JANE’S ADDICTION IN CONCERT:

Alternative rock pioneers Jane’s Addiction have awed fans with superior musicianship and over-the-top showmanship for more than three decades, and they’re still going strong. The band's potent blend of alt-rock, metal, and punk is pure sonic boom and their live shows are equally explosive, flooring fans with full-throttle funk metal shredding and far-out visual spectacles. Flamboyant frontman and Lollapalooza founder Perry Ferrell commands the stage with cocksure rock star swagger, pumping up the crowd with wild-eyed intensity until they reach a blissed-out state of rock nirvana. Superstar guitarist Dave Navarro is equally magnetic, shaking fans to the core with his high-octane riffage on scorching favorites like “Stop”, “Been Caught Stealing”, and “Mountain Song”. Jane's Addiction are alt-rock legends for a reason, and their fun and freaky live performances are a can't-miss experience for any alt-rock fan worth their salt.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Singer Perry Ferrell formed Jane’s Addiction with original bassist Eric Avery in 1985, eventually teaming up with guitarist Dave Navarro and drummer Stephen Perkins. The group exploded on LA’s underground rock scene, attracting the attention of Warner Bros. Records, who commissioned the group’s 1987 self-titled debut. The following year they released their sophomore album Nothing’s Shocking, which they supported as an opening act on tour with Iggy Pop and The Ramones. With the 1990 release of Ritual de lo Habitual the band became a household name, as singles “Stop” and “Been Caught Stealing” raced up the alternative charts. Despite their breakthrough success, the group imploded in the early '90s over heavy drug use, as half the band tried to get clean while the other half partied on. After the break up Ferrell found success in the mid-'90s with his new band Porno for Pyros while Navarro became one of the most in-demand guitarists of the decade, playing with everyone from Red Hot Chili Peppers and Nine Inch Nails to Janet Jackson and Alanis Morissette. Things remained icy between the two until they buried the hatchet in the early '00s, thrilling fans with a string of Jane's Addiction shows and the 2003 album Strays. The band has been back full-time since 2008, continuing to rock legions of fans with their pioneering funk metal sound and live-wire performances.

    Jane's Addiction show Freedom Hill

by Rockfan1011 on 7/25/16Freedom Hill Amphitheatre - Sterling Heights

Both Living Colour and Dinosaur Jr. were great. Still rocking hard. Too bad more people didn't arrive yet for these shows. Well worth it. Jane's Addition was great. Played entire Ritual de Lo Habitual album, then continued with all the other favorites. Excellent Rock Show with a bit of Burlesque/ carnival type freak show thrown in for good measure.

    Great Time

by JimTanner on 7/25/16Freedom Hill Amphitheatre - Sterling Heights

A bad cable could not bring down the show, the audio at the start was weak, but they pushed through it like pros. It was great to hear the album live again. Took me back my first concert, the first Lollapalooza. I had a great time on the hill.

This show was amazing!!! The band sounded great. PF sounded great. Songs, crowd, vibe, all bringing it back to such good times then and now. So happy to have been a part of this music on this night. The crowd was as into it as I was and I was DEF into it. Just absolutely great music.

    Excellent Show

by nihil1318 on 7/23/16The Fillmore Philadelphia - Philadelphia

Much better than the show on Saturday in Asbury Park. Sound was awesome. Living Colour put on a great performance. Dinosaur was on and you could hear J's vocals really well. For Jane's, Perry's voice sounded much more warmed up and he was more chatty. They played great. They skipped Rebel Rebel during the encore unfortunately, but that's probably because they took forever to come on stage. Not the best Jane's show I've seen, but very good.

the dancing girls were smoking hot. on fire

by dan696969 on 7/23/16The Fillmore Philadelphia - Philadelphia

It was one unforgettable night. Something for everyone!!!! Any time you go to the Fillmore eat before you go. 15 dollars for a Mc Donald size cheeseburger with a few fries is ridiculous.

Jane's Addiction with Perry Farrell and Dave Navarro were excellent and put on a great show. The opening bands Living Color - was good, but set was short - and Dinosaur Jr. (performance was fair) were adequate, but would have preferred an up and coming or local band.

Sometimes a 4th row ticket just isn't enough

by SkullnRoses on 7/22/16Blue Hills Bank Pavilion - Boston

Turns out that the headliners had the worst mix of the night. Neither Perry Farrell's voice nor Dave Navaro's guitar cut thru to stand out, so the Jane's' Addiction set was just muddy. Not so for openers Living Color and especially Dinosaur Jr who sounded like it was 2000 all over again. Only two new songs for Dino but they sounded like they belonged

    Jane's Addicfion

by HARRINGT0N on 7/22/16Blue Hills Bank Pavilion - Boston

The band sounded great and the dancers were awesome. I thought Perry was a bit muted but they did an awesome job. Seeing Ritual De Lo Habitual performed in its entirety was amazing. I had two gripes with the show. First, the band was never lit up. There was a spotlight on Perry and the dancers at all times, but not a single time was the rest of the band lit up. Not even during a solo. Second, the sound mix was lame. Nothing stood out, guitars, voices, drums were all just kinda there. That said, it was the first time I've seen Jane's since '91 and it was awesome to be there. My wife had never listened to them before the show and they turned her into a fan. I think that says something.

    Way too short!!

by EvenMartins on 7/20/16Stone Pony Summer Stage - Asbury Park

Good show , while it lasted! Played the entire album, engaged with the audience, theatrics with dancers, good lighting effects. No Jumbotron. 50 minutes later "Good night NJ"!! Then back for a four song encore. With breaks, intros, and bows it was about 1hr 20 min! There was a rain delay and I heard there was a city ordinance foe no music at a certain time but nobody said that so not believing it unless I here they play longer at other venues. There also were some sound mixing issues with the lead guitar and vocals sometimes being too low.

    Who cared about the rain?

by KrRy12345678 on 7/20/16Stone Pony Summer Stage - Asbury Park

Even though the show was postponed by 2 hours due to the crazy thunder storms and it rained pretty much the whole night, it was still and amazing show at an amazing venue! Despite the delay, the Stone Pony staff kept everybody informed of what was going on and kept everything organized. The band was unfazed by the rain and still put on a terrific show!!

    Jane's Addiction was amazing!!

by Csweetpea on 7/19/16Stone Pony Summer Stage - Asbury Park

Saw Jane's Addiction at (legendary)Stone Pony in Asbury Park. First, the venue was great. Small enough to be intimate, large enough to jump around. No lines at bathrooms (very important to the ladies) because they provide tons of porta potties (and surprisingly clean). Never waited in line for a drink because they are well staffed and drinks were reasonable compared to most venues. Enough about that ... JANE's ADDICTION!! Amazing... Perry Farrell puts on a great performance, Navarro was Navarro... Scantily clad women on stage doing their burlesque show... The band sounded great, full of energy, interacted with crowd... Go see them!!!

    Jane's Addiction WOW!!!!!

by whibbet on 7/19/16Stone Pony Summer Stage - Asbury Park

I recently went to the Jane's Addiction concert at the Stone Pony summer stage. It was FANTASTIC!!!! Perry's voice and the rest of the band still rock after all these years. I didn't want it to end. It was raining, but who cares. The crowd was tame and no fights broke out. I would go again in a heartbeat. I can't wait for the next time...

    Complete Magic

by BellaPunk on 7/19/16Stone Pony Summer Stage - Asbury Park

Dinosaur Jr. opened the show and did not disappoint. And then Jane's. Oh my sweet Addiction. Farrell's voice and awkward charisma have not faded in the least. In fact, he has perhaps only gotten better with age and wisdom. Dave Navarro continues to show his musical mastery as he leads the entire band through their still amazing set list. From the full Ritual experience, to the brilliant Nothing Shocking encore, this is a show you do not want to miss.

JA was good, but sound not great. Venue was all one level GA, without seats, so many people couldn't see the stage
