    Jake Freaking Bugg

by SarahOlivia on 1/18/14Sound Academy - Toronto

Jake Bugg was awesome to listen to and watch. Sounds exactly the same live as he does on record. I would definitely go again! Hopefully next time he'll play one or two more songs.

    Young and Talented

    by Emil2dA on 1/16/14Métropolis - Montreal

Jake Bugg @ Metropolis ( Sunday January 2014 ) By Emilio Zaga Mendez Last Sunday, it was a cold and slushy night in Montreal, except if you were inside the Metropolis. A multi-age crowd filled the St-Catherine’s located venue as they waited for the 19-year-old Britain singer. The show started at 8 pm with a good soulful-rock performance by The Skins, a young band from Brooklyn, New York . They were followed by a solid set by Albert Hammond Jr and his band. The Strokes member performed songs out of his latest EP entitled ‘’AHJ’’. The crowd was loving this rock-n-roll night and they were anxious to see rock’s new golden child take the stage .As the lights dimmed at 10 pm , the crowd screamed at the vinyl record Jake Bugg logo that was revealed as the curtains opened. The shy young man showcased his very unique voice with his Shangri La opening track ‘’ There’s a Beast and We All Feed It ‘’ Standing in front of 3 big Marshall amps and accompanied by his 3 man band , Jake Bugg went through his 2 albums catalogue and a Neil Young song for a 1h and 15 minutes performance. The crowd was really energetic as they clapped and sang most of the songs, even if the guitarist/singer rarely talked. He did thanked his Montreal fans at the beginning and near the end . He stays loyal to them as he visited us for the third time in less than 6 months. (Osheaga & Corona Theatre ) His live voice is as good as on the album and he showed some sound diversity with a couple of acoustic versions. However , he was really reserved and concentrated on his craft instead of interacting with the audience in between songs. I really enjoyed the show , I think the Shangri La sound fits him very well and it makes his performances lean towards the old rock sound instead of folk. The driving chords did helped amped up the Metropolis, but Jake Bugg knows how to balanced out both of his styles. I would have had liked to hear more words addressed to the crowd and get some respectful silence from the venue’s bar staff during the acoustic songs , but overall it was a great show. This young kid has a long way to go, and he is being mentor by some of the best : Noel Gallagher, Rick Rubin , Chad Smith, Iain Archer , to name a few . He is being embraced by the young music lovers , as well as the mature ones . I guess good music is timeless and ageless . Don’t miss him next time he comes around. Setlist : 1. There's a Beast and We All Feed It 2. Trouble Town 3. Seen It All 4. Simple as This 5. Storm Passes Away 6. Two Fingers 7. Messed Up Kids 8. Ballad of Mr Jones 9. Pine Trees (Acoustic) 10. Broken ( Acoustic) 11. Simple Pleasures 12. Green Man 13. Kingpin 14. Taste It 15. What Doesn't Kill You (Encore ) 16.- A Song About Love 17.- My My , Hey Hey ( Out of the Blue) (Neil Young Cover) 18.- Lighting Bolt

He sounded great, a lot of energy. Terminal 5 is always tough if you don't get there early and save a good spot. But Jake was awesome.

    Absolutely amazing

by Raneen on 1/15/14Terminal 5 - New York

This was the first concert I've ever been to and I'm worried about going to another because it won't be as great as this was. Jake Bugg was unforgettable, his talent is undeniable and although he doesn't speak much he still has a presence that keeps everyone engaged. He played like three different guitars and he kept switching up the songs, went from first to second album, acoustic to electric and really showed off how talented he is. I was in the front so he looked at me a lot which made the concert feel more real and personal, like it wasn't just a YouTube video. He kept thanking us and it was awesome when he'd stop singing and we'd continue to sing the lyrics. I got to meet and take a picture with him after the concert and although people were bombarding him, he kept his composure and didn't rush. I wasn't excited about the thought of 2 opening acts but they were great and I actually really enjoyed them. I would recommend everyone to go to his shows. Beautiful music and performances.

    Fantastic Live!!

by EGlennon on 1/14/14Terminal 5 - New York

This concert was great. I was able to get to the barrier for the show, slightly to stage right. I wasn't to crazy about the first opener Skins, but the second opener was Albert Hammond Jr. who was amazing; I would definitely love to go to one of his own shows. Jake Bugg's music is more exhilarating live. this concert just made me an even bigger fan. he played old favorites like Two Fingers and Simple as this and surprised me with new favorites from his more recent album Shangri La. I got a set list after the show and was able to get it signed by Jake! the venue was just ok. I prefer the Hammerstein Ballroom, only because it was easier to leave. I hope to go to another of Jake Bugg's shows soon.

    SO IMPRESSED

by loveudamian on 1/14/14House of Blues - boston - Boston

So my friend and I went to see Jake Bugg Saturday night at the House of Blues in Boston. We made sure to get there super early and we were within the first dozen people into the room which left us FRONT AND CENTER right behind just one row of people and it’s like the CLOSEST I’VE EVER BEEN TO THE FRONT, AMAZING!!! The Skins and Albert Hammond, Jr. were the openers. I was super impressed with The Skins, they had a presence, the lead singer was absolutely beautiful and had an incredibly powerful voice,So they were amazingly awesome and impressive and a great way to start the show. I was a little disappointed with Albert Hammond Jr, every song he played seemed to sound the same and it was so so loud it was making me sick and I had to sit down for most of his set. THEN JAKE CAME ON AND OH MY GOD WHAT A CUTIE. It was him and a bassist and a drummer. He jumped right into There’s a Beast and We All Feed It, then proceeded to blow me away with a better than expected performance. He made several guitar changes throughout the show. Played an array of songs from both albums, and a song I hadn’t heard before surprisingly (Green Man). He played Simple Pleasures and it was amazing, and Simple As This and Broken were also amazing. It was cool to see a lot of people singing along too. During Lightning Bolt he let the crowd sing for a bit.. Hearing Pine Trees live made me really love it, same with Storm Passes away. In a couple songs Jake really got to jam it out on guitar. The bassist and drummer left for a little and Jake played some acoustic songs for us. He left after What Doesn’t Kill You only to return to play Song About Love, A Neil Young cover, and finally Lightning Bolt. After the show I ended up getting a setlist. Then we went and mulled around his tour bus waiting, and then he came out of the back of house of blues and there was just a huge group of girls that swarmed around him and the security only gave him five minutes so that sucked, I tried to get my setlist to him to sign, but no luck, I did get some pictures where I was pretty close to him and he was wearing this dorky cute fur lined hat and what a cutie. Then he was escorted to his tour bus and my friend and I crossed the street and were across from the window on the tour bus where he was sitting so the two of us started dancing around and waving our arms like a couple of fools until he finally looked up and HE WAVED AT US AND SMILED!!! Overall, super duper pleased with this experience!!!! Jake sounded absolutely amazing live, better than expected, he played well, and was very humble and polite both during and after the show. Would love to see him on his next tour!

    Kid Killed It

by SillyWillyFromNY on 1/14/14Terminal 5 - New York

Even keeled blend of folk, rock, and country. Kept the audience engaged from start to finish. He seemed genuinely thrilled to be there and the energy came across throughout the show.

    Worth the wait

by WPPat on 1/14/14Terminal 5 - New York

Stood in line in the damp January air for an hour to get up near the front. Enjoyed the opening band "the Skins", while they are a bit young and raw yet, they bring tremendous energy. Albert Hammond Jr. almost seemed out of place in the line-up with such youth (19 or so) before and after him. His band sounded tight though. Jake Bugg, who I saw a few months back, showed up in a more relaxed state, dress and appearance than at Webster Hall. He played for only a bit more than an hour...finishing with Lightning Bolt (No Neil Young cover as at Webster Hall). He ran through his most popular songs, mostly his first album. Broken, the last of 3 acoustic songs was the show highlight as the audience joined in on his escalading WHOOO----OO----OOAS. He is very polite with the audience, perhaps down the road he can share a little more about his thoughts with his audience. Not like Bono or anything....just a little more. For now, we do appreciate the music he has created. One note about the venue.....to those people chatting at the bars during acoustic songs....stick a sock in it.

    70 Minute Show

by GeeTarFan on 1/14/14House of Blues Boston - Boston

Jake is an emerging talent but the 19 year old young buck only had enough testosterone for a 70 minute performance. Giant banner with his name throughout the show but somehow he was unable to introduce the bass player or the drummer -- what's up with that? Huge crowd in attendance....we'll see how many return next time. I know I won't.

Jake Bugg Is A Musical Prodigy!

by JoeJoeMolloy on 1/13/14Terminal 5 - New York

Arrived at Terminal 5 @ 7:30pm. The first band, The Skins, started around 8:15pm, was way too loud, and not an appropriate opening act for Jake Bugg. Totally different style of music (like going to see Barbra Streisand but opening with Ozzie Osborne!). The second band, Albert Hammond Jr. And His Red Lights, started around 9:10pm. Albert should not quit his day job - whatever that is! We saw the back of him more than the front, but I really have complaints about that! Finally, at around 10:10pm, Jake and his delightful band of 2 came out and the mood changed completely! Everyone finally stopped looking at their watches and/or devices and enjoyed the music! Jake was incredible as always! This is my 2nd time seeing Jake Bugg and I'll definitely go again when he visits the area.

    ASTOUNDING

by Emkimchi on 1/13/14Terminal 5 - New York

I was already in love with Jake Bugg's first album but his performance of it was even more impressive. His voice is just as pure and the energy and soul he puts into this performance is wonderful. I will definitely be seeing him in concert again the next time he's in town!!

    Jake Bugg - Phenomenal Performer

by DANATTY on 1/13/14Terminal 5 - New York

This is my second time seeing Jake Bugg this year in NYC, and for a second time, Jake Bugg put on an excellent show. He is an extremely talented vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter, and his set was well put together. Terminal 5 is a good venue, but when Bugg did his awesome acoustic set, the volume at the bar from the drunk, older crowd, was too boisterous to really appreciate it. However, Bugg's energy and emotion really shown through, and songs like Broken demonstrated Bugg's passion. His electric stuff rocked, and Bugg demonstrated his guitar ability that often gets downplayed in his recordings.

    Jake Bugg held his own

by Jtferri on 1/13/14Terminal 5 - New York

Jake Bugg is a new/young/ and very talented musician, but i'm not sure if he warranted a 2 band opening act. overall the show was a bit long. his performance was great, and the sound was on point. He did a nice encore where he obviously closed with his hit song Lightning Bolt

    Jake Bugg is awesome

by knightbefore on 1/13/14Terminal 5 - New York

I saw Jake Bugg Friday night. He has influences of the Beatles, Donovan, Country & Western, Bob Dylan. His music is so much fun to listen to. He mixes acoustic and electric. He is so young, yet he handles his stage presence in such a mature way. He has a mellifluous voice and his acoustic numbers in particular make you pay attention to every note.

    Jake was perfect!

by Kilikells on 1/13/14Terminal 5 - New York

I think that the show was amazing! Truly unforgettable. Jake got on stage, rocked it and sung his heart out. He always thanked the crowd after every song and made you feel engaged. I was lucky enough to meet him and i must say he is very kind, genuine, sweet guy. His performance was one that I will not be forgetting any time soon! I can't wait to see him perform again! Best of luck to him :)

    Jake Bugg canceled on fans

by JakeCanceledOnFans on 11/18/13Electric Factory - Philadelphia

Well Jake. Don't the fans who were going to see you in Philadelphia on Jan.8th deserve to know why you canceled? If it was lack of ticket sales, tell us. There are a lot of brand new fans here in Philadelphia who you are disappointing. I became a fan of yours right before your World Café Live concert in Philadelphia but couldn't go because tickets were sold out. Then, one day, I decided for the heck of it to check TicketMaster again and then I saw you were coming back! I was really happy and looking forward to the Electric Factory concert and now you CANCELED??????

    Jake Bugg was GREAT!

by LA1990 on 10/5/13The Fonda Theatre - Hollywood

I very much enjoyed Jake's performance. He was so professional. He's a brilliant songwriter, musician, and performer. He was polite and very gracious towards the audience and would definitely go see him again if he comes back to Los Angeles. The only issue I had was standing for about 2 hrs waiting for him, but then again the venue was quite small.
