Leno Good - Coushatta Bad
by Crawfishboil on 2/20/10Coushatta Casino Resort - KinderJay Leno lived up to his appeal to varied (in age) folks -although most in this audience were over 60. He did a very good and varied show which kept the audience laughing (when he could be heard - more on that later). The show was an hour and a half of his brand of humor. The audience, I would say, was well pleased with what they got. The bad part was the venue and the one hand-held microphone that seemed to be working. Jay waved it around when he spoke and gestured -with the problems of the sound system -made it difficult and sometimes impossible to hear all that he had to say. To his credit, he heard the shouts from "us at the end of the world" and asked for the technicians to fix the problem. They responded by raising the volume. That worked for those nearer to him; but I would say half the audience still could not hear well. The Coushatta "auditorium -gymnasioum" was a mess. The stage was at the far end of a giant rectangle - and only half of the many speakers seemed to be working. (We were in section 211 and it seemed that none of the speakers beyond halfway - about section 208 - were working at all.) Many people in these end sections left early in disgust. And the stage and seating arrangements for this venue were atrocious for all but those closest to stage. The forum was a large rectangle with the stage at the left end. Seats on the floor the width of the stage went far back, and the upper seats lined the rectangle sides far into the edges of space. I would say most that were not within 50 yards of the stage - in any direction - were far from pleased with the line-of-sight and the "professional" sound system. I, for one, do not intend to go back.
