Great set. Vibes were great. Despite having upper balcony seats, the sound quality was great.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Jamie xx, aka Jamie Smith, got his start in the mid ’00s with acclaimed British indie pop outfit The xx, which was formed in 2005 by a group of his classmates at London’s Elliot School. The band's 2009 debut album was a critical and commercial sensation, earning the prestigious Mercury Prize and establishing Jamie as a sought-after producer virtually overnight. After garnering praise with several remixes released to promote the band, Jamie made his solo debut in 2011 with the album We’re New Here, which remixed Gil Scott-Heron’s acclaimed 2010 album I’m New Here. The album peaked at No. 4 on the UK Indie Chart, earning massive critical acclaim and drawing Jamie out for high-profile DJ sets around the world. After several years of extensive touring, Jamie returned to the studio to record 2015’s In Colour, a highly anticipated album that has fans eager to catch his upcoming sets on the road.

by hclim on 8/12/15Royale Boston - BostonThe buildup was incredible, and the crowd loved him, the lights were on point, definitely one of the prettiest sets I've ever seen!
Rating: 1 out of 5 went for a band, watched a dj. Felt pretty cheated
by stnr on 8/12/15Royale Boston - BostonYou'd think somewhere it would mention that Jamie XX was going to be DJing and not playing live. I mean, it's key information. It's not that he's a bad DJ, he's pretty good. But I've seen him DJ before and frankly I don't need to pay another 25 dollars to stand in a room with a few hundred people, with no atmosphere, and all stare at the front of the room watching a guy play records. To cap it all, you had a merch stand. At a DJ gig. This breaks some kind of cardinal rule. Oh, and Mike Simonetti was abominable. He wasn't even a good DJ.
Rating: 1 out of 5 Meh
by JoshuaFletcher on 8/12/15Royale Boston - BostonThe tough part about a DJ set is that there is nothing really happening on stage. The set list although good, was more like background music. You don't need to see this show live to enjoy his music. Plus Boston is a tough town to have a good crowd in, especially when it's electronica. between the stage performance and the crowd, I gotta give this a show a solid 'C-'

by Anahataa on 8/12/15Royale Boston - BostonOne of the best concerts I have ever been to. The light show and way he had his music flow together could not have been more perfect. I would see him as many times as possible! Loved it!!
Rating: 5 out of 5 This was so much funner than fun
by JamieJamz on 8/11/15Terminal 5 - New YorkI had a great time at that show. the employees of terminal 5 broke my phone, and I decided to make the best of it. Jamie xx made that really easy
Rating: 5 out of 5 Unforgettable Performance!!!!
by PeteyPeteeeee on 8/11/15Terminal 5 - New YorkJamie XX took my expectations, put them on a spaceship to Mars, and left them there along with Matt Damon. I have never seen an artist mesmerize a crowd, especially Terminal 5, which is notorious for its impatient and disgusting crowd. His skill and ability to take a crowd to the next level was proven simply by the fact that he didn't have to utter one word. Hands down one of the best live performances I have ever witnessed.
Rating: 5 out of 5 Unbelievable
by lbk987 on 8/11/15Terminal 5 - New YorkOne of the best shows of the year. The crowd was really into it and the dance party was everything I was hoping for. Can't wait to see him again.
Rating: 1 out of 5 Jamie XX was a disco dj show.
by Kups on 8/11/15Terminal 5 - New YorkI have been looking forward to hearing Jamie live for years. If I knew it was a dj set and in a more intimate venue I would have been prepared, but this did nothing to showcase the extreme studio talents of this musician. Just because an electronic producer plays libe doesn't mean it can only be a dj set. Gotta get more inventive. Also terminal 5 is a terrible venue. Not sure why i keep coming back here.
