About

Jimmy Eat World in Concert

Jimmy Eat World started in 1993 as a punk trio formed by childhood friends Jim Adkins and Zach Lind. After years of hard work in the studio and on the road, the band settled on a poppier sound, hitting the spotlight in 2001 with breakthrough album Bleed American. The album included several successful singles including "The Middle," which reached No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and became an MTV staple. After extensive touring in support of the album, the band returned to the studio for 2004's Futures, which peaked at No. 6 and earned the band another No. 1 single with "Pain." Chase This Light in 2007 and Invented in 2010 would achieve similar success, cementing the band's role as one of the most successful indie acts in the business.

In 2013, Jimmy Eat World celebrated 20 years of independently released records with Damage, their critically-acclaimed eighth studio album. At their live concerts, the band delivers a blast of non-stop energy and enthusiasm, delighting ticket buyers with heavy guitar riffs, boisterously precise drum solos, and three-part vocal harmonies anchored by the familiar croon of frontman Jim Adkins. 2013's Damage saw the band transition from teen-angst rock towards a more sophisticated sound, with lyrical content taking on a markedly more mature tone on singles like the album's title track and "I Will Steal You Back."

Jimmy Eat World on Tour

Jimmy Eat World announced their Criminal Energy Tour in 2020. The 20-date summer run starts in Atlanta, GA on August 6, 2020 and culminates in a hometown gig in Phoenix, AZ, Labor Day Weekend, on September 5, 2020. New Jersey-based The Front Bottoms join the tour as direct support with Turnover and Joyce Manor splitting the duties of opening the festivities on select dates. Jimmy Eat World continues the 2020 roadshow in support of their "bold, brave and ultimately defiant" (NME) 10th studio album, Surviving. With 10 records to pull from, the sets will prove to satisfy all fans new and old. Over the course of their career, Jimmy Eat World have sold venues such as Saint Andrews Hall (Detroit) to capacity, as well as 713 Music Hall (Houston), and The Masonic (San Francisco).

    Jimmy Eat World LIVE

    by Lionel M. on 7/23/23

It has been 16 years since I saw Jimmy Eat World play in concert. I was stoked to see them play at the Greek Theatre! Jimmy Eat World played awesome and I had a great time watching them play my favorite songs. The venue was great, too. It was my first time attending the Greek Theatre in person. I enjoyed my time and look forward to seeing my favorite artists play at the Greek Theatre.

    Horrible sound

    by Jonathan on 7/23/23

Quite a few of us felt the sound was so muffled at the Greek that it was almost refund worthy. The band was good and this was not our first time seeing Jimmy Eat World though this was the first time with such bad audio. Apparently the comments on their pages are the same. The San Diego show seemed to have audio problem as well so I don’t know if it’s a venue issue or a band issue

    Amazing Experience!

    by Honey on 7/22/23

I had the best time at the concert and the music was soooo surreal. Wish I could do it all over again!

Jimmy Eat World Owns the Stage

    by Acamags on 7/22/23

This was my third time seeing Jimmy Eat World and they do not disappoint. The band sounded great and worked the stage. There is also no doubt as to how much this band appreciates their fans. The atmosphere at The Greek can’t be beat.

The sound was way off for Jimmy Eat World

    by Poor sound on 7/22/23

This was my 7th Jimmy Eat World show and by far the worst sound mixing of all of them. Lyrics sounded muffled and bass was heavy and guitars were very low. Still loved singing along to all my favorites. Just wish the sound was better

Manchester Orchestra & Jimmy Eat World

    by Rick on 7/22/23

Everything was great except for the sound of Jimmy Eat World. The sound mixer had the bass guitar level too high. It overpowered the sound of the drums. Instead of lowering the bass guitar volume the drum volume was raised. You could barely hear the guitars and the singers voice volume was too low. Whoever did that mixing did not do Jimmy Eat World justice or their own job for that matter

The sound mix nearly ruined the show.

    by John R on 7/22/23

So obviously I’m stoked to have been able to see Manchester Orchestra and Jimmy Eat World as a longtime fan, and MO had a great set, but whatever the sound engineers did to Jimmy’s mix was atrocious. The vocals were too quiet, and sounded like they were run through a weird compressor that cut off the high frequencies. Otherwise, it was my first time at The Greek and I see why it’s so many folk’s favorite venue! Great view from basically everywhere and being tucked in the hills is really cool. I’ll be back but I hope the sound is better next time.

    3 bands - 3 crowds

    by Vanessa on 7/22/23

I went to see the Manchester Orchestra at Greek Theatre LA. Honestly, while I enjoyed being at the Greek, in hindsight, it was stupid going. If you want to see just one out of the three bands, that are going on stage one after another, don’t go. Most of the crowd was there for Jimmy Eat World and did not, at all, vibe to the other two bands. It was incredibly boring, because the atmosphere was so flat, so I actually left early.

    Why Does Manchester Orchestra exist?

    by E42 on 7/22/23

Arrived at the beautiful Greek theater just as Manchester Orchestra was starting. Was not familiar with them before, and actively hate them now. First, they’re neither from Manchester nor were they an orchestra. They were just another group of 4 white dudes with guitars. Then, they played about 10 songs too many. The music was emotional without having ant soul behind it. They were like an emo Dave Mathews Band minus a fiddle player and diversity. The songs were like bad fishermen-no hooks. I don’t understand how they got booked as co-headliner on this tour. Next time make them play last as the co headliner so people will be able to comfortably leave early before they play and get a nice early night in.

    Good concert, weak sound

    by Cactus Jack on 7/22/23

All the bands were great. My only complaint is the strict decibel level ordinance at The Greek Theater. The overall sound left a lot to be desired, especially from bands like Manchester Orchestra and Jimmy Eat World. The energy the bands had on stage didn’t translate beyond the sound board. The mix was inconsistent throughout the concert.

    Live sound engineer

    by Andrew on 7/22/23

The bands were all great … the sound was terrible .. it was so quiet. I could hear the guitar amps on stage louder than the speakers. I could somehow hear the people talking behind me louder than the music, In all three bands, the backing vocals were louder than the main singer’s vocals. I usually love the Greek- but this experience was not great.

    Sound too low

    by MichCat on 7/22/23

It was super fun. I think the volume could've been turned up a little bit.

    Poor Sound Quality

    by EGal on 7/20/23

The venue is spacious and for an unbearably hot day in Seattle, it was nice a cool inside. Drinks and food pries are obnoxious, but as to be expected. The sound quality was AWFUL. We could not hear the guitar, vocals went from way too loud to not loud enough. I expected more from a major venue.

    Perfection

    by Rickfan on 7/18/23

My family of four loved every minute. We walked in when the doors opened, got our merch and sat in comfortable seats before the show started. Throughout the concert we went back and forth from the floor to the seats. The music rocked from all 3 bands. We'd do it again in a heartbeat!

    Just Blown Away

    by Chelsie on 7/18/23

The show was amazing. The band was on fire and the set list was so good. I kept missing the few times my hometown band was coming up to my new home in Seattle so I was glad to find I was finally going to see them. I hope this means I will be seeing them more. The show was just exactly what I needed and my first time in a GA situation. Just EPIC.

    Jimmy is Washed

    by JG on 7/18/23

Jimmy was just not good. Dead crowd, zero hype and then the most mid performance. Thank god Manchester closed the night, I would have been devastated to have Jimmy’s set be the ringing in my ears for the rest of the night.

    Great performances, but harsh production

    by HumanCalculator98 on 7/18/23

Middle Kids, Jimmy Eat World, and Manchester Orchestra all put on great shows. But the sound quality was not great for any act. If I hadn’t brought earbuds to cut off harsh frequencies, my ears may have been ringing into the next day. I’m a metalhead, so I like my music loud. But I’m also an amateur producer, and I make sure to cut out grating frequencies if I can. To be fair, it seems like it would be difficult to get a great sound in a room that has concrete floors and metal ceilings, but it seems to me that a couple tweaks could have made the mix reach the “pretty good” level. Manchester Orchestra had the clearest mix, but it was still too loud and too harsh. I’ve yet to attend a rock concert that has a mix of comparable quality to the studio album, so I don’t think the harshness and volume is unique to WAMU.

    No parking

    by LynS on 7/18/23

Drove around for an hour looking for a parking spot. No luck, so we drove back home without seeing the show. Very disappointed. Guess we’ll look into public transportation if we ever decide to visit Seattle again.
