Jackson Browne has written and performed some of the most literate and moving songs in popular music and has defined a genre of songwriting charged with honesty, emotion and personal politics. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004 and the Songwriter's Hall of Fame in 2007.
Except for a brief period in NYC in the late 1960s, Jackson has always lived in Southern California. His debut album came out on David Geffen's Asylum Records in 1972. Since then, he has released fourteen studio albums, four collections of live performances, two "best of" compilations, two DVDs and several single recordings. Jackson's newest studio album, "Downhill From Everywhere" was released in July 2021 and GRAMMY nominated for Best Americana Album.
Browne is known for his advocacy on behalf of the environment, human rights, and arts education. He's a co-founder of the groups Musicians United for Safe Energy (MUSE) and Nukefree.org and a member of the Ocean advocacy group, Ocean Elders.
In 2002, he was the fourth recipient of the John Steinbeck Award, given to artists whose works exemplify the environmental and social values that were essential to the great California-born author. He has received Duke University's LEAF award for Lifetime Environmental Achievement in the Fine Arts, and both the Chapin-World Hunger Year and NARM Harry Chapin Humanitarian Awards. In 2004, Jackson was given an honorary Doctorate of Music by Occidental College in Los Angeles, for "a remarkable musical career that has successfully combined an intensely personal artistry with a broader vision of social justice."
High energy. Good mix of remembered songs & unfamiliar ones. Wonderful break from the real world!
Spectacular artist with one of the finest bands around. Always on his game. Very appreciative of his audience. As a venue, the Pantages is one of the very finest around.
Jackson Browne gave an amazing nearly three hour performance at Pantages. A special treat was that Mr. Browne played two Warren Zevon songs, in a set list that featured his hits, some deep tracks, and even requests. Mr. Browne has a fantastic band, and his voice is still strong. I was particularly touched by “The Pretender,” a masterpiece lyrically and musically.
It is not often that you are in the presence of greatness. It is even rarer to be in that presence coupled with humility. Jackson is one of the founders of the sounds of the Laurel Canyon incarnation and beyond, yet you'd never notice due to his being so down to earth and of the people. Musically, he is on the top of his game still. Add to that his humor, sincerity, graciousness and generosity, well, you have all the makings for a priceless experience. Oh. And his band was pretty great too!
It was a wonderful evening. The venue was comfortable, and the parking at 1616 Argyle was well lit and easily accessible. I love listening to Singer/songwriters, they have so much to share, and their music evokes so many memories. Jackson and his band gave us their all and more that night.
I must admit I wasn’t a huge Jackson Browne fan prior to this concert. Mostly because I wasn’t familiar with his total body of work. His presence and interaction with the audience made you feel like you were sitting in his living room sharing an evening. He’s like a musical encyclopedia sharing stories and information about songs and people that made the experience all the more richer. He played a selection of music ranging from the familiar hits to more personal less well known songs but all of them were flawless. The band was superb, the venue was great and his voice was strong as ever. I am so glad I saw this rock icon and had one of my more memorable concert experiences.
The concert at Pantages Theater was great. Jackson played for about 3 hours, which included an intermission. His comments between songs added to the experience and made it feel more personal. The band was outstanding, with each member doing great solos and keeping true to the JB sound and style. I traveled to see this concert and would do it again. I am hoping JB performs for many years to come. He certainly has a lot of devoted fans.
I’ve been going to concerts for 50+ years and this one stands out as one of the best. Certain music is timeless and Jackson Browne did not disappoint!
What an amazing artist Jackson Brown is! It was my first time seeing him live and I was blown away. I hope to see him again soon.
Best concert of the 10+ of his I’ve seen. Gave a lot of background and history of songs.
Thank you, Jackson Browne for another fantastic show! Your soulful, thoughtful songs are always inspiring.
Jackson Browne gave such a fantastic performance and had stories to share about his songs. He engaged the audience and the venue was so beautiful ,fit for the performance, It was absolutely a great experience overall.
Jackson's voice is still as strong as ever. He played a great combination of newer and his classics. His banter with the crowd makes it fun. The band is incredible and tight, they killed it. Also, the venue, the Pantages......perfection!
We have seen Jackson many times in many different venues. It’s always great and he is always authentic and engaging. But there was something very special about this night both the setting the sound the venue, but particularly this song, selection and presentation. His voice was remarkable, and the band was tight as a drum. Really one of the best concerts I’ve ever seen.
Jackson was nostalgic and played all the favorites…lots of sing alongs amazing back up singers! Great guitarists!!
Jackson Browne was amazing both nights we went. 2 generations of fans went away floored. Can't wait to see him again. Was a most memorable show/shows. Awesome band and supporting singers also. Highlight was finally hearing "Something Fine "live and so perfect. The whole night was.
Not many concert goers get to seen back-to-back Brown(e)s. After attending Zack Brown on Friday and Jackson Browne on Saturday I had an incredible weekend of music. Although the concerts were very different Zack lived up to his incredible performance as always as I have seen him six times. It was my 1st Jackson Browne concert as he is one of my all-time favorites and one that I have never seen live for 50 years. Seeing him at the nostalgic Pantages Theatre in Hollywood and the fans love of one of the greatest local songwriters and performers was overwhelming and so was the concert. I can finally say I've seen Jackson Browne at his "home court twice"(went again on Monday!)
Jackson Browne is an amazing artist and he put on an amazing show. The venue was terrific and the sound was perfect.
It’s nice to see someone in concert who you can really enjoy listening to. Although he has aged, the voice is still there, the desire to entertain, and really make the audience happy too. He really seemed to genuinely enjoy interacting with the audience, and showed his flexibility. On more than one occasion when people called out song names, he stopped, said okay, put down his guitar, walked over to the piano and played the request. Members of the band are very talented, and really complemented him as well.
Jackson is better than ever Pantages is great — acoustics clean staff Jackson does right amount of talking Just be careful of homeless 2 blocks away
