    A wonderful tribute!

by Spinedoctor on 3/20/14The Peabody Auditorium - Daytona Beach

Jim and the band did indeed do a wonderful tribute to John Denver and I believe that John himself would have been proud. They performed a wide selection of John's hit songs, spanning John's full career. During the show, I was able to look around the audience and see the people really getting into the music, in much the same way as they did years ago at John Denver's concerts. After the show, Jim, his wife, Anne, and Diane Ireland came out and graciously met with the audience and they were very personable and down-to-earth with their conversation. All in all, a great show and tribute to the great singer-songwriter John Denver. I would go to their concert every night if I could and I can't wait for them to come back to Daytona Beach!

    A Pale Comparison

by Redhead65 on 3/16/14Dallas Symphony Orchestra Pops Series - Dallas

I was very disappointed! The only reason I didn't give this concert a Zero rating is that its not available to give. I have seen John Denver. Mr. Curry is alas, not John Denver, (not even close) despite his very obvious attempt to look like and sound like the immortal Mr. Denver. Mr. Curry’s introductions rather than anecdotal, were maudlin and poorly veiled pandering to sell his own cd’s. From what I can gather he makes his living imitating John Denver. The high notes, rather than soaring, were screeched. The guitar playing was in general, not up to an average high school backyard strum. The drummer (who obviously thought he was the star) BOOM CHUKKA, BOOM CHUKKA, BOOM CHUCKA’D (apparently the only rift he knew) so loudly it made every song painful to listen to. When he played the bongos, every song took on a decidedly calypso air. His band included his wife (a touching addition) a base player, a flute player, a few members of The Dallas Symphony Orchestra (I thought it was an orchestra concert when I bought the tickets) and a former member of Mr. Denvers band. ( I guess everyone has to eat). Don’t waste your money seeing Mr Cury. Spend it on the recorded works of John Denver. You will be glad you didn't waste your time or money on this pale comparison.

    Skeptical

    by Rockymountainlow on 6/19/11Snoqualmie Casino-Ballroom - Snoqualmie

Sat in front row - could barely hear vocal of lead singer. Band was to loud, drowned out some vocals. Lead singer trying mostly to sell CD's for him and other band members after a short show. Lead singer longest picture on the screen was his wedding picture. Don't recall one song where just the lead singer and his guitar entertained us - he is very talented, but to bad he did not demonstrate that to us - he always felt he needed a loud band on all songs. Would have like to hear This Old Guitar and/or For You; vs. songs that Denver was thinking of recording. I rate it a 2.

That was John Denver!!! It was great to see and hear him again. Also, loved seeing and hearing his former band members and the stories.

Jim Curry - Tribute to John Denver

    by Colleen60 on 6/18/11Snoqualmie Casino-Ballroom - Snoqualmie

My husband and I very much enjoyed this concert. The few hours performance was non stop and quite a crowd pleaser. Many sang along and the time flew by way fast. I would defnitely see him again!

    Sounds just like John Denver

    by Kerrr on 6/18/11Snoqualmie Casino-Ballroom - Snoqualmie

I saw him a couple years ago in Renton with a very small audience, glad to see the ballroom was full, that will hopefully mean he'll be back. Great line up of songs, it went exactly 1 1/2 hours, would have been nice if it were a little longer.

    Thoroughly enjoyable!!

    by Dewbark on 6/18/11Snoqualmie Casino-Ballroom - Snoqualmie

Was amazed how much Jim Curry looks like & sounds like John Denver! And then, to find out his wife's name is Ann...just like John's ex-wife!! What a coincidence! My only complaint is that I wished the show could have gone on forever...but, 1-1/2 hours was well worth the price of the ticket!
