One of the best concerts I've been to!

Best known by the moniker Iron & Wine, Samuel Beam's stunning acoustic guitar and quiet voice once again made waves with the release of Ghost on Ghost, his fifth studio album. This largely experimental record delves into the supposedly disparate worlds of pop, R&B and jazz, meanwhile proving the singer's impressive versatility. The accompanying tour schedule included several appearances throughout the United States, as well as a handful in Australia. As usual, Iron & Wine showed no problems selling tickets, with fans anxious to experience both new singles and classic tracks. Ghost on Ghost came as a welcome followup to Kiss Each Other Clean, which similarly represented a departure from Beam's typical acoustic style.
Beam's musical endeavors as Iron & Wine began in 2002, when he released his first album, The Creek Drank The Cradle. This entire collection was recorded in Beam's home studio and mainly featured vocals, acoustic guitar, slide guitar and the banjo. Iron & Wine later followed up with Our Endless Numbered Days, which was recorded in a professional studio. Later albums included 2007's The Shepherd's Dog and the 2011 release Kiss Each Other Clean, which peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard 200 charts. Following the release of these later albums, Beam took part in multiple concert series, showing off a live voice that was just as gentle as what fans had heard on their favorite Iron & Wine albums. Although a handful of different instruments are incorporated into the Ghost on Ghost promotional tour in hopes of better reflecting Beam's journey into jazz and pop, the same poignant feel of this brilliant musician's tracks is always maintained for the sake of dedicated listeners.

One of the most beautiful performances I’ve ever experienced! Sam is also hilarious and so personable with the crowd. Solid 10/10 show.
My partner listens to I&W, so I decided to buy us tickets as a surprise. Prior to the show, I had never listened to an I&W song nor could I name one. After seeing them I understand why. Given my literal first exposure, I am genuinely astonished people enjoy this stuff. Honestly, at times I thought they were f'n around and not being serious. Sort of like a Tom Green or Sasha Baron Cohen act...like you're not totally sure if they are being serious. Perhaps it has to do with brainwaves and such, but I seriously did not sync with any moment of the performance other than when it was momentarily quiet in between songs. I actually contemplated justifying asking for a refund for at least my ticket. It is mind-boggling that so many people appeared excited to see the show. But, I digress. There is comfort I suppose knowing that most everyone at the show had to possess similar brain physiology in order to be drawn to such sounds and thereby to each other. I am just not among them. The venue was cool though, albeit we were sitting directly in front of an air vent and were uncomfortably cold the entire time.
The show was absolutely beautiful. The puppetry with the music added such a unique depth. I’ve never been to this venue before. I felt very secure. Next time I will know to pay extra for seats. I wasn’t feeling well and couldn’t make it through the encores standing so we left early.
Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not a concert goer. I’ve been to as many as the fingers on my right hand, but I can safely say Iron & Wine’s performance was the best I’ve ever had the pleasure to watch. His ensemble musicians are so talented and a blast to watch. Everyone has fun on the stage and it radiates down to the concert-goers. They had shadow puppetry actively going on behind the band as they played and it was amazing!! 10/10 will be seeing him again when he comes back around.
The musical performance was beautiful, and it was nice seeing him with a full band. The visual performance was mesmerizing! We only wish he had played some more of our favorites (Love Vigilantes, Boy with a Coin, etc).
Concert was fantastic. We enjoyed hearing Jobi Riccio for the first time. Iron & Wine were amazing as expected. Manual Cinema added the perfect touch to the music. This was our first time at the venue which was beautiful and enjoyable.
What a laid back groovy concert. The sound was beautiful and lulling. The harmony was so peaceful and the crowd was watching and enjoying the concert like they were all long lost friends. Very enjoyable evening.
I'll admit that I'm not a huge fan of Iron & Wine but I certainly do enjoy his music. For me, it wasn't worth the price of admission. He has a great voice and it's good live. It's just, he's sitting the entire time with his guitar, no other instruments or background music. It was like an above average performance of a guy singing with his guitar at the bar. Nice, but nothing special
We love Iron & Wine and have been to see them in concert a couple of times before. This time they did this really cool shadow puppet storytelling thing called manual cinema 🎥 I loved it!
Such a good show, amazing show and amazing artist. Would gladly see him again soon
Such a great show. He blends a vocal gift with a polished musical talent to bring to life incredible lyrics and an incredibly beautiful and haunting esthetic vision. The warmup band was an abomination but still a great show
Iron and Wine put on a great show in Philly with crystal clear sound and cool visual projections . Also their opening band was good . However the policies of the Fillmore are substandard as were the fans who wound up sharing our VIP Box. The only way I could buy a seat for the show was to buy a 4 seat box. As we couldnt find friends who could go we wound up selling two tickets. I sold the seat 3 & 4 tickets as the seating chart on TM showed seat 1 & 2 in the front of the box and seats 3 & 4 behind. When we got to the show the other people were already there and had situated themselves in the front of the box with the table next to them also in the front, thus blocking us from having any access to the front of the box. When I commented about seat numbers they simply state there are no seat numbers. It was an unfortunate situation to be seated with such inconsiderate people. Then the box next to ours was completely empty for the whole opening act and for the beginning of the Iron & Wine set, so we grabbed a couple chairs there and finally we could see..but after awhile an usher told us we had to return to our box or we could buy seats in that box. So we moved back, but it seemed rediculous because no one was sitting there. Anyway, it was sad that the inconsiderate people and the venue policies hampered our overall enjoyment of a great singer songwriter and band.. The venue should either number the seats in the boxes, or make it clear that seating in the boxes is first come first served basis.
Iron and Wine is always brilliant. He now adds a live video dramatization of his music that is so creative and truly adds to the experience. The Filmore is a good venue. We did pay a premium to be able to sit down, but the place is clean and there isn't a bad seat in the house. Just know that it is standing room only, unless you pay ($60 to $100 per seat) a premium.
Outstanding musicians and backing vocals! Beauteous songcraft.
As an Iron & Wine fan I wasn't disappointed... aside from the wolf eating the rabbit 😃 I wish I had done my homework on the opening act and skipped it. Other than that, it was a great evening
No complaints on Iron & Wine - one of our favorite artists to see live and he never disappoints! We liked the opening act, Rosali, as well. Also we appreciated the talent of the shadow puppeteers, but found the display a little distracting. A comment on the venue - Meymandi Hall at the Martin Marietta Performing Arts Center in Raleigh, NC: The floor actually appears to slope downward from the stage through about Row H before it starts to slope upward, so if you're sitting close, the person in front of you will be slightly above you, not below. Not great for the line of sight.
Iron and Wine far exceeded my expectations! Just in awe of everything, obviously Samuel was phenomenal but the drummer, Beth Goodfellow, was incredible! I couldn’t keep my eyes off of her. The shadow puppets were a unique addition that fit so well. I can’t wait for the next show! I could see Iron and Wine over and over again!
I went for the Iron & Wine concert and it was awesome. There was an issue with the ticket scanners but, staff handled that quickly and with kindness. The hall was great because no matter where you sat you could see the performer as well as feel the music. The acoustics are on point. Overall Kayli and Iron & Wine were enthused and engaged in their hometown shows. It was a great experience and would absolutely recommend.
Iron & Wine gave a wonderful show with interesting visuals. Sam Beam has an amazing voice. The only disappointing part of the show was the warm-up band. They had obviously not done a sound check and kept fiddling with their sound system the entire time they played. It was extremely distracting aside from the fact the sound was bad. While the singer had a good voice, she had no stage presence and the band's instruments drowned her out. She and the rest of the band made little effort to connect with the audience. I couldn't make out any lyrics. Finally, the guitarist's "heavy metal"riffs were grating and incongruous with the genre and the singer's voice.
