In certain serendipitous cases, a band’s name perfectly encapsulates their essence, and heavy metal rockers In This Moment are a case in point - the sheer power and immediacy Maria Brink’s vocals make it difficult to be anywhere else. Simultaneously vulnerable and snarling, Brink’s emotional growl is a focal point on 2012’s Blood, the band’s 4th – and most successful – album to date. Singles like “Blood” and “Whore” pulled no punches, landing the album at No. 1 on the Billboard Hard Rock chart and cementing Brink’s place as one of the dominant female voices in alternative metal. After forming in Albany in 2005, the band’s 2007 debut Beautiful Tragedy quickly made them a metal festival staple and the opening act of choice for bands like Megadeth and Rob Zombie. Their 3rd album, 2010’s A Star-Crossed Wasteland, was a crossover success, landing at No. 1 on the Independent Albums chart and spawning a hit with “The Promise”. On Tour in 2013, the band has been blowing ticket buyers away with their thundering live concert, pulling fans into the moment with Brink’s commanding presence.
Over the course of their career, In This Moment have played many famous venues to capacity, like Observatory North Park and House of Blues.
One awesome show! I'll be seeing them again in January in fort Wayne.
First band on stage was All Hail the Yeti... they sucked. Second band on stage was Kyng... and they sucked more. Then Motionless in White took the stage and they were pretty awesome. But when In This Moment took the stage it was freaking epic. The lungs on Maria Brink are ridiculously epic. Best show I've seen in a LONG time.
She sounds great live and puts on a great show. She has two dancers on stage and some really cool props.
I took my sister to see Motionless in White at Hob Boston and wasn't expecting to like the show as much as I did! In this moment was so intriguing and I couldn't take my eyes off Maria Brink. They put on a great show!
I've seen this band live 2 previous times and while I didn't think their performances were ever spectacular compared to others, I paid to see them a third time. This performance was one of the worst I've ever seen and I've been to 100+ concerts in my lifetime. They are trying to be something they are not. Their lead singer clearly is trying to be the next Lady Gaga or Manson. This band started out solid with their own way and now they are trying to copy. What a shame. Not to mention the vocals were horrific. The last two songs were the only ones that sounded half way decent. On the other hand, Motionless in White was great and I would definitely go see them again.
I have to say that In This Moment stepped up their game with this show. It is nearly an identical set/theme from last year, but the dancers and the choreography and the set list were much better this time around. Maria seemed to have mastered this set up and also learned to move around on stage a bit instead of just grabbing the skull poles. MIW brought alot of energy to their show and the goth teens in the crowd seemed to enjoy it. They remind me of a heavier My Chemical Romance. If you're into that stuff, you'll enjoy their set. Kyng seemed rather tired and didn't bring much to the show. Technically they are the best musicians in the lineup, but they are lacking in stage presence. Such a shame, as I know they can do better. All Hail the Yeti was your typical opening act, lot's of energy, but little fan reaction as few knew who they were. They were decent, but still have a long way to go.
In this moment was amazing as usual. Motionless in White who I never really heard of was really good. It did take a really long time in between MIW and In this moment but it was worth it.
This band was amazing live! Great sound, vocals, and between set and wardrobe changes, never lost momentum! Cannot wait to see them live again!
In this moment is epic....a must see for any metal head!!!
All bands were awesome!!!! Would definitely go see any of the bands again and probably will.
It was a great time! Intimate, not a bad place to be in there.
took way too long for in this moment to set up the stage compared to the 3 previous bands. Deffinetly was not that great of a performance. Was expecting it to Be a lot better. We drove 6 hours for this and left during the 2nd song. Disappointed is an understatement. You would never think in this moment is the same band if seen live compared to on octane.
This show blew me away! I've been a fan for a few years now and jumped at the chance to see them play live, I was not disappointed. They sounded incredible, the set list was great and Maria Brink was breathtaking to say the least! I loved the show and would love to see them again!!
Excellent show at the Sherman! Small venue great sound and view!
In This Moment put on a great show. Maria brink has a great stage presence.
Before I get flamed, I am a fan. I love metal and have for thirty years. I have seen In This Moment before on the Mayhem tour and and was expecting more along those lines. Balls to the wall adrenaline. But, I am getting ahead of myself... The night started with All Hail The Yeti. They came out to a crowd that was slowly trickling in and put on a thirty minute set of high energy grind-core (they call it no-core). Skylar Feigel beat the drums with such ferocity I could feel it back at the bar. This was my first experience with AHTY, but I don't plan on it being my last. Kyng was next. I saw them last year when they opened for Megadeth on the COUNTDOWN TO EXTINCTION anniversary tour. I have to say, this show was better. The sound was better, the confidence was stronger and they ripped through a 45 minute set like Vikings pillaging a seaside town. Motionless In White were good, but not entirely my bag. They definitely won me over with a great cover of Danzig's "Mother", but I was finding myself having more fun talking with the members of Kyng and AHTY during MIW's set. In This Moment finally hit the stage after I had experienced three hours of high energy music. I had an idea of what to expect by reading set lists from other shows, but wasn't prepared for the theatrics they had planned. "Adrenalize" was a great opener, infusing the crowd with energy. Sadly, it was an ebb and flow through the night. Maria was wonderful during performances and intersong banter, but energy was lost with costume changes between each song. Plus the overabundance of fog from the machines made it harder to get good pics of the band during their set. When In This Moment played, they were tight and exciting. It was the dancers and costume changes and lost time that killed it for me. I'd love to see them again, but would prefer a show focused on the songs and not the visual aspect. As for Kyng and AHTY, I will definitely be seeing them again and hopefully soon!
It took way to long to change out equipment between bands. ITM was way more about the show than the music.
Motionless in white and In this moment were both awesome performers. I was impressed with both bands. Definitely a must see!
Maria's voice and stage presence is absolutely amazing! The band played together effortlessly and rocked so hard!
I love the art they added to the show left a life long impression!
