About

Best known by the moniker Iron & Wine, Samuel Beam's stunning acoustic guitar and quiet voice once again made waves with the release of Ghost on Ghost, his fifth studio album. This largely experimental record delves into the supposedly disparate worlds of pop, R&B and jazz, meanwhile proving the singer's impressive versatility. The accompanying tour schedule included several appearances throughout the United States, as well as a handful in Australia. As usual, Iron & Wine showed no problems selling tickets, with fans anxious to experience both new singles and classic tracks. Ghost on Ghost came as a welcome followup to Kiss Each Other Clean, which similarly represented a departure from Beam's typical acoustic style.

Beam's musical endeavors as Iron & Wine began in 2002, when he released his first album, The Creek Drank The Cradle. This entire collection was recorded in Beam's home studio and mainly featured vocals, acoustic guitar, slide guitar and the banjo. Iron & Wine later followed up with Our Endless Numbered Days, which was recorded in a professional studio. Later albums included 2007's The Shepherd's Dog and the 2011 release Kiss Each Other Clean, which peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard 200 charts. Following the release of these later albums, Beam took part in multiple concert series, showing off a live voice that was just as gentle as what fans had heard on their favorite Iron & Wine albums. Although a handful of different instruments are incorporated into the Ghost on Ghost promotional tour in hopes of better reflecting Beam's journey into jazz and pop, the same poignant feel of this brilliant musician's tracks is always maintained for the sake of dedicated listeners.

  • The show to complete your concert bucket list

by Eric indie on 6/28/24Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

His voice is as dulcet in real life as on his best album. He’s a gentle performer with light conversation and soulful songs. He did a nice mix of his newer and classics.

  • Stunning experience, top 5 shows ever

    by Brian K on 6/28/24Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

You either get it your you don't, but every moment, from hushed silence from the crowd listening to stage humming competing with the subtle blow of the AC vents, to viscerally resonant blasting of 10 instruments roaring, this show was incredible. Tapping the subconscious and rendering shockingly powerful imagery through sound like a sparking electric eagle's cry, this is an experience one needs to have. Refined, expertly crafted, distilled, concentrated life, full spectrum.

  • Disappointed

by Jessie on 6/25/24Paramount Theatre - SeattleRating: 2 out of 5

Couldn’t hear the vocals and the band couldn’t get their flow together. Some of the songs were so off, they were hard to recognize.

  • Loved Amythyst even more

by SLC on 6/23/24Paramount Theatre - SeattleRating: 4 out of 5

Loved Iron and Wine, but even tho I was sitting fairly front and center, I couldn’t make out what he was saying. I thought, even tho I have pretty good hearing, maybe my it’s not so good. But then I found out, either could my 32 yo niece follow what he was saying. Which took away from our total enjoyment. The lighting, the instrumentation, and orchestration were fabulous. I was especially entranced with the show going on on the big screen behind the musicians with the old fashioned light projector and paper cutouts, other objects, branches and pieces of nature, dancing and moving across the screen. Spectacular. But was I totally blown away with the opening act: Amythyst Kiah. What a powerful and moving voice. I’m definitely a new fan. Loved her passion which came shining thru and her songwriting and music!!

  • Music and cinema!

Iron and Wine always delivers a great show. Manual Cinema visuals made it stunning!

  • Underwhelming

by Bh on 6/23/24Paramount Theatre - SeattleRating: 3 out of 5

Love iron & wine but felt this night was not the best. I didn’t love the new songs he played so for me it was disappointing. Left early- but may have gotten better!

  • Amazing Music

by Wshaw78 on 6/22/24The Union - Salt Lake CityRating: 5 out of 5

I love hearing bands live in a more intimate setting like this so you can really connect with the artist. The music was amazing. The opening artist, Amythyst Kiah, was so good! Sam Beam is very interactive with the audience and also very humble and funny. The whole band was amazing. Great concert!

by EZJ on 6/21/24The Union - Salt Lake CityRating: 5 out of 5

Beautiful music and an amazing creative projection show. I enoyed it very much. Being old it's hard to stand too long but we did it. It is a great venue.

  • UPAC great venue for concert

    by r.h. on 8/1/23Rating: 5 out of 5

Sam Beam (Iron and Wine) was wonderful. Performed some oldies and some newer songs and his voice was smooth as silk - as always. It's amazing how much sound he gets out of his guitar. It sounds like he has a band with him. If you can see Sam, do it. You will become a fan.

  • Eh...

by Lo on 7/31/23Rating: 3 out of 5

Show started off great with "Trapeze Swinger"(my favorite) followed by a random mix of songs running into each other. Audience members were buttheads - yelling out songs they wanted to hear and messing with Sam's mind (as he had a setlist ready). Venue was really nice and small, super intimate. No parking near venue is a bummer.

  • Good performance, poor sound quality

by JT on 7/31/23Rating: 3 out of 5

Iron and wine is always a pleasure but something was off. Lighting was painful (the whole crowd winced and groaned each time the floods came on) and the sound quality was bad. Tinny and muted. Very little merch for sale, perhaps because Calexico didn’t turn up.

  • Super performance!

Great connection with the crowd! Super story teller with captivating charisma. Will try to see again.

  • Phenomenal

by Brittany Booker on 4/5/22The Charleston Music Hall - CharlestonRating: 5 out of 5

I’ve seen only one other solo artist that can command the stage like this artist. Just a man and his guitar. No gimmicks, no auto-tune, no fancy lights yet at times you could have heard a pin drop as we held our breath for his next note. If you’ve never seen Iron & Wine in concert, you need to!

  • Not good

by Angelo on 4/5/22District Live - SavannahRating: 1 out of 5

Not my thing. Didn’t think he was any good. Wanted to check his music out. Tried to give it a chance but just wasn’t impressed at all. He sucked!!

  • You wouldn’t let us remove our listing

by Wesley on 4/5/22The Charleston Music Hall - CharlestonRating: 1 out of 5

Hi, We tried everything we could to remove our tickets from the listing for sale. We wanted to give them to a friend. Your customer service is horrible and non existent.

  • Talent with Personality

by Wayne B on 4/5/22The Charleston Music Hall - CharlestonRating: 5 out of 5

The performance was fantastic and the venue was perfectly suited for this show! The song writing and musical acumen is stellar to be sure...with a local whit that is grounded and inviting. Don't miss this Tour!

  • Excellent experience at Ponte Vedra Beach Music Hall

by Karfrea on 4/2/22Ponte Vedra Concert Hall - Ponte Vedra BeachRating: 5 out of 5

Great night of entertainment seeing Sam Beam/Iron & Wine in such an intimate setting. The size of this music hall is part of the charm because the performer can connect with the audience so much better…..and IT WAS A TOP NOTCH PERFORMANCE!, Sam was so personal and funny, and he blew us away with every song sung….So talented. We also liked his opening act , her last name “No” who played guitar & harp. A fun relaxed night ….no traffic, easy parking, great intimate entertainment…..what more can u ask for?

  • Great Show!

by DAP on 4/2/22Ponte Vedra Concert Hall - Ponte Vedra BeachRating: 5 out of 5

I’ve seen Iron and Wine twice - several years apart. Once with a band and this concert just with Sam Beam. Both were excellent. Highly recommend the show to anyone. The venue is ok …. Good sound and size but the seating is poor. Just straight back chairs crammed together. It would be much better if they installed theater seats with gentle risers. I’d rather pay more for better seating.
