    The Janelle Monae

by hottrod01 on 10/18/11Indiana University Auditorium - Bloomington

What an AMAZING artist! She set that place on fire! I drove 3 hours to see her and would drive 10 more. Haven't seen this much talent in one artist in a LONG LONG time! Thank You Janelle!

Janelle Monae is amazing and complex

by Shanninigans on 10/17/11U of I Main Lounge - Iowa City

I've seen a lot of great live shows, but this is now within the top 5 of my list! Monae has such a commanding presence, it's hard to do anything but love her. She starts out kind of cold in attitude and a little secretive (and amazing) in the performance. She ends up soft and loving with her soft, sultry voice, and passionate words. The transition is interesting and fun to watch. Monae and her team are having such a great time on the stage, there is no way they won't win you over.

My friends and I went to primarily to see Fun. which is the best band EVER! A man from Janelle's band opened up and he was amazing! Fun. was awesome as always and I definitely recommend them! We left before Janelle Monae because we saw her before Katy Perry and she wasn't that good.

Janelle Monae: The best fantasy one could ask for!

by Taieesha on 10/17/11Indiana University Auditorium - Bloomington

Janelle Monae possesses all the key qualities of what a true performer, and artist, should have: she is fantastic live--really getting the crowd excited and very high energy throughout the entire show--and she is a fantastic musician--the acoustic portion blew my mind. She really responds well to the audience and utilized her space on the stage, AND in the audience. Also, she made sitting through two opening acts, which were both good and bad, and waiting two hours for her to come on stage entirely worth it, without a doubt!!!

Shame on Iowa City for not coming out. Very high energy but very small crowd cheered on this PHENOMENAL artist.

    Janelle Monáe was outstanding!

by Anonymous on 10/14/11U of I Main Lounge - Iowa City

Janelle Monáe was amazing, of course. AMAZING. I would recommend anyone go see her, even if it's somewhere as bad as the U of I main lounge. I don't know who thought it would be a good idea to have "fun." be the opening act.

This woman is epic! I had fallen in love with her music a couple of years ago. I wasn't really sure what to expect, but what I got was not a concert; it was an experience! Her openers, Timothy Blume and Fun. were amazing and progressively got the crowd pumped up. When Janelle took the stage... it was spectacular! She gave us a show, not a list of her songs one after the other. You couldn't help but be mesmerized by her singing and dancing. She had the crowd so pumped up that when she went off the stage to get ready for her acoustic set, there was nothing but screaming and cheering for 5 minutes! When she came back on stage she looked at us like were crazy. She made sure that we knew how much our support meant to her by just talking to us and being sincere.
