Jacob Banks In Concert
If London's Jacob Banks feels like he's losing himself on stage, he is, but he's also finding himself. He's losing himself in the emotions that he was going through when he wrote his songs, just as much as he's been finding himself on the journey from Nigerian-born immigrant to performer on the world's biggest stages like Coachella, Lollapalooza, and Afropunk Festival. His gorgeous, husky baritone was on full display during his ‘Later...With Jools Holland' BBC Two television performance of "Unknown (to You)"; eyes closed, pensive, his voice ranging mightily. Backed by Jools himself on the grand piano, Banks was visibly digging deep to that original moment of heartache, longing, and self-discovery, while leaving it all out on the table. "My approach to being onstage is this: You've given me your time. Time is the only currency that matters to me. Money can be replaced, anything else can be replaced, but time, if you choose to come see me, if you choose to spend your 30 minutes or an hour or whatever it is, and you've given that time to me, I will put anything aside and give you a good show," Banks told NPR. While he has supported acts like Alicia Keys and Sam Smith in the past, his second headlining tour comes to the U.S. in 2019. Expect all the feels.
Jacob Banks Background
Born in Nigeria, Jacob Banks moved to Birmingham, England, when he was 13. He started making music at 20, and his dancehall-rhythm-tinged R&B bubbled up on three notable EPs, plus he was a featured singer on singles from Chase & Status and Wretch 32. In 2014, he became the first unsigned artist to appear on BBC Radio One's "Live Lounge," and he's an avant soul contemporary of acts like Seinabo Sey and Nao. He's claimed a number of placements on TV shows, and video games like FIFA 15 and Dirt 4. Banks signed to Interscope in 2018 and released his debut LP, ‘Village,' featuring the hit single "Chainsmoking" as well as tracks featuring Sey and Bibi Boureilly.

The venue of Big Night Live was insanely good. Every string and strum of guitars came out clearly. Jacob Banks sounds better live than on his records so that was a great thing to have also. I will definitely sign up for more concerts in that venue. Do yourself a favor and make a date night out of that place!
Great concert! Jacob is so talented and his opener Meg Mac blew us all away. Jacob, Meg and their bands really know how to put on a great show.
This was one of the best concerts I’ve ever been to - he’s one of my favorite music artists (his voice! his lyrics his style) and this was such a great venue - so intimate and relaxed. I was in the boxed seat section and so plenty of room/people weren’t on top of you/distanced.
Jacob Banks is one of my favorite music artists - his voice his style his lyrics HIM! And the venue Big Night Love is such a great venue - I had never been but looking forward to going back. I hope Jacob comes back again!
Jacob Banks is a powerful performer with a beautiful voice and an utterly humble personality. Incredible experience that moved me to tears
A night I will never forget!!! Soulful performance 🎭
The Kings Theatre in Brooklyn is the most beautiful venue I've ever been to. Staff were friendly and helpful. The support act was good. Jacob Banks was fantastic! He has a beautiful tone to his voice and an amazing range. He did not disappoint, although there were some songs missing from the set list that I would have loved to have heard. I'm so glad he was in New York when we were and I'm looking forward to him touring the UK.
Great experience seeing Jacob Live. It was mesmerizing and soul moving to hear and see him at his craft. I will definitely see him perform again. Minus one star because the venue (Kings Theater) changed our first row balcony seats to orchestra seats without prior notice. I would have requested a refund had I known this would happen. Orchestra is NOT the best seats in the house unless you’re sitting in the very first row. So, I NEVER sit in orchestra because people in front just can’t see to keep their bottoms in seats to allow others behind them to also enjoy the show. My view was blocked the moment Jacob Banks took the stage (I cannot stand due to injured knee). One of the ushers saved the day by moving me forward mid-showcase. I will never return to Kings.
Everything was a great experience except for the parking. It was very hard finding where we parked at while being drunk lol!!
An amazingly solid concert at one of the best places to hear music. Sultry sounds and a good crowd. Mr.Banks is good in this hood! Hope to see him make his way back over here soon, and even then it would have been too long!
Such a beautiful Theater. The sound was great. Seats are comfortable and the seats are individual and have armrests for every seat. It was such a breeze getting in and seated. Jacobs Banks gave a fantastic performance. His voice is so unique and so powerful. I am a fan of great voices and Jacob is certainly one of the greats. Gee.
So happy to have been at this awesome concert. The venue was gorgeous, the opening act was great, and Jacob Banks was stellar. His voice is stunning: unique, powerful, beautiful. I loved every moment of this experience!
Excellent singer the environment was great. I only have good things to say I can say it a few words but Ticketmaster wants a long story about the experience I
Vibes! Music! Genius! He just really does something to my soul ❤️
Jacob Banks gave such an amazing performance and the venue was beautiful. Overall great experience
The venue. The music. The vibe. It was almost spiritual. THIS is why I love live music.
Jacob Banks sounds even better live than recorded! His performance was engaging and fun. He had a live drummer and guitarist who were insane and Jacob played all of his best stuff. Sometimes, artists try to do too much in an attempt to make the performance memorable but instead it feels like a circus. Jacob Banks kept on clean, mature and enjoyable. I loved every minute. I’m not one to see a performer more than once but I will be seeing Jacob Banks again.
Seeing J Banks and Mac Megan live was my 1st time and every minute, every JB song that had the crowd singing along made me so glad I snagged them tickets. Until the next time.
I had high expectations and Jacob Banks did not disappoint! Meg Mack was incredible as well and an excellent addition to the show!
