy Eat World, they played a great mix of old and new stuff. It was like the perfect concert experience. With the smallish venue of Center Stage but the large audience the vibe was just amazing, coming off in waves. With both the rocking explosions that are "Pain" and "Sweetness" mixed in with the catharsis of "Hear You Me" and "For Me This is Heaven," the concert just filled me with an untampable joy. Thanks for a great show guys!

Jimmy Eat World at Center Stage 2010

by SWhaley on 9/23/10Center Stage Theatre - Atlanta

JEW put together a great set tonight. They began with My Best Theory from the new album, Invented. Then, continued to play 15 songs from various albums (other than Static Prevails), mixing in a few new tracks. There was even an acoustic Here You Me. The last song was Goodbye Sky Harbor, which didn't clock in at the album length of 18 minutes. Instead, some of Jim's vocals were looped using an echo machine, as he played the bells for the closing minutes. I was most surprised by a 4 song encore of 23, Pain, The Middle, and Sweetness. Perfect.

    What a night!

by cmirishred1 on 9/23/10Center Stage Theatre - Atlanta

What an amazing rock show! The guys plus one girl for this tour were awesome. They played for about 1:40 and what a great selection of song they played. Some old, some new. The sound was great and it was one of the best rock n' roll shows I've ever seen.

    Fantastic Show!

by Trellie44 on 9/23/10Center Stage Theatre - Atlanta

This was certainly the best show I've seen in a very long time, and I've seen lots over my 53 years. (yes, I'm an old rocker) Jim was completely high energy and they band was extremely tight for the first show of the tour. The sold-out small 1,000 seat venue was fully engaged for the entire show. It was a blast. Hope they don't wait for another four years to get back to Atlanta.

    Great Show!!

by Carrigan on 9/23/10Center Stage Theatre - Atlanta

This was the 3rd time I've seen Jimmy, and like before, they blew me away. They were energetic, played a good mix from all their albums, except Static Prevails. They threw in some surprises. I loved their performance of "For Me This Is Heaven," "Sweetness," and Goodbye Sky Harbor. They played for almost 2 hours and put on a great show. Lots of fun!! Can't wait to see them again! The opener was good too!!

This was a great show and venue. It started off really good, even though there first song was "My Best Theory" which is a great song however no one in the crowd new it since the album had yet to be released. With songs like that and "A Praise Chorus" and "Work" everyone was getting into it. Then towards the end of the set they began to play several slow songs and new songs. In my opinion this could have been mixed into the set better because the excitement was immediately taken out of the crowd(don't get me wrong though I love the songs). But then they redeemed themselves with a awesome and intergetic encore.

    Great Show

by gbmea42 on 9/23/10Center Stage Theatre - Atlanta

Jimmy Eat World was awesome! we where late to the show, so we didn't get to see much of the opening bands set. What we did see of it was great... When Jimmy Eat World took stage the place went electric. they are one of the few bands in my opinion that sound better / tighter / more convincing live than on CD... Good Show!
