Before becoming a country music sensation, Florida-born Joshua “Jake” Owen dreamed of becoming a professional golfer until a wakeboarding incident led to reconstructive surgery and left Owen unable to keep playing. He borrowed a neighbor’s guitar and began teaching himself to play, eventually playing country covers in bars before writing his own material and moving to Nashville. There he met producer Jimmy Ritchey and eventually executives at Sony BMG, who signed him to RCA Records and put out his debut album Startin’ with Me in 2006, producing the single “Yee Haw.” Owen toured in support of Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood, and excited ticket holders with his baritone voice and lively tunes. He also opened for Kenny Chesney, Sugarland and Keith Urban. His second album Easy Does It in 2009 and spawned three more singles, “Don't Think I Can't Love You,” “Eight Second Ride,” and “Tell Me.” In 2011, Owen’s third album Barefoot Blue Jean Night was released, and both the title track and single “Alone with You” hit No. 1 on the country charts. 2013 saw a US concert stretch with Jason Aldean and his newest single “Days of Gold,” which precedes his fourth studio album of the same name due out in December.
Jake Owen always puts on an absolutely fantastic show!! He is well worth the ticket price. He has excellent stage presence, and is always moving and jumping around. Also, he is actually singing his songs. You can tell when he messes it up and just stands there and smiles. Ladies ~ If you've never seen him, you should!!! The Jake Shake is something you shouldn't be deprived of. Treat yourself. :)
The concert was awesome! This is our second year attending Jake Owen's concert at Joe's Bar- this year was sold out and unforgettable! It was my 10th Jake Owen concert and one of my favorites! My friends came for the first time and went straight home to download all of his songs! The venue is really cool- everyone in the room feels like they are in the first row. Jake gives everyone a little bit of attention with his eye contact, hand shakes, and autographs. The band is super friendly and always willing to take a pic or sign an autograph. Too bad we couldn't get a meet & greet with Jake, but at least you could grab a hand shake on Jake's way out. I hope Jake Owen keeps coming to Joe's Bar- I will come as long as he does!
Not only did Jake sing his own songs, new and old, but he also sang songs from the greats like, Alabama, David Allen Coe, Hank Jr., etc! It was an awesome night. He is a great entertainer!
I was very pleased by the Jake Owen performance. I had never been to Joes Bar or have seen Jake Owen and I was very impressed by both. This was my boyfriends first country concert and he can't wait for the next one he also can't wait to go back to Joes Bar. Both Jake and Joes I highly recommend!!!!
The concert was awesome - trying to get your car from the valet was not so awesome. I suggest try parking your own car - it took us over 45 minutes to get ours!
Fantastic voice and awesome stage presence, he truly enjoys being there and it shows.
Great show. Very entertaining. Loved the show and have been playing his current CD non-stop since the show.
He is so cool to see in person especially at a place like Joes. You can tell he is SO happy to be there and be on stage and was just rocking out. He really gets into the crowd and acknowledges that he is in Chicago and likes it. He was really enjoying himself. His band is awesome too!!! And the guys who opened for him were good (and cute)! Jake couldn't be sexier though!!!!!
I can't even begin to explain how cool this show was. My son turned 21 last month and I took him to his first concert at Joe's. Jake was his first country concert. In his words Jake is a BA. When we came home he was listening to my Jake cd. Jake's stage presence is like no other. Can't wait til Jake comes back to Chicago. The only thing that was bad for me was I didn't get the meet and greet I signed up for thru his fan club.
Joes - great food - nice crowd. easy in/out via 90/94. great hotel selection nearby. looking forward to another trip in the future.
Jake is by far one of the best performers I have ever seen!! He brings so much energy to a small venue like Joe's and puts on an amazing show!! He played alot of unreleased songs that he said he had never played live before...very cool!! I will be there every time he comes back!!!

Jake Owen was amazing. Cloverdale was awesome. The event as a whole was very worthwhile. I was disappointed with the catering. I'm very shocked that I had to buy water. When I asked where I could find water (before i knew I had to buy it at the bar) the kid working there told me there was a drinking fountain downstairs. Not what I expected from a catering company as nice as Jake's.
this is the third time seeing Jake, first at Dukes which was pretty dang good, then the 3 day country festival in Sweethome, and now at the beautiful Govenor Hotel, pretty good, my daughter and her friend loved it.
The entire show was great. The intimate atmosphere, hometown guests, spending time with our favorite DJs was fun. But Jake Owen was insane! He is so sexy, such an amazing musician, hilarious and thoughtful. He was wonderful.
I loved Mike and Amy's Hometown holiday event. It was a blast. However, dinner times were not clearly posted on this event and we missed that part. Boo!
Mike & Amy's Hometown Show was an excellent program for the entire family. Presenting the up and coming star, Brittany was an excellent choice of hometown talent at its best. The Cub Scouts and the Youth Choir stole our hearts. AND we would love to make JAKE, our Honorary Hometown Son. I've been a fan of Jake's for over four years. He is not only a Nashville Star, but more important he's a Portland Star.
It was great to see a fun, festive variety show! It had kids, comedy and a great performance from Jake Owen. Being in a small setting made it feel more personal and Jake really played to the crowd. Mike & Amy were great, even Amy's daughter helped out with the event. Its a fun holiday evening and we'll be back next year!
