JESSE COOK IN CONCERT:
Canadian guitarist Jesse Cook is one contemporary flamenco's most beloved acts, combining unparalleled guitar work with elements of world music and jazz on his elegant compositions. Possessing a deep, first-hand knowledge of gypsy musical traditions, Cook has earned himself opening slots for luminaries including B.B. King and Ray Charles, but it's his recent solo shows that have really turned heads. Whether he's showing off his furious finger-picking skills on "Tempest" or slowing things down with "Europa," fans can expect an unforgettable night of music at his 2014 tour dates.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Born in Paris, Jesse Cook spent his early years moving between various European locales including the South of France and Barcelona. There, he was introduced to the sound of gypsy guitarists like Manitas de Plata, a discovery that proved formative as he developed his own flamenco-inspired playing style. After receiving extensive musical training in the US and Canada, Cook got his big break at the 1995 Catalina Jazz Festival, where his performance on a smaller stage was so well received that the festival's organizers moved him to the main stage. A few months later, his 1995 debut album Tempest landed at No. 14 in the US, kicking off extensive touring and setting the stage for 1996's gold-selling Gravity. With 11 Juno nominations to his name, Cook remains at the vanguard of nuevo flamenco, hitting the road once again in 2014 for a highly anticipated tour.

We went to see Jesse with not much expectations, we didn't know him much; well what an experience, Outstanding personality, excellent musicians, his selection of music was great, we really left impress and Jesse Cook won more fans this night. Very impress.

Been many years (like 20) since Iâve seen JC live, and despite shorter, less curls, and silvering hair (like me and many born mid-60âs), itâs encouraging to see some things do get better with age. Amazing collection of supporting musicians, each mastering their own unique styles with instruments of choice. Great evening.
My sister and her husband were supposed to go to the concert, but got sick. They had seen Jesse Cook a few times before and offered me the tickets. I had never heard Jesseâs music before. I knew he was a flamenco guitarist, but that was it. The entire band was fantastic! Each musician added something unique to the performance! I will definitely go see him again!
Jesse's skill and love of his art is evident - his crew team of musicians have authentic musical connections which results in a brilliant show.
Jesse Cook continues to evolve as a superb musician. This show was reflective, dynamic, fun and creative. This is my eighth time seeing him in concert and heâs getting better every time. The Magnolia theater is the perfect venue to showcase his talents.
The first time I saw Jesse on a small stage at a winery was 2001. Since then, Iâve continued to enjoy his music, always evolving. The concert in this venue was very enjoyable, good acoustics, a fantastic evening wink Jesse, talented young Matt and the rest of the cast. We had a wonderful time
The concert was great. The theatre beautiful and comfortable. The sound mix was not optimum. I was seated to the left and the bass was so intense during some of the songs I had to cover my ears. Especially when the bass player uses the electronic keyboard.
I have long been a fan of Jessie Cook. It was a wonderful concert! Met all expectations! The Magnolia is a great venue. I look forward to going there again.
I took my 5 year old grandson to this concert. The only issue was parking, due to the October events occurring in the area. Other than that, talk about a beautiful concert! My grandson was in awe of the captivating music and throughly enjoyed himself! Jesse Cook inspired him to learn flamenco guitarâŚ
This was our third time seeing Jesse....he is fantastic. This concert was amazing.... Jesse and his band were amazing....such amazingly talented musicians. This was also our first time at the Magnolia & the theatre is lovely. We had a wonderful evening. Wish we could do it again soon!!!!
Loved the concert. The Magnolia was a perfect venue for a more intimate concert experience. Jesse Cook brought a multinational group of musicians together in a memorable performance.
My wife, brother-in-law, and I so enjoyed Jesse's performance! Jesse did not disappoint, seeing him live on stage was a real treat. His interaction with the audience was engaging, warm, and sprinkled with humor- he really connected with his fans. His supporting band was a group of very talented musicians from all over the World. Near the end of the show, he had the whole audience on their feet rocking to his tunes, and he returned to the stage for two encore songs after loud and enthusiastic demands by the audience. My wife and I rarely attend concerts because of over-inflated prices, so we also really appreciated the reasonable ticket prices for a performance by a high-caliber musician like Jesse Cook. The town of Napa, CA, was lovely, enjoyed a great meal within a 4-minute walk to the theater. A perfect evening.
Great show! Jesse has evolved his performance with very talented band associates and especially love the story about his guitar player from Thunder Bay Ontario! I took my daughter to his show in 2010 in Pacific Grove near San Diego and it was an outdoor show and also excellent got up dancing in the aisle with the crowd and I believe that was his third album which I purchased for my daughter as she was attending UCSD and her MBA Flex program. Uptown theater was an excellent theater on a small scale with Wright placed in the third row from the stage and took my friend who was amazed at the talent presented on stage with all the band members.! Didnât purchase his fifth album but will definitely get it now.
Totally awesome concert!!! Loved it!!! I introduced a close friend to his music and she loved it as well. I purchased a CD for both of us.

Jessie is an amazing guitarist and has a fantastic backup group. They had the audience on their feet for the last half of the show.
