About

Now starring AMERICAN IDOL winner Jordin Sparks!

Winner of the 2008 Tony Award for Best Musical.

Welcome to the kind of musical that comes around once in a generation. A musical that builds on the best traditions of theater while forging into fresh new territory. A musical about the importance of home, family and finding where you belong.

IN THE HEIGHTS tells the universal story of a vibrant community in Manhattan's Washington Heights - a place where the coffee from the corner bodega is light and sweet, the windows are always open, and the breeze carries the rhythm of three generations of music. It's a community on the brink of change, full of hopes, dreams and pressures, where the biggest struggles can be deciding which traditions you take with you, and which ones you leave behind.

Discover where you belong, at Broadway's new Tony Award-winning classic, IN THE HEIGHTS.

In the Heights ..... Reached the Heights.

by Brakernwood on 1/23/12Lexington Opera House - Lexington

What a great show. The music was exhilarating, the production was excellent, lighting was just right and the fireworks display was very convincing. The sound and diction were second to none. In many of the theaters I often have difficulty discerning the lines at various shows, but the combination of the acoustics at the Opera House and the sound balance were perfect, plus the diction was absolutely great. Well done and congratulations to the entire cast and crew. If you get the opportunity you must go to see this production of "In the Heights". I understand that it will be on tour until June.

    Great show, poor production

by TallahasseeRobert on 12/1/11Tallahassee Leon County Civic Center - Tallahassee

While this is a great show and entertaining, this production is a rip-off. This is one of my top 5 favorite shows, I saw it on Broadway and the first National tour. While the actors in this production all seem to be hard working and good people, they aren't talented enough to be in the chorus of a real production. Almost all of them are overweight which isn't attractive in the tight wardrobes meant for normal stage actors. (Yes, they are supposed to be Latin but still, they are still overweight.) Also, the choreography was disappointing. For the big climax of the song 96,000, while they are all harmonizing they all just walk towards each other into a jumble and then walk away. On Broadway they danced around in a circle creating a powerful moment. Also, the dance moves were weak and some times the actors actually fumbled the landings. Plus, all the music in the first act was played slower than normal. Thus, all the lyrics are sung more slowly and all the dance moves were slower. If you've never seen the show, go see it. The story, music and peak into human nature is riveting. If you've seen the show on Broadway or the first National tour, but on the CD instead and watch a few clips from the Tony Awards on YouTube.

Loved the Spanglish and conversational words. Easy to follow for Spanish students. I enjoyed the youthful crowd as their reactions are so instinctive.

Loved How they portrayed Latinos in a positive light. Despite struggles it showed how important family and communal unity is for us to grow not just for Latinos but for all nationalities. Keep representing!

by Singersmom on 11/15/11Scranton Cultural Center - Scranton

I loved every minute of the play. The energy the actors had was infectious. I have a hard time understanding accents but for the most part I caught every word that was said because they all had such clear diction. The scene changes were seamless.

    In The Heights

by pilar66 on 11/13/11Scranton Cultural Center - Scranton

This show was amazing!! this was my second time seeing it, and although i was a little skeptical since it was not the original cast, i was not at all dissapointed. The tour cast was just as good as the original, and according to my 11 and 17 year old daughters, they were even funnier than the originals!!! Great job and good work showing the world our culture through the eyes of these young people as well as old. The only thing is i was hoping to see the cast at the end of the show and take pictures with them like in NY, but unfortunately no one (the workers) knew if they would come out or not, we waited about 20 minutes but did not get to see anybody coming out.

    Very Entertaining!

by MichelleRob on 11/8/11Broome County Forum - Binghamton

The music was excellent. I would definitely recommend listening to the CD before attending the event as it can be easy to miss the words of the song when it is being sung live. It was obvious that the performers enjoyed every minute on stage and were touched by the standing ovation they received. The voices were beautiful and the dancing was powerful with a definite "latino" feel. What a great way to spend 2 1/2 hours!

In the Heights was alive, cultural and fun!

by CarpsMom on 11/8/11Broome County Forum - Binghamton

The bilingual script was well crafted and while the entire show was understandable to English speaking viewers my college spanish really paid off. There are certain cultural sayings and expressions that don't fully translate. On the money and hysterical. Contemporary flair on an almost timess NYC block. Constant activity on the street kept you visually entertained when listening to the melodic tunes of the slower songs. Some lyrics were overpowered by the pit band but it was wonderful to hear so much brass in an off-Broadway performance. Other than some sound issues and general sound feeback throughout the show the performance was awesome. I want to see what happens next in these people's lives. Even though there are many shows I have not yet seen and plan to see I would definitely see this show again.
