About

Over the course of his five-decade career, Jeff Beck has proven himself one of music's most versatile, skilled and influential guitarists, making important contributions to rock, heavy metal, jazz and even electronic music. Beck found his first work as a musician playing with Screaming Lord Sutch and the Tridents in the early '60s. In 1965, Beck joined the Yardbirds, replacing lead guitarist Eric Clapton. After a two-year stint with the Yardbirds, Beck formed a new band, The Jeff Beck Group, featuring vocalist Rod Stewart. The group's gritty, rough sound helped pave the way for future hard rock/heavy metal bands. By the mid-'70s, Beck had changed directions musically, recording the ground-breaking jazz-fusion albums Blow By Blow and Wired (in collaboration with keyboardist Jan Hammer). Beck reemerged in the '80s with There and Back and Flash, featuring the Grammy Award-winning track "Escape." Beck won another Grammy for Best Rock Instrumental with his 1989 release Jeff Beck's Guitar Shop with Terry Bozzio and Tony Hymas. In the early '90s Beck released Crazy Legs, a tribute to rockabilly singer Gene Vincent and guitarist Cliff Gallup, followed by Who Else! in 1999. The song "Dirty Mind" from the 2001 album You Had It Coming won Beck his third Grammy. On the 2003 release Jeff, Beck continued to break new ground, collaborating with trip-hop artist David Torn, the electronic group Apollo 440 and a 40-piece orchestra.

  • Jeff Beck Is A Peerless Live Guitarist !

by fatvegan on 3/6/10Park West Theatre - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

In the last few years I've seen Jeff Beck at Toyota Park, the Chicago Theatre and the Park West in Chicago. He's a enthralling live guitar virtuoso who seamlessly masters and fuses jazz fusion, hard rock, blues and electronica musical genres. He can coax, caress and strangle a universe of sounds from his fender stratocaster. His fingers and fretboard must be hardwired to his heart and soul. "A Day In The Life", "Where WEre You", "Beck's Bolero", "Angel" and "Brush With The Blues Are Great Live Songs." Jeff Beck belies age and is still in his vintage prime.

The last show I saw was last 4/23/09 Oakland ca. The guy is just amazing! his band sharp as nails... then the 2 shows before in L.A. loved being right up against the stage where he bent and gave me quite a great shred on his guitar, I screemed in delight!! He grinned back ( I've met the man a few times, a huge honor for me, being female, I think he is very sexy, hot and a wonderful guy!) no one can touch this man on guitar, he is pure genius!! Already have tickets for 2 shows in so Cal, a waiting the 3rd at nokia, and 4th His first stop 2010 on this first leg San Fran... near me!

  • Don't miss this one

by Onechaser on 1/24/10Jeff Beck - WacoRating: 5 out of 5

The first time i saw Jeff Beck was in Houston. I sat on the edge of the stage in disbelief! Rod S. was his lead singer. The club was a no drinking teenage club were everyone went to dance. Well, when Beck and the band started the whole room never moved. We had ourselves a real show and what a show it was. Few, few players can come close to Beck's playing much less style. This happened some forty years ago and i remember it like last night. Miss this one ha,, shame on you.................. R.J. Waco Tx.
