Jacob Collier In Concert
Jacob Collier has long had a voice and talent far beyond his years. The North London, England-based vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, arranger, composer, producer, and all-around music theory prodigy has music in his blood — literally. Collier's mother, Susan, is a music teacher, conductor, and violinist at London's Royal Academy of Music, the same place his grandfather taught. As a kid, Jacob attended The Purcell School for Young Musicians and performed in productions of Mozart's The Magic Flute and Benjamin Britten's The Turn of the Screw.
But it wasn't until Collier began experimenting on his own that his music career took off. At age 17, he began uploading complex music videos that showed every vocal and instrumental part of a song, including keys, strings, percussion, and even as many as 14 vocal harmonies. These impressive videos, featuring covers of songs by artists like Stevie Wonder, Burt Bacharach, and George Gershwin, quickly went viral, enough to get the attention of legendary musician Quincy Jones. Around the same time, a PhD student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Media Lab began working with Collier on a one-man multimedia experience to capture all of his talents at once in a live setting.
By 2015, the then 20-year-old was ready to debut his technologically stunning show, featuring effects like 3D video loops and a vocal harmonizer, in London. Soon after, he took the show to Switzerland's Montreux Jazz Festival, where he opened for Herbie Hancock and Chick Corea, and then onward to stages across the globe.
Already a master performer, Collier soon got to work on his debut album, In My Room, which came out in summer 2016. Just like his shows, the album was all Jacob — he wrote, arranged, played every instrument, and recorded the entire album on his own, all in his family's London home. The following year, two of the covers featured on the album, Stevie Wonder's "You and I" and ‘The Flintstones' theme song "Flintstones," won Grammy Awards for Best Arrangement.
After two-and-half grueling years on the road, including collaborations and performances with orchestras from around the world, Collier took time to work on his follow-up release. He announced that his second album would actually be a four-volume set, with the first volume, Djesse (Vol. 1) appearing in late 2018. Stay tuned for plenty more music from this unstoppable phenom.
Jacob and his band, and the incredible Kimbra, all BROUGHT IT to Philly! Such an inspiring evening. My only quibble was with some of the venue's ushers, who were talking loudly during much of the show. It was very distracting during some of the more quiet, intimate moments.

Jacob Collier is a rare genius. It’s uncommon for a virtuoso performer to also be an amazing composer and songwriter. Mission accomplished! The crowd is almost all musicians and from the first note to the last there is a contagious thirst to sip from the cup that overflows with his creative talent. His compositions cover the musical gamut- cool pop bangers, jazz, afro caribbean, urban contemporary- there’s something for everyone and it’s all performed by a SUPER talented band. I am traveling across the country to see JC again on this tour. He is THE BEST!
Beyond taste and music, Jakob is inspiring for his authenticity and selflessness. His passion for the sound opens the gate for the music to flow through him and connect us together. A prayer for a peaceful humanity, and a reminder of the importance of each one of us. <3
Jacob Collier is a brilliant musician. He incorporated his classical roots, jam and audience participation for a thoroughly entertaining evening in the most incredible place to be a part of the event.

What a privilege to experience the gift of Jacob Collier! He is our Mozart. Amazing. Run don’t walk to get tickets for a show of his anywhere. But Radio City Music Hall made it particularly special.
Jacob Collier is not only a remarkable musician. He is also a great showman, bringing together an amazing band, 3 of whom double as vocalists. That's no small feat with Collier with the crazy tight harmonies he has them pull off. And though I've seen the "audience choir"many times, it was amazing to be a part of it.
Amazing show ! Jacob bring light and love with his music and interact with us because he know we are living the show with him it is awesome ! Everyone singning together will stay in my heart ! His talent and music is just wow :D
WHAT.A.SHOW!!! Simply breath taking. Jacob’s a genius. The detailed nuances, the music arrangements, the stage energy, the harmonies, the colourful light show, the musical interactions with the audience, the control!! Every musician on stage including the vocalists are so great they each could have their own show! I’ve been following Jacob for a while and when I saw he was coming to Montreal I jumped on the tickets. Am I ever glad I did! I brought my wife, my mom and mother in law with me and we all share the same sentiment. BRAVO!!
A couple of hours of simply amazing music. Only downside was $15.55 for a can of beer. Shame on you, greedy MGM Music Hall
The MGM theater in Boston was spectacular! Everything about the concert was phenominsl. Never miss a chance to see his show!
this show couldve been a religious experience tbh. actually wild instrumentals and vocals, and incredible set and lighting design to top it all off
We had great seats at the rail otherwise known as nosebleed seats but truly we were very comfortable. Jacob collier is amazing, the band is amazing, the set, the lights…,not one sorry thing to say about the whole evening. Masterful indeed!
Good experience moving through the theater and finding our seats, the staff was helpful. The sound was good overall enjoyed the experience thank you. 👍🏾
This was my second Jacob Collier concert! I took my little sister (it was her first ever concert) and we both loved it! We got general admission standing and were pretty close to the stage. Jacob is insanely talented and kind and makes the concert fun, exciting, and interactive. I plan on seeing him again next time he’s in Boston!
Simply one of the best live performances I have ever seen.
I have never seen an artist pour so much love into every single aspect of a performance, and to have the crowd so connected it was absolutely beautiful. Venue was a lil awkward, had to sit sideways in my seat to watch, wasn’t allowef to stand…definitely hard not having a dance party.
A really immersive and interactive experience. The audience choir was really cool and Jacob came back not once, but twice for amazing callbacks! Loved it!
