Jessie Reyez in Concert
Combining unapologetic lyrics with in-your-face vocals, Toronto-born singer-songwriter Jessie Reyez is one of pop's brashest personalities. Reyez played guitar as a child and realized she was a music writer while in high school. In 2014 she collaborated with Chicago-based MC King Louie on his Canada-saluting track "Living in the Sky." In 2016 she broke through on her own with "Figures," a stark post-breakup track paired with a gripping video that showcased Reyez's raw feeling. "Evoking emotion from people is always a byproduct," Reyez told Genius. "It's not like I aimed to do that, but it's a beautiful byproduct that happens to come from certain songs."
Now, as a recipient of a JUNO award, 2018 Breakthrough Artist of the Year, she could say her subsequent catalog has been an object lesson in releasing that byproduct. Her debut EP, 2017's 'Kiddo,' was steeped in feeling while also showing off her musical range and the delirious "Shutter Island" pairs her yowl with macabre carnival music, while "Great One" shows off her softer side, its plush synths allowing her to luxuriate in existential questions like "What is life? What is love? What is time? What is choice?" The harrowing 'Kiddo' track "Gatekeeper," accompanied by a short film that she cowrote, turned a #MeToo-worthy experience from years ago that almost led to her quitting the music business into an artistic triumph.
While gearing up for the release of her second EP, 'Being Human in Public,' Reyez has kept busy with guest appearances and relentless touring. Her reworking of "Figures," performed with fellow Canadian Daniel Caesar at the 2018 JUNO Awards, added a dramatic twist to the song's heartbroken narrative; her turn as Eminem's foil on the controversial MC's 2018 track "Nice Guy" shows how she can hold her own against music's biggest names; and her performances at festivals like Lollapalooza and Afropunk have electrified huge crowds. Reyez's rise is proof that pure feeling can be a powerful connector.

She made contact with me SERVERAL times ! She’s is an Amazing little ball of energy. It’s was an AMAZING show. Most of her fans are EXTREMELY nice and kind and staff over there was 10/10. And not to mention HER BAND! OMG they were soooo incredibly amazing ! Overall the best concert ever and hopefully I’ll get too see her again in the near future :)
This was my first time seeing her and the audience energy matched hers. The show was so great and her voice was so beautiful and powerful. I would go see her again :)
Concert was awesome.... this was the 1st concert my wife and I have had since covid hit! The venue was beautiful.... the drinks were really pricey.... the nachos had cold cheese and considering i paid $7 i would of loved some hot cheese on them! 3 bathroom stalls for the entire upstairs was a little bit wild but we managed! The concert seemed more intimate since the venue was smaller.... thats a plus in my book! Our seats were great even considering that we were on the balcony level! And Jessie Reyes was everything we expected and more!
Seeing Jessie preform Thursday night here in San Antonio was a dream come true. It was definitely a night I will never forget.

If it wasn’t for Eminem & his two songs featuring her, me & my two sisters would have never known that this jewel existed. After listening to her, me & my sisters loved her music much more than we expected. Us three are going to her concert in Atlanta this year. She’s so energetic, especially when I saw her at Coachella, but a bummer I couldn’t get to meet her. I hope this time me & my sisters will get that shot.
Jessie is so amazing and humble! Third time seeing her and I still get blown away by her passion. Once in a generation type of artist for sure. So if you can go see her, GO!!!
Jessie reyez is the best 31 year old entertainer on the plant... She has an energy that is inspiring... She loves what she is blessed to do and it shows on a very high level... BUT...This generation has to realize that i paid to hear Jessie sing.... Not to listen to a crowd singing as if were a Karaoke club who at times drowned her out... Don't get me wrong its hard not to sing along being jessie has many great songs but there should be some etiquette given to the performer to do what we paid to hear...
