    James Cotton can really blow

by FrankXD on 3/25/13Howard Theatre - Washington

James Cotton remains an outstanding entertainer, and an absolute professional, and showed energy and creative flair beyond what you expect from a gentleman of his years. He respects the craft, and the music, bringing to the stage a strong supporting cast of artists. Darrell Nulisch vocals provided outstanding counterbalance to the instruments, and the trio was creative and solid. Josh King, the 12 yr old phenom, caused a reality check across the room - he can't be playing and that can't be his voice! Mr. Cotton officiated a very solid old school reminder of what the blues can be.

James Cotton and Band were fantastic!

by CityGurl on 7/21/12Jazz Alley - Seattle

The blues the way they should be! James is soulful and led the audience through a spectrum of favorites. The Jazz Alley venue is the best, as a Chicao native it felt good to hear the beat and grit I miss in the Chicago music scene.

    Cotton and Musselwhite were great!

by Bluesmoon on 6/18/11Minnesota Zoo Amphitheater - Apple Valley

Cotton's band has two outstanding guitarists. The quality was first class and their talent amazing. Musselwhite was very personable with the audience and gave a great show. Loved the intimacy of the amphitheater.

    James Cotten

by MrRocksteady on 6/18/11Minnesota Zoo Amphitheater - Apple Valley

We all have to come to a point in life of excepting the place we find our self in.Its simply the opion of one fan in attendance of concert the individual billed as a professional performer,James Cotton was totally out of sink on July16 Where would I start to dicribe a totally lack luster event ,starting songs over and over chaning harps during the performance one after the other, never hitting anything close to a groove,he seemed to be in the way of the band and singer. For thoses in the audience that could not drink him good ,they had a very sobbering experience,He spent more time slaping flys And checking his watch for time remaing sad situation.Bottom line cotton needs to be moth balled .James can Now Live Vicariously throughA true master performer He go's by the name of CHARLIE MUSSELWHITE Thank very much

Wow! what a show... what a place to see a show

by GeorgeFraley on 6/18/11Minnesota Zoo Amphitheater - Apple Valley

The Amphitheater is so intimate that you feel like a part of things instead of just being a spectator. Charlie Musslewhite opened the show with some of his strongest stuff and encored with Cristo-redemptor (my favorite all time piece). Brief break and then one of the all time greats on the mouth-harp, James Cotton. James' health is failing and I wondered if he would live thru the event and then he started to play. He made sounds that most harp players only wish they could make. Wow, man, what a night. I had music running through my head for days. These old blues guys are a dying breed. We should soak in as much of this piece of this Americana as we can. Several hundred other folks must have agreed with me because the place was packed with fans, dancing, shaking, and having a wonderful time. I think we all would have stayed all night if they would have kept playing. Wow!

We had the time of our life in BBKing last thursday. This is what blues is about. We enjoyed Evert second of it. And than came THE final act grandfather and grandson. This opened up our hearts and gave hope for THE future.

Amazing, unforgettable night of pure blues!

by LeslieMac23 on 5/9/11B.B. King Blues Club and Grill - New York

James Cotton is a true living legend and this show proved that song after song. His stage presence, skill and joy of performing were evident from the moment he hit the stage. I was so lucky to be able to see this 76 year old blues pioneer up close and personal at BB Kings in NYC. Mr Cotton performed a stellar encore with one of his proteges a 10 year old blues virtuoso that brought the house down. Mr. Cotton was also kind enough to allow us backstage to say hello, take a photo and sign an autograph.
