    less than stellar

by francescaamiles on 2/21/12St. George Theatre - Staten Island

This was just disappointing! Jay Black, unfortunately, was having issues with his voice cracking. He attributed this to being held in a cold room "during the longest intermission ever". I'm not so sure-

Gary Puckett was pretty good but Jay Black was amazing. His voice is incredible. His patter was funny and the show was great.

    Jay Black @ Westbury

    by Rico152 on 11/9/11Westbury - Westbury

The show was very good as usual, Jay pulls no punches he tell you up front he will do the best he can and as usual he does deliver. Gary Puckett on the other hand was rough to listen to, he claimed he had a cold. These guys CANNOT do back to back shows, their voice cannot handle it anymore.

    SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE WITH MUSIC

by SGT66 on 10/17/11NYCB Theatre at Westbury - Westbury

MUSIC WAS GREAT!, THE ORCHESTRA FOR JAY BLACK WAS GOOD, IT COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER IF IT HAD VIOLINS. GARY PUCKETT WAS VERY GOOD, THE SONGS BROUGHT BACK MEMORIES. DURING HIS PERFORMANCE, HE RECOGNIZED THE MILITARY VETERANS, WHICH WAS A GREAT GESTURE!

    IMPRESSIVE!

by LigerOmni on 2/1/11Keswick Theatre - Glenside

Great show! I enjoyed Gar Puckett's opener very much, brought back memories. Jay Black and friends, were unbelievable! Jay is like a good wine, his voice has not suffered the ravages of time. No wonder he is called the VOICE! Please, if he sings there again, notify me. I WILL ATTEND!

    Jay Black

by Hideout on 1/25/11Keswick Theatre - Glenside

Gary Puckett was good pretty much low key going from song to song. His voice is still excellant. My wife and I enjoyed him. But the real attraction was Jay Black. Through his humor and lively personality he takes you from hit after hit. He has a real comfortable stage presence which carries over to the audience. At 72yrs. old the voice is still there. It may not be a 10, can not quite hit those really high notes, but I still give him a 9.5. If you like the music from this era you will not be disappointed. Will go to see him again. We really enjoyed ourselves.

    YA GOTTA LOVE JAY BLACK!

by diamondsmiles on 1/24/11Keswick Theatre - Glenside

I've seen Jay about six times in the past few years, driving two hours once, just to finally hear, "Cara, Mia", in person. I was NOT disappointed, but, impressed that at 69 then, and 72 now, Jay still hits those high notes and has a great, funny personality. I could listen to him sing and/or tell his stories all night! Not to take away from Gary Puckett. This, as fas as I can recall, was my first time seeing him and he still sounds great and has a great onstage personality as well. He was gracious enough to meet with his fans after the show, which was very much appreciated.

    Jay Black

This man is a phenomenal performer. The event should have been sold out----bad night to have it---same night as the boat parade. :(

    Well done!

by LauderdaleOldie on 12/13/10Parker Playhouse - Ft Lauderdale

Jay Black still has the voice, which is why we were there in the first place. Excellent performance which covered a whole range of JATA songs and others. Jay's version of "Hushabye" still is the best. Also, he's a very funny guy. Only complaint: ticket price a bit high for the times. A $40 ticket would have sold out even with the boat show. Would love to see Jay reunited with Kenny Vance next year at Parker.

We were four, young, senior citizens who grew up in the sixties. Jay was as good today as he was then. Different, but a real showman.

but he is aging. He lacked the pizzaz and energy he used to have! Still worth seeing, though but who know for how long??
