About

Best known by the moniker Iron & Wine, Samuel Beam's stunning acoustic guitar and quiet voice once again made waves with the release of Ghost on Ghost, his fifth studio album. This largely experimental record delves into the supposedly disparate worlds of pop, R&B and jazz, meanwhile proving the singer's impressive versatility. The accompanying tour schedule included several appearances throughout the United States, as well as a handful in Australia. As usual, Iron & Wine showed no problems selling tickets, with fans anxious to experience both new singles and classic tracks. Ghost on Ghost came as a welcome followup to Kiss Each Other Clean, which similarly represented a departure from Beam's typical acoustic style.

Beam's musical endeavors as Iron & Wine began in 2002, when he released his first album, The Creek Drank The Cradle. This entire collection was recorded in Beam's home studio and mainly featured vocals, acoustic guitar, slide guitar and the banjo. Iron & Wine later followed up with Our Endless Numbered Days, which was recorded in a professional studio. Later albums included 2007's The Shepherd's Dog and the 2011 release Kiss Each Other Clean, which peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard 200 charts. Following the release of these later albums, Beam took part in multiple concert series, showing off a live voice that was just as gentle as what fans had heard on their favorite Iron & Wine albums. Although a handful of different instruments are incorporated into the Ghost on Ghost promotional tour in hopes of better reflecting Beam's journey into jazz and pop, the same poignant feel of this brilliant musician's tracks is always maintained for the sake of dedicated listeners.

  • Good music; weak venue

by Rosebud on 7/22/25Thompson's Point - PortlandRating: 2 out of 5

Enjoyed the music at this show, but the venue leaves a lot to be desired. The website info is confusing and off-putting. Parking information is hard to follow in particular. The show area is a flat, dirt space with no seating, airplane noise from nearby PWM, and highway noise from I-295. Virtually every free venue I have been to is much better. Pay venues need to be much better than Thompson Point. Don't be fooled by the waterfront location. Its a nice view for the performers, but the patrons have the ocean behind them. The food trucks were ok. I'm With Her put on a good show--their fans deserve much better. No wonder Live Nation sees an opportunity to launch a new venue in Portland!

  • Hottest Indoor Venue

All three bands were great but the venue had me sweating.

  • Worst concert ever!

by Metz on 7/14/25Taft Theatre - CincinnatiRating: 1 out of 5

I'm a very faithful fan of "I'm With Her"(and each individual therein). I was astonished that they were 2nd billed to whoever "Iron & Ice"is. IWH came on and did a great set. Then we were assured they would return. So, we had endure I&I. Whoever told this guy he has talent played a sad joke. Finally IWH came back and did some un-inspired simple songs (as basically backup singers) to him. We were VERY disappointed. Whoever matched this tour up made a huge mistake. The young girl who was the opener also was un-talented and screamed (she did not sing). Clearly the worst concert I've ever attended. Now I have to double-think whether I would go to another IWH gig. Really, to have such talented three ladies up there and ruin it by teaming with these others. UGH... I'm a musician, so I DO know music and we did not get much that night other than IWH.

  • "I'm With Her"-- so talented!

by Diane on 7/14/25Taft Theatre - CincinnatiRating: 5 out of 5

Loved this concert! We came from Cleveland to hear I'm With Her and they were terrific. These three women are among the most talented I've seen -- and their performance was perfection. I can't wait to see what they will do next with their amazing talent. We had not heard of the main group, Iron and Wine, but found them to be just okay. The lead has a nice voice but the sound is too "big"for us -- we prefer singer/songwriters, acoustic. The opening group, Ken Pomeroy, was just okay -- but they are young and talented and will come along. Taft Theater was a beautiful venue. The only complaint is with the lighting. The lights in back of the performers were shining directly in our eyes and were flashing at times. Very, very bright. I had to keep my eyes closed for much of the performance.

  • Thoroughly Unique and Creative!

by Kincaid on 4/28/25GLC Live at 20 Monroe - Grand RapidsRating: 5 out of 5

Sam Beam (Iron and Wine) is one of a kind. His writing, composition and performance are like no one else. This show, with it's overflowing creativity, put all of that on display beautifully! I've seen him play solo shows in the past. So, this was a nice change of pace to see him with a band... and what a band they are!! Everyone on the stage was very obviously extremely talented. Absolutely fantastic show!!

  • Incredible visuals and music

Great show! The shadow puppet theater was one of the coolest things I've seen at a concert. Sang a great mix of new and old songs. Two comments directed at the venue/Live Nation 1. The tickets listed 7:00 as the start time when in actuality, that was when doors opened. Almost every other concert lists the actual time that music starts as the start time. Yes, that's usually the opener, but people know that the start time is when music begin begins. The door time versus the start time was not listed in any of the notification emails prior to the event either. I had to click through like four links on the venue page to actually find that the show started at eight. I was there at seven and so had an hour to sit and search for that answer 🙄 2. There is a really squeaky door in the back of the venue that squealed almost continuously as people went out to the bar in lobby. Probably not a huge issue during Lou concerts, but this was a quiet one and it was a distraction from the music

  • A bunch of talented people! The harmonizing was amazing!

Cool place but the seating upstairs was very uncomfortable. Great show.

  • Wonderful

Absolutely wonderful! The concert was fantastic. Sam and his band are just sublime. The addition of the image projection was a lovely touch and experience enhancing. Had seen Sam last year for his first concert of Light Verse tour, almost a year later this new band has become a cohesive powerhouse. Sam played both new songs from Light Verse, old standards and a few ‘deep cuts’…

  • Amazing!

A truly spectacular show! My husband wasn't very familiar with Iron and wine and he was speechless. Can't wait to see him again! Truly talented band members and opening act!

  • Good venue & show, but had visibility issues.

by mattsinkc on 4/23/25Uptown Theater - Kansas CityRating: 4 out of 5

Saw Iron & Wine at The Uptown over the weekend, and the show was fantastic. The venue was a tad chilly, but I'd much prefer that over it being balmy. Sound was great (we were fortunately sitting right in front of the sound booth). My only two quibbles were these: first, entering the theater once the performance (opener) had started made finding our seats difficult. Some sort of lighting indicating row and seat numbers would be helpful on that front. On balance, they did have ushers helping folks find their seats. My bigger issue (literally) was that a guy taller than I am was sitting directly in front of me, completely blocking my view of the central two-thirds of the stage. So, I ended up craning my neck in both directions throughout the show to see. That wasn't fun. If the venue staggered the seats, so that we were each seated in between the guests in front of us, it would help everyone to see better and thus to have a much more enjoyable experience.
