Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter Jill Scott has long been number one to fans of neo soul, but it wasn’t until her fourth album, 2011’s The Light of the Sun, that she attained the No. 1 Billboard position to match. From the breakbeat of lead single “Shame (feat. Eve & The A Group)” to the laid-back groove of “Golden,” the album showcases her signature blend of soulful vocals and spoken word. Originally discovered by Questlove of The Roots during a live poetry reading, Scott would go on to release three studio albums – and earn three Grammys – in the 2000s, including Best Urban/Alternative performance for 2005 hit “Cross My Mind.” On tour in 2013, ticket buyers have been loving her commanding vocal performances and the throwback style of her live band.

Jill Scott’s show was amazing. She came out singing her a$$ off, and she took the time to talk us through her album and her experiences that lead to each song being made. She is so fun, funny, and truly a beautiful spirit to witness.
Jill Scott gave a hell of a performance....one for the ages. One of the best live acts I have seen. Was not disappointed in her at all. It is such a shame that 5 star performance was conducted in a 1 star venue. The Chicago Theater gets less than one star for its inadequate facilities and security. Concession stands poorly staffed resulting in inordinately long lines and wait times. Poor number of restrooms for female patrons. Ushers allowing people to stand during the performance and block the view of patrons that were unfortunate enough to be seated behind them. Again, loved Jill.....the Chicago Theater, on the other hand, total loss.
Words cannot begin to describe the performance that Jill Scott put on in Chicago on July 25!! This was my birthday gift to myself and Jill did not disappoint. She sang all of my jams from her first album with a live band accompanying her which made the show tens of thousands times better. The lights, the sounds, the aura of it all made me feel the music in my mind, body spirit. I’m a huge fan and can’t wait to see her again!!
I did Spot Hero for parking and I parked in the garage right by the theater. Getting into the theater was fine, lines were not too bad. The ushers were great and very lively. But the concert was so wonderful! Jill Scott did a great job. I really enjoyed the concert.
Jill Scott did not disappoint. From the moment she walked on stage she was in her element. She sang the house down with her amazing voice. So glad I got to experience her music live. 23 years later the songs are still amazing.
As a child I was mesmerized by Jill Scott only knowing a few songs by her. Since growing into adulthood, I’ve had the pleasure of being reintroduced to her music on a whole other level and understanding why I loved her in the first place. From this, I had to finally see her to get the experience that was only capable of having in person rather than through my earbuds. She was just so real. I enjoyed the show and would love to see her perform again in the near future.
Jill Scott concert was one of the best concert that I had attended this year.
My only gripe is the show started 1 hour later than advertised but Jill rocked the house
I was a little upset because she was 1.5 hours late. When she finally arrived she delivered. She was definitely worth the wait. She is such a passionate singer. I love the way she told 'her story' with all of her songs.
Jill was amazing, the dj that played music before she came out was terrible, he didn't know how to get the crowd going. He played a lot of rap music at a R&B concert. I will see Jill Scott again.
Jill Scott did a Phenomenal job on a Monday Night!!! We really enjoyed the concert and I look forward to seeing her again whenever she returns to the Chicago Metropolitan area...
According to all marketing, the Monday, July 24 concert at the Chicago Theater was scheduled to begin at 7pm. Doors even opened at 6pm. But to my dismay, the concert didn't start until 8:30pm. I was extremely unhappy about the 90+ minute wait considering I arrived between 6:30 and 7pm consideing the concert was scheduled to begin at 7pm. I have been to enough concerts to know that most don't start on time but 90 minutes late is unacceptable. Many people who arrived on time began to doze off as they waited. Despite the ridiculously long wait for the concert to begin, I must admit that Jill gave an awesome show. Even though the concert was exceptional, with LIVE music, audience engagement and Jill's soulful voice taking us down memory lane of many of her older hits, I don't know if any concert is worth a 90 minute wait. Either the promoters or the venue need to be upfront about the actual start time. For people who are late, that's on them. But those who arrive on time shouldn't be penalized.
My experience with Jill Scott is never disappointing. One of few that sounds good as the cd or better. So D🔥PE!
Jill Scott performed her entire debut album and bonus songs. Her energy and connection with her fans was felt from the moment she took the stage until her encore song. The musicians and dancers were all outstanding! Well worth the price of the tickets. The only downside was that we waited for 90 minutes before the concert started. That’s a long time to wait on a Monday night for middle aged adults with jobs to go to in the morning. Everything else was great!
Great performance from Jill and band held in a beautiful theater. I love it!
This concert was supposed to start at 7:00. To have the audience airing till 8:42 when Jill came on stage (almost 2-hours) is absurd. Her mike was very low. Could hardly hear her singing. Heard the audience and band more. A disappointment.
Jill Scott was phenomenal!!!! She is an awesome artist. The vocals and the live band were great. When she comes to your city, don't miss this show.
Jilly from Philly! We love you Boo!! I really enjoyed her showmanship and style! Amazing show!!
The show was excellent. The crowd was 99% polite. Only a few people stood up in the way. The seats were the best on the main level. The DJ wasn't the best but Jill made up for it.
