About

Jason Mraz left his Virginia hometown right after high school and struck out for New York City to find his fame and fortune. Honing his skills by busking on the streets in the Big Apple, Jason decided that perhaps this line of work could be performed in a nicer climate. Next stop: San Diego, and soon Jason moved from the outdoor beachside stages to inside a local hot spot called Java Joe's.  It was there he met percussionist/vocalist Toca Rivera and the two made a name for themselves all along the California coast. He released his own CD, Jason Mraz: Live and Acoustic 2001, which got the attention of all the major record labels.
His first release on Elektra, Waiting For My Rocket To Come, was released in November 2002. The album sold platinum and included the hit single "The Remedy (I Won't Wait)".  That success led to Jason's second release, this time on sister label Atlantic, the Grammy-nominated Mr. A-Z, which debuted at #5 on the charts, and featured the hit single "Wordplay".
For his all-important third album, Jason traveled to England to work with producer Martin Terefe, best known for his work with Coldplay and James Morrison (who guests on the intricate Details in the Fabric). The result is We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things. which garnered three Grammy nominations - Song of the Year and Best Male Pop Vocal Performance, both for "I'm Yours", and Best Engineered Album.  "I'm Yours", the first single from the album, holds the distinction of being the only song to ever top the radio airplay charts in the U.S. in all four major formats - Top 40, Adult Alternative, Adult Contemporary and Hot Adult Contemporary. The second single from the album is "Lucky", a duet with platinum singer-songwriter Colbie Caillat.
In his spare time, Jason is an avid photographer in the unlikely realm of Polaroids. A book of 50 of his unretouched and non-photoshopped photos entitled "a thousand things" was released in October 2008 and has spread the word about this multi-talented artist to the world of galleries and bookstores. Jason is the consummate musical and visual artist of the new century.

    What a show!

    by Annie on 8/16/23

Jason Mraz is amazing! His music was fun and made everyone want to get up and dance. His message is positive and very upbeat! Jason’s band is more like an orchestra and is super talented. The concert was worth every penny.

    Worth every penny...again!

This is the 2nd time I've seen Jason Mraz live. He is an amazing musician and performer. I appreciate how candid he is with the audience and hlthe fun environment he creates. I've been a fan since the beginning and his shows keep getting better. This new pop album makes for a very fun show. This was also the first time I've seen a concert at the St. Augustine Amphitheater and I'd do it again. Parking can be a little bit of a challenge, but not enough to deter me. I sat in section 203 towards the top...great seats.

Great concert in an amazing venue

    by Claudia on 8/16/23

Jason Mraz and band were amazing, great music selection and stage presence! My only complaint was the encore, which basically left everyone guessing what's going on. Jason Mraz sang two songs (none that I recognized) and then provided his bandmates with the opportunity to showcase their talents individually, what seemed like 1 hr. of instrumental torture. I applaud his efforts to promote his bandmates, however whenever the audience shouts for a singer to come back to the stage, they want to hear the singer, not the bandmates. I wish I had left right after the show ended, and honestly it felt like the whole audience was also regretting having asked for an encore.

Jason Mraz and his super band were phenomenal. Amazing energy, great sound, an energizing experience. This was one of the best shows I've seen!! The Saint Augustine amphitheater was beautiful, the volunteers were so friendly and I love how they reuse and recycle their cups from the bar. Something magical was definitely surrounding the space. Overall an amazing experience. Thank you!!

    A hit

    by TerrysMusic on 8/15/23

The venue is excellent. I liked that it is an open amphitheater. I sat on the lawn behind those who had chairs in the "priority"section. despite standing for the entire duration of the show, I still enjoyed it. Jason Mraz repertoire was dynamite. He played some of his standout songs, and some new or excellent songs that I hadn't heard before. The first song of his return to the stage after a standing ovation featured solos from each band member and it was great! Although I didn't take advantage of the food and drink available, lots of folks did enjoy a beer or two.

Jason Mraz NEVER disappoints!! Amazing concert!! The weather was brutal & they should allow people to bring lawn chairs, but also worth it to see him.
