JAMES BAY IN CONCERT:
British folk singer-songwriter James Bay is quickly making a name for himself with his gravelly voice, heartrending lyrics, and no-frills live performances. The fresh-faced young musician leverages minimal elements to maximum effect at his live shows, achieving big emotional impact with little more than his soulful voice and acoustic guitar. Whether he's belting out "When We Were On Fire" or encouraging fans to sing along to "Move Together", Bay's energy and charisma always make for a rousing concert experience ticket buyers won't soon forget.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
James Bay, born in Hitchin, UK, picked up his first guitar at age 11, teaching himself to play with the help of a CD-ROM guitar tutorial. He began writing pop songs in his teens, taking inspiration from artists like Eric Clapton and the Black Crowes while honing his own unique sound. In 2013 he released his acoustic debut EP The Dark of the Morning, an impressive collection of soulful folk recorded live at the Swamp in London. The album displayed his knack for penning sparse yet powerful songs, and artfully-crafted tunes like "Move Together" drew praise from critics and fans alike. Bay followed up in 2014 with the Let It Go EP, which featured a full backing band -- a development that has fans eagerly awaiting the chance to see Bay and Co. on their future tour dates. Previously, James Bay has played venues such as Irving Plaza in New York City and the Theatre of Living Arts in Philadelphia.
Bay was surprisingly more rock-oriented than I thought; Superb crowd engagement; great venue for a younger crowd.
He always gives his hundred percent. The crowd was very energetic. It was a very fun experience
James Bay was the most amazing performer i have ever seen in my life. I didn’t want the show to ever end! The venue was also fantastic
Nice energy and fantastic vocals that were just as polished live as in his recorded stuff! I have liked his music for a while and saw him open for the Lumineers. Sound was not great at first bc a lot of people hadn’t sat down yet so there was reverb, but not his fault and he played all his best songs. He did some good extra electric guitar interludes that were cool too. Didn’t even know he was British lol but pleasantly surprised ;)
Unbelievable talent, great show! James Bay was outstanding at Warehouse Live! In Houston, TX
Long time mega fan of James Bay's music. Constantly listening on Spotify, dancing around to his tunes. Booked to see him live in my city and was incredibly disappointed. Every single beautiful slow, melodic and moving song of his was turned into an electric guitar-humping, rock-sounding mash. He did not have a good vibe--just appeared and flung his hair around, humped his electric guitar and LOUDLY belting into his mike. I've spoken with others who have attended his shows and apparently he doesn't sing any of his songs in the slow, loving manner they're released in. He turns it into a rock show. I wish I could bottle up the James Bay on his released music and have that experience in concert! Very disappointed :/
Fantastic as always. This event was very intimate and mind blowing. James is so talented and friendly. It was a great show at a great price in a great venue. The venue staff was all friendly and kind. The venue itself was beautiful and very well kept. I loved the mini Q&A at the beginning and the positive energy throughout the whole night! Definitely an artist to see in your lifetime.
James Bay gives such a unique show experience by making a connection with the crowd. The Marquee was a tight knit venue that kept the fans engaged the entire time.
This was the third time I have seen James Bay and this show was very different--it was a solo show, for starters and I had only seen him with his band. He was much more chatty than the other times, which was great (he was quite funny and self effacing) and he did more covers than the other times as well(the Alicia Keyes song was amazing). All in all, it was quite relaxed--and since Marquee is smaller (and standing/general admission only) it felt personal.
lovedddd this concert! He was amazing! Would go back to see him.
Started late The sound was very bad, I couldn’t enjoy 100% the songs :( The light show was very disturbing
Awesome!! Opener was Noah Kahan and has a very similar in style. Everything was amazing! Lights, sound, all his great songs. He even played one he is currently writing.
I think james bay is cool but he could have put in a lot more effort. The show was boring.
Clean location that was easy to find and greatly enjoyed. James Bay was great! Sound wasn’t to loud and no one was aggressive in the crowds. I was in general admission on the floor. Would go to this venue again as well as James Bay!
The staff at the venue was amazing and the concert was unforgettable! I’ve been a huge fan of James bay since his first album, chaos in the calm, came out and he has kept surprising with amazing music that never disappoints. He sounds amazing in person and is truly talented.
I loved seeing James Bay perform at the Paramount. He was amazing as usual but the acoustics were great and I had a fun time!
I loved it! It was amazing. I am glad i went. The performance was awsone
Loved loved loved! Wish he would do more guitar solos, but other than that, amazing!!!
Lots of interaction. Beautiful voice and loved his musicality. The opener was fabulous too. Great night.
I took my 15 yr old daughter, & we both absolutely loved every minute of the performance. I’d go again in a heartbeat. The opening show was great as well, but nothing beats James Bay.
