    Great show!

by Cat235 on 4/25/18Spreckels Theatre - San Diego

The venue is small but cozy. People extremely quiet and serious, but the show was good. Great music! Just that I was expecting, like in other live events, people to be more actively participating.

Jean Michel Jarre a legend comes to town

by GabrielCat on 4/24/18Spreckels Theatre - San Diego

While I did not so much enjoy the opening act, I did enjoy very much the Jean Michel Jarre concert. After forty five plus minutes of the mostly bland house music opening act, Jarre's music finally gave us what we came for. When the sliding latticed panels opened slowly yet grandly, they revealed a somewhat mysterious musician we have long heard but rarely seen. It was a magnificent moment. The music he played was almost exclusively high intensity and fast paced. His Oxygene Aero pieces, plus probably others, were faster paced than the originals. He did not perform some of the more mellow pieces I know from the album Rendez Vous. But I still appreciated the whole concert. The light show was jaw dropping, lasers creating fields and waves of color bands filled with wisps of something like smoke. The projected light and image displays on stage were stimulating and interesting. Lots of futuristic skeletons and pac-man like creatures. The GoPro Jarre wore while playing the piano allowed us to see his keyboard and other instruments while he was playing, projected onto the screen behind. Jarre is 69 years old, and he looks 30. He is slim and athletic and jumped around the whole time with more energy than most 30 year olds. My only complaint is the Spreckels feels a little outdated and haunted, as it always does. I don't know why they don't allow seating in the boxes close to the stage but it makes the venue feel less full and less lively. However the workers are very nice and the acoustics seem good.

    Wow

by lefabe on 4/24/18Spreckels Theatre - San Diego

Loved this show. Super dynamic electronic music. Crowd was kinda weird but everyone had a good time. Way dancier than I expected. Basically was rave music. He has some weird track with Ed Snowden which I could have lived without hearing.

    Jarre is still very relevant.

    by Hutone11 on 4/24/18Paramount Theatre - Seattle

Listening to Jarre as far back as the late 1970s, I was curious what a concert in 2018 would look like. This blew my mind. Visually stunning, the music, crisp, fresh and transcendent. Jarre's energy and love for performing shone throughout the concert. His old material played well and his new material proved Jarre has not gone away, but instead grown as a musician. See it. Then, go see it again!

    Jean-Michel Jarre was unforgettable!!

by Effeleffe on 4/24/18Spreckels Theatre - San Diego

Doesn‘t matter if the show is done at a small or big venue. Attending the show makes you feel like being part of something huge. Let’s hope JMJ will continue with this 3D show...it fits so great to his music.

    A Masterpiece!

    by Danzig997 on 4/22/18Paramount Theatre - Seattle

A Masterpiece! An evening of history and illumination, full of energy and exciting sounds. French composer Jean-Michel Jarre — is one of the most energetic performers in live electronica today. His stage persona pairs excellently with his dazzling visual effects and most of the music is actually played live, rather than simply cranked out from a MIDI sequence or a pre-recorded track. It’s taken 40 years for Jarre to do his first U.S. tour, but by all accounts, he has been owning this lap like he’s been doing it for an eternity.
