Jay Z 4:44 Tour
Though his musical endeavors as an artist, label exec and producer provide the foundation for Jay-Z's empire, he's also a successful serial entrepreneur. He's made his mark in the fashion world with his Rocawear clothing line, and he's branched into the sports world -- first as a part owner of the Brooklyn Nets of the NBA, then as the owner of the Roc Nation sports and entertainment agency. As he rapped in one song, "I'm not a businessman / I'm a business, man."
Jay-Z's rise came from humble beginnings. He and his three siblings grew up in a housing project in Brooklyn's Bedford Stuyvesant neighborhood, and he was raised by his single mother after his father left when he was 11 years old. His early lyrics refer to a life rife with gun violence and drug dealing, and he's claimed that he turned to hip hop as a way out of poverty.
Carter began to get noticed as a rapper in 1989, when he joined an older performer and mentor named Jaz-O to record a song titled "The Originators," which landed them on an episode of Yo! MTV Raps. Around this time, Carter began to perform as Jay-Z out of respect for Jaz-O and as a nod to his childhood nickname "Jazzy."
After bouncing around in relative obscurity, Jay-Z and two friends, Damon Dash and Kareem Burke, took things into their own hands by creating their own label, Roc-A-Fella Records, in 1996. Jay-Z's first album, "Reasonable Doubt," was released that June, and immediately established him as a star-in-the-making.
From there, it seemed Jay-Z could do no wrong. He's sold more than 50 million albums worldwide, amassed 17 Grammy Awards, and has become known as one of the greatest rappers ever. He married Beyonce Knowles in 2008, and Forbes has ranked the pair Hollywood's top-earning couple.
Jay-Z's concerts regularly sell out, with fans scooping up tickets to see a true living legend who can command an audience with or without a huge stage production. In fact, his early Magna Carter shows were one of his most stripped-down productions, but nonetheless generated consistent raves from fans and critics alike.

He was THE BEST performer of all time in all my concerts I've been to. He's very amazing in his performances and his lyrics. He did an awesome job interacting with the audience and he made you feel as if you really knew him personally. He was worth every penny spent on purchasing the ticket and more! I'm extremely glad and honored to have seen such a great man perform and I admire his dedication to his fans! I would definitely see him again if he ever came back to my city!
I thought that it would have been worth it to drive 7 hours to see Jay Z. I was wrong. I was disappointed that there was two hours of an opening act that I wasn't familiar with and an hour and twenty minutes of Jay Z. I will not be driving that far to see him again.
Jay-Z was as amazing live as always, never a dull moment with hov on stage
simply thee greatest... one of NYC legends
Basically, Awesome. J. Cole and NERD were good, but Jay was amazing.
If you ever get the chance to see Hova,. TAKE IT! This is the best hip-hop show next to Common I've seen. He is so worth the money. I stood on my fee the entire time. He really is a great performer.
He is the best rapper ever!! Hands down!! I love him sooooo much!!
although it wasnt as great as the concert in the garden it was so worth the money and the time it took to get there. i thoroughly enjoyed every bit ofthe show encluding his band, NERD, and Wale. GO SEE THE SHOW !!!
Jay-Z was absolutely amazing. I am still in shock.
Everything from his opening acts to the closing song, went really great. I thought his song choice was a good mix of new and old, and he really kept the crowd goin. He never missed a beat, the background effects were appropriate, and his musicians were also really great. It was probably the best performed concert I've been to.
From the FayettNam vet, J. Cole, to the way N.E.R.D. introduced a new genre of music to alot peoples small minds and closed ears, and then the main events crowd control, the show was flawless. 80% of the crowd never sat down, the other 20 had to from being too tired to keep up...
Jay-Z's second stop on his current tour found him playing in a smaller venue than past performances. But don't let the downsized venue fool you...Jay tore the place up Saturday night. From the moment that Jigga rose center stage and the opening notes of Run This Town rang out, until the final moments of Forever Young faded away, Jay brought energy and swagger to the stage. An unbelievable concert experience!!!
Jay-Z put on an amazing performance with incredible lighting/visual effects, and he was on point the entire concert, his encore was so much fun, his speech before his closing song was inspirational. Overall an amazing production, I will definitely be seeing Jay-Z multiple times in the future.
Concert was unbelievable!!! This was my first concert and what a concert it was! I can't wait for my next one! He performed song from throughout his career, all the way back to Hard Knock Life and Jigga What, Jigga Who. Absolutely amazing!
I can't explain it u just gotta see this guy.
Jay Z was fantastic last night and was in total sync with the audience. I moved from Brooklyn three years ago to Lexington, KY so I was so happy that he would be performing in my neck of the woods. He started with some new tracks and infused his prior hits. I mean he totally gave the audience what they wanted. I love the way he infuse live music with his performance. Jay Z is great at this game. Rappers please take Note!
This concert was amazing. Jay-z is not just an amazing performer, he is funny and humble. The music was unbelievable and the set was awesome. It's definitely a concert to remember.
This concert was absolutely amazing!! Such a humble but awesome performer and had the crowd goin from start to finish AND he played all the songs you would want to hear!!!
Absolutely loved it! I had a lot of fun and recommend any Hov fan to attend.
