Jim Norton
by Anonymous on 12/5/17The Wellmont Theater - MontclairRating: 3 out of 5Our seats were great at the Wellmont and the opener was amusing, but Jim Norton was incredibly disappointing for me. He went for low hanging fruit jokes by making fun of people with disabilities and, despite previous statements to the media, unnecessarily defending Louis CK's actions as "not that bad" (while conveniently omitting references to some of the accusers' more egregious claims against CK) for a good portion of the act. I felt incredibly uncomfortable when he did a pointed attack against someone who indicated that she had been sexually assaulted. I love to laugh and appreciate thought-provoking humor. However, this show was not thoughtful. While parts of the set were genuinely amusing and/ or provided an interesting (although not necessarily my)perspective, much of it reeked of an inability to empathize with people different than Jim Norton's self. I would not see him again.
