    Jay Black's 76th Birthday Party

by gurr on 11/4/14Bergen Performing Arts Center - Englewood

My husband and I were so happy that we got to see Jay Black perform. We had a great time. He sang all the songs that we know and love. He was amazing for someone who just turned 76. He still has the voice and was able to hit the notes. God bless him. We enjoyed the show very much.

    Jay At His Best !!!

by Anonymous on 11/4/14Bergen Performing Arts Center - Englewood

God Bless Mr. Jay Black. At 76 years of age, he can still perform very well. I look forward to see him perform whenever he comes to the NYC Metro Area. I have a great deal of respect for him.

    jay black

by gailbon on 11/4/14Bergen Performing Arts Center - Englewood

He has lost a lot of weight which showed in his very baggy clothes. He stated a health condition and was not the performer we have seen in the last couple of years. I think it is irresponsible to continue to perform and take people's hard earned money when you need to hang it up and go out with some dignity.

    Jay Black Redux

by Nunnelee on 11/4/14Bergen Performing Arts Center - Englewood

Our group of six saw Jay when he was 70 and then again when he was 74 and we did not want to miss his 76th birthday show. He is slowing a bit, but his voice is still strong & vibrant and his slightly off color remarks keep the smiles coming from an appreciative audience; truly Only In America !!!!!

    Disappionting

by jdrocker on 11/4/14Bergen Performing Arts Center - Englewood

We have seen Jay Black perform many times, but this by far, was his weakest performance. While he tried to sing all his songs, he struggled hitting many of the notes. He told the audience multiple times that he was having problems with his wind pipe, and might not be good tonight. If this issue doesn't improve for him, he might want to consider retiring now that he is 76. I hope he recovers well enough for us to see him again.

    A nice night out

by Hideout on 11/4/14Bergen Performing Arts Center - Englewood

My wife and I have been going to see Jay Black for the last several years. His voice, all his hits, and his overall New York style provide a great night out looking back to earlier times when these songs were popular. Jay,s 76 years old and some of the notes seem hard for him to hit. But his voice overall was still entertaining and enjoyable. We saw him a few years ago and I would have gave him a 10 then now about an 8 he lost a little but not much. And it still wouldn't stop me from seeing him again. Keep going Jay as long as you want to and we will still support you. You have a God giviin voice and you take us all back to better days. Thanks Jay we love ya.

    how embarrasing!

by sixtiesgrl on 11/4/14Bergen Performing Arts Center - Englewood

Why would Jay open himself to such embarrassment? I didn't expect him to hit all the high notes, but he could have tried to stay in tune.......especially for his opening song! That was scarey! He did get a little better as the show when on BUT..... There was also NO excuse for his sloppy appearance. He kept pulling up his big, baggy stained pants, his belt was hanging out of the loops and his jacket was big even for him. What was that all about? Jay- you were great back in the day- be happy, live your life and sing for your friends and family, not audiences that pay for it.

Our only complaint was it was not long enough... we could have listened to jay another hour!! Singing or telling stories, we love Jay Black

    What a wonderful singer

by repsaj on 11/4/14BergenPAC - Englewood

I went to this show because Cara Mia is one of my favorite songs, and this venue is in walking distance from my house. What a great decision that turned out to be. It turns out I knew nearly all the songs he sang, and his voice is still amazing. And when he sang Cara Mia, he hit all the high notes perfectly. He said, "If I mess it up, it's because I have tracheitis, not because of old age." Well, he didn't mess up at all, and it was one of the most beautiful concert moments I've ever experienced. Thank you, Jay Black, for an amazing concert.

Jay Black came onstage late and sang for less than one hour. As soon as he came onstage, he told us his doctor told him he should not sing because he had a broken windpipe or esophagus. So he sang holding his throat for less than an hour. It was hard to watch. He should have cancelled. I feel like the $78 per ticket for my husband and I was wasted. We should've gotten a refund.

    Jay Black still has it!

by YoungerJayBlackFan on 11/4/14Bergen Performing Arts Center - Englewood

This was the 4th time that we've seen Jay Black perform and he never disappoints! He said that his doctor told him that he had a throat problem and shouldn't perform but he did anyway and came through! We brought our 9 year old daughter to the show because we wanted her to see what a great singer is like and she really enjoyed the show! There's a reason why he's called "The Voice"!

    Fabulous sound

by 1952ad on 11/4/14Bergen Performing Arts Center - Englewood

I forgot how many songs I loved by this group! They sounded awesome. I couldn't believe how Jay was able to still get up there while singing! I would definitely see this again!

I was not told Jay Black had laryngitis and would barely be singing songs. I took my mother-in-law who is 90 years old to see Jay Black and we had a comedian 1st and some fill in singers for Jay Black. Very disappointed. I spent a lot of money extra for 1st row balcony seats and it was disappointing.

    Not what expected

by Knuckater on 7/29/14Tilles Center Concert Hall - Greenvale

I saw Jay about 5 years ago and he was fabulous.i understand he has been sick recently,he kept saying so.it was very obvious in his performance. The tickets were very expensive for a collage show,I paid $100 per ticket. He could not preform well enough like he used to.I am still glad I went because I always loved him and feel so bad he is ill,but honestly if this is the way he has to preform,he should retire and at 75 that is no disgrace to retire.if it was me and I could not preform close enough to the way I was I would stop, and definitely not charge people $100.I know he was in a financial bind recently due to a bankruptcy ,but charging that kind of money and only preforming about half as hood as you used to is unfair to people.I wish him well and hope his situation improves,as he looks very bad.I always thought he had one of the best voices on the planet. He certainly did try hard though, but he needed all on his band to carry him through. This was. Man that vocally carried everyone.

    Off Night

by MyName99 on 7/29/14Tilles Center Concert Hall - Greenvale

Unfortunately, Jay was not feeling well and was advised to cancel. Since this was a charity event he went on anyway. Understandably he was not at the top of his game, but still provided a good show.

Bill Medley&Jay Black Rocked The House

by Branyan on 10/24/13Westbury[N.Y.Community Bank Theatre] - Westbury New York

On Sat.night Oct.5th Bill Medley and Jay Black put on an unforgettable show at Westbury. Bill opened the show and did most of his Righteous Brothers hits and several solo numbers to rousing response from the audience.Including his#1 hit "I've Had The Time Of My Life",which his 26 year old daughter McKenna joined him on.Medley did a rare version of his 1st solo hit from 1968"Brown Eyed Woman" and seemed moved by the 1st of 3 standing O's he got during his set.The others being his version and tribute to his late partner Bob Hatfield's"Unchained Melody"and of coarse"You've Lost That Loving Feeling".McKenna stayed on stage providing back up vocals and sang 2 songs from her new CD,as Bill briefly left the stage. She has won best female singer at Branson 4 times including the last 2 years. Bill my favorite singer sounded better than the last couple of times i've seen him. Jay Black came out after Medley's 1 hour set and rocked the house. His voice is better now than it was when he started his career, which is saying a lot.Hits all the notes and than some.He is very funny and somewhat blue in his humor and very self depracating about his appearance.Cara Mia is a masterpiece and his signature song. His Orbison tribute is outstanding[Only The Lonley]and Jay ends his set with "Some Enchanted Evening"and encores with"This Magic Moment"his and The Americans biggest selling single. These 2 70 plus[Medley,73&Jay soon to be 75]still love what they are doing. The audience was really into both of these guys and a great night of music it was.
