About

JERRY LEE LEWIS IN CONCERT:

Legendary rock and roller-turned-country crooner Jerry Lee Lewis is living proof that septuagenarians can still rock. The Killer, as Lewis is affectionately known by fans, still possesses the same spitfire energy that propelled hits like "Great Balls of Fire" and "Whole Lotta Shakin' Going On" to No. 1 in the '50s, working the piano like a man half his age at his throwback live shows. Taking the stage with his sister and niece at his 2014 shows, Lewis cranked out marathon sets of his beloved rock hits, thrilling fans both young and old with his timeless, tireless showmanship.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Born in Louisiana, Lewis's parents mortgaged the family farm to buy him his first piano. After being kicked out of bible school for surprising a church assembly with a boogie woogie version of "My God Is Real," Lewis begin playing in clubs around Mississippi and Tennessee, hoping to land a record deal in Nashville. His break came when Sun Records realized his talent, recording his early songs and eventually releasing his breakthrough hits "Great Balls of Fire" and "Whole Lotta Shakin' Going On" in 1957. After family troubles steered him away from music in the late '50s, he returned to the game in the late '60s with a countrified sound, climbing the charts once again with hits like the 1968 No. 1 "To Make Love Sweeter For You." With a career that spans more than half a century, Lewis is nothing if not a seasoned performer, continuing to entertain audiences with his piano theatrics well into his seventies.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Jerry Lee Lewis put on an absolutely inspired performance of full throttle rock and roll mixed with the usual blend of country ballads and Mississippi Blues. Fantastic performance..."

"Jerry Lee has always been the master showman and even though he didn't stand up on the piano or set it on fire, does not mean that he put any less energy into his show."

"Jerry lee didn't miss a beat on the piano! So glad I got to see him."

    Now that's rock 'n' roll!

by EarlyRock on 9/3/18Thunder Valley Casino Resort - Lincoln

Great show! Everyone should see Jerry while it's still possible. This is my second time. Saw him 30 years ago. Last of the real rock 'n' rollers. Beats the heck out of today's garbage. First time to see Crystal Gayle. She also put on a wonderful show.

    Jerry Lee's still got it.

by Jimmy030459 on 9/3/18Thunder Valley Casino Resort - Lincoln

Jerry is getting on in years and doesn't sound exactly like he did back in the day but he can still sing, and can really play the piano. He did many of his big hits plus a couple of surprises. My wife and I had a great time and would see his show again.

    Jerry should retire!!!!!!!

by ragu98 on 9/3/18Thunder Valley Casino Resort - Lincoln

Well the show was way to expensive for the performers As we have loved these performers over the many years, there does come a time when it is time to hang up the vocal chords. We will always have great memories but will probably not go again

It was not much of a show. Too little for too much money. He is way past his time to be preforming. The warm up show was much better.

Time spent on stage by headliner was too short {35 Mins.} Was told by usher there was no warmup act. Only Jerry Lee for about an hour or so. Wrong on both accounts.

    Jerry Lee Lewis was memorable

by garbologist on 7/25/18Treasure Island Resort & Casino - WELCH

grew up on the Killers music....knew it wasn'y going to be a reply of 1963...but felt honored to be able to show our respect and thanks to him for being an integral factor in our musical growing-up years and able to continue to enjoy his easily-recognizable music....an evening that put us 'back in time'......old time rock 'n roll. At 84 years of age...KUDOS TO Jerry for continuing to share his music and distinctive style. In addition of a FABULOUS opening band (you can certainly tell they are being mentored by Mr. Lewis's style) I could sit and listen to them play for entire evening !!!!! Good show!

He can still play piano like no body's business! He was so entertaining to watch and it was like going back in time to see him. He is a classic who hasn't lost his touch as an artist. DO NOT MISS THIS SHOW IF YOU HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO GO!

Jerry Lee still has some lead in his pencil.

by Rastice on 7/24/18Treasure Island Resort & Casino - WELCH

Only thirty five minutes of headline action was a tad disappointing. But considering he has been doing this for over 60 years!, It is justifiable. Sad to see the place only 70% full. There was more blue hairs than a Smurf family reunion! Jerry was way too raspy on a couple of songs but strong on the famous two. Then again he is 82 years old! I will be lucky to still have my marbles if I reach that age. His warm up guy was absolutely fantastic. This guy has incredible talent. It was eerily like watching a Jerry Lee from 1957. He even looked like him. I also glad I got to see JLL perform live. A true icon. Had I seen him 40 years ago I may not have appreciated it as much. Lower the prices until you build a real auditorium instead of that POS that resembles a high school Gymnasium. Very friendly, hard working, polite accommodating staff. That was appreciated. Especially watching them assist some of the elders.

What an amazing artist then and now Jerry Lee

by Dlvjj on 7/24/18Treasure Island Resort & Casino - WELCH

Great show, somewhat surprised that the other performer was going to play longer than Jerry Lee did, but understandable at this stage in life. The event fulfilled my bucket list I have seen and heard the “Killer”. Thank you for sharing your great talent.

Jerry Lee still kicking butt at 84!

by highwatereverywhere on 7/24/18Treasure Island Resort & Casino - WELCH

there was a lot of pre-show anticipation regarding what kind of shape jerry lee would be in. after all, he’s not exactly a guy who’s known for taking good care of himself. would he still be able to play the piano and rock like he once did in his mid-eighties? well, the answer is that he’s close enough! just being in the same room as the most electrifying original rock and roller alive and hearing him play with a stellar band was worth the money. jerry lee is the real deal, a man as capable of delivering a country classic like “you win again” with utter conviction as he is the hits (“whole lotta shakin’ goin’ on”, “great balls of fire.” he is a true legend, and that he made it for a solid 50 minutes was more than good enough for me! he may be past his prime, but there is only one jerry lee lewis! they broke the mold, so see him while you can! the opening act was a young, over-zealous jerry lee imitator who could play the hell out of a rock and roll piano but has not yet learned that the spaces between the notes are more important than the notes themselves. his set was mercifully short, and although he got to play with jerry lee’s band and clearly has won the favor of the lewis family, i hope i never have to endure his insufferably exuberant emptiness ever again! the kid had no personality whatsoever. if imitation is indeed the most sincere form of flattery, jerry lee’s head has gotta be positively bursting from the adulation this kid obviously has for him.

    Jerry Lee ,Excellant

by Garballs on 7/24/18Treasure Island Resort & Casino - WELCH

Jerry Lee was great. Nice that my daughter was able to see one of the great rock and rollers of my time. I have almost all of Jerry Lees recordings and listen to them all the time. He can still tickle the ivories and bring me back to the days when he played at danceland in Excelsior Mn in the 60's. Wish he could have played longer, but it's great that he can still get out there and entertain Loved every minute of it

by JR1234567890 on 7/24/18Treasure Island Resort & Casino - WELCH

Jerry should've hung it up in the '80s. This show limped along like the blue hairs that were watching it. Jerry didn't come out until an hour after the show started. American icon, yes. Still got it? No.

by Kenospizza on 7/24/18Treasure Island Resort & Casino - WELCH

Going into the show I knew we weren't there to see JLL as he was. You go just to see the man one last time. I've seen him 4 other times since the 70s. He's not that man anymore. Opening act Jacob Tolliver was fantastic. Former American Idol contestant season 14
