Great music from one of the Texas greats. The musicians were so talented.
Terrific show from Jimmie and the Tilt-A-Whirl Band! Good energy in the crowd and Jimmie played to it.
This was the first stop on Jimmies tour...It was awesome! He did a meet and greet after the show, and was very gracious, and signed merchandise. Best night I've had watching live music for a while...Two thumbs up from me!
Jimmie and LouAnn were just incredible! No one and I mean no one plays the blues and sings the blues like Jimmie and LouAnn. Rhythym section was incredible as well! Sound was great (although, it could have been louder and we were sitting right in front center). Super venue, and service wasn't bad either. Love the show and love the Showcase...wish it wasn't so far from where I live in Woburn.
This was my first show at Showcase Live, Jimmie Vaughn did not dissappoint. His entire band was great. Jimmie has a genuine love for his audience. Lou Ann Barton added a real old time Texas style blues feeling to the show. Jimmie and Lou Ann were playing off each other nicely. Gregg Piccollo, sax player, originally from Roomful of Blues, did a nice job as well. He has a great voice. Jimmie signed autographs after the show and spent time with each and every person. All I wanted was a big Texas style hug, which I got. I may plan a trip to Anton's in Austin to see them on their own turf.
I bought these tickets for my husband because he is a fan. I really have not listened to that much of Jimmie before the concert but let me just say.......HE WAS AWESOME!!! Very good entertainment at a reasonable price!!! The whole band was AWESOME. We had a GREAT time!!!!
My wife and I enjoyed the performance. It started fifteen minutes late but played without interruption for an hour and one-half. This seemed to be an extra thirty minutes for a casino show. Almost all of the seats in that venue are good. We were able to select seats where no one would walk in front of us during the performance.
This was a fantastic show. The venue was small enough to allow you to get right up there to see Jimmy and Lou Ann Barton up close. He brings those Austin roots, which I am a veteran of as a native Texan, to the stage for sure. Many blues bands are using the stand up bass now with the Saxes, and it gives a very rich sound to go with the guitar. I have to say that the opening act of Chris Gill, FIngers Taylor, and Lisa Mills, Mississippi natives all, almost stole the show. Chris gets better every year and Fingers (a Mississippi legend) appears to be on a good road now and just as talented as ever. Lisa Mills was a pleasure. What a talent. She deserves to hit it big. I loved the evening. Even stayed up past my bed time for an old dude.
This is the first time I saw Jimmie Vaughn perform in person. He was awesome and the band was hot. The Northern Lights Theater was great as well. I will go see more shows there in the future. Jimmie stayed after the show to make sure he met everyone that was there to meet him.
Pure excellence. I thoroughly enjoyed this show. What a performance!
Jimmie showed and reminded us why he is one of the most celebrated and revered Blues musicians ever. He makes it look easy and his sound is as strong as ever. Having Lou Ann Barton join him was great and the Tilt-A-Whirl band complements his sound and style perfectly!
Jimmie Vaughan is a fascinating guitarist which I always knew and was still impressed with is no nonsense ripping of his guitar. The Tilt a Whirls were great as well...happy to see a top notch brass section...and the rythm guitar appeared he could play lead almost anywhere else...drummer never missed a beat and was pleasently surprised to see Lou Ann Barton on stage...I'd do it again tonight if Jimmie and his band were at the same venue. AWESOME!
Too much rockabilly not enough blues. Female singer was too shrilly and Jimmie tried to be heard over her voice and it didn't sound good.
The show was great. It lasted almost 2 hours. If you like Texas style blues, this for you. The only downer was the female vocalist who was over amplified and at times sounded screechy. BUT FOR $20.00, can't complain.
He always puts on a great show (seen him three times) and this was no exception. See him if you get the chance!
I had the pleasure to hang out with Jimmie at the Coach House in SanJuan Capistrano last September. He is really down to earth and very personable. We talked for about 30 minutes and during that time he also signed my Jimmie Vaughn strat. We took some photos together and it was all to cool. Talked about his days growing up in Texas. He is one of the greats....no doubt!! I also leaned he shops at Trader Joes. He takes care of his health. But the best was at the end, on my way out the door he was signing autographs and he noticed I was headed out and said, "hey Larry, I enjoyed out visit this afternoon! and reached over the counter to shake my hand!! That itself topped the show off. Thanks JIMMIE!
My girlfriend and I went to see Vimmie Vaughn at the Rythym Room in Phoenix Az last week. The venue was small, but very cool. Not only did Jiimie have us dancing the entire time, the opening band rocked as well. It was a great night and suggest it to anyone!
Maybe if Vaughan had a better place to play than the sardine-packed Rhythm Room in Phoenix, he'd be more comfortable. Heat, poor ventilation, and sheer mass of bodies in the packted-out show couldn't have been fun for the band, either. Add to that Jimmy's poor vocals, "... put your hands up and step away from the mike, slow-ly" and the show just wasn't anything even close to special. Even the crowd was yelling, "Stevie! Stevie!", for him to play some of his brother's stuff -- because what he was laying down was boring as hell. And shame of the RRoom for selling more tickets for the $$ and to hell with patron (or band) comfort. It's just flat out greed.
This was a packed house and exciting event. The crowd seemed to be mostly longtime fans, and Jimmie did not disappoint. It was a really fun concert, especially for such a small venue which was standing room only. I wish I could go every night!
JV was really on this night. I've seen him 5 or 6 times over the last 7 years and this was the best. Miss seeing Bill Willis on keyboards but the additions of the horn section (2) was a nice treat. Lou Ann Barton belted out a few with ease and sincerity. What a deal for $20!!!! Go see them whenever they come to your town!
