Jackopierce hasn’t missed a beat or lost a step. This intimate venue was the perfect opportunity to relax and reminisce of a time where good music amongst good friends took you away from the hustle, bustle and drama of society leaving you in a much better place than you were entering the tavern. To say seeing Jackopierce is what you have been missing is completely overshadowed by stating it has what you have been needing. See them when you can, everytime you can, and bring a friend or two.
I went to see I'm With Her and later Graham Nash. House sound was exceptional. Not so with Jackopierce. During the third song of the opening act (don't know their names - couldn't understand when they said them) I went looking for the sound guy. Found someone back stage and mentioned that the sound was way over driven. Between the opening set and Jackopierce the mics were changed. The sound was slightly more intelligible but the levels were way too high. We left after the third song. Too loud and the lyrics were not really intelligible. I hate writing a negative review. I've performed over the years and sometimes it's very hard to make everything work. In this case the sound didn't. Jackopierce was full of energy and enthusiasm. They performed as they should. The sound didn't match. I'm from the Dallas area and they are a hometown band. I was cheering for them. Such is life.
I love, Love, LOVE these guys! I saw them several times when in college, and I REALLY wish I could see them live again. I listen to their music at work quite often, and it never fails.... I end up with a smile on my face, and craving a Shiner. The passion they have for their music radiates into the crowd and you cannot stop yourself from absorbing it.... you end up energized, and singing right along with them!!!!
First time seeing Jackopierce with friends who have followed them since 1994. Great songs, sound great. Great band to see on a good night out.
The best review of a band or performance is probably not from a fierce fan like myself, but the friends we bring to the concert who have never hear of the band. The three guests I brought were blown away and echoed what devotees before and after their breakup have said for years: these guys are too good not to have a bigger name. Jack and Cary's return to indie acoustic performances - two guys with great guitar talent and amazing harmonies - is suiting them well. Their version of Rain was my favorite of the night. This show featured more lead vocals from Jack, a good thing. Considering the Birchmere show was the 4th night in a row they had performed, they seemed to be having a good time and the banter was authentic and hilarious. The "Lice Song" that Cary broke into as Jack explained a recent "situation" his son went through was what fans enjoy: an intimate experience where you feel you can get to know old friends even better. These two still have much more original music in them to write and perform. Don't know when I will see them next, but can't wait.
Going to see Jackopierce has become an annual pilgrimage for me and my best friend. Every show is full of long-time loyal fans. There were several people who were new to Jackopierce at our communal table. I checked in at the end of the show--they were sold. Reminded me why I love live music. This was my first time at The Birchmere. The band sounded great and the size of the venue was good. We arrived about an hour before the show and sat in the middle back section. As long as you avoid the poles- you will have a great experience. I plan to go back next month.
Jackopierce at the Birchmere was great!!! It is such an amazing venue and the show was REALLY good. I forgot just how much I like these guys!
We love to see Jackopierce, especially at The Birchmere, where we can sit back and relax. The show was great, but seemed very short. It was over by 9:00 - is an hour and a half long enough? It didn't seem that way to us! Next year, guys, make it longer!!
Another great performance, 4 straight years for me and my wife to enjoy an hour and a half of excellent music and showmanship at the Birchmere. Already excited about the next concert in a year! Oh yeah Aspen Sept 15th, its going to be a great show - according to the guys.
