About

Now starring AMERICAN IDOL winner Jordin Sparks!

Winner of the 2008 Tony Award for Best Musical.

Welcome to the kind of musical that comes around once in a generation. A musical that builds on the best traditions of theater while forging into fresh new territory. A musical about the importance of home, family and finding where you belong.

IN THE HEIGHTS tells the universal story of a vibrant community in Manhattan's Washington Heights - a place where the coffee from the corner bodega is light and sweet, the windows are always open, and the breeze carries the rhythm of three generations of music. It's a community on the brink of change, full of hopes, dreams and pressures, where the biggest struggles can be deciding which traditions you take with you, and which ones you leave behind.

Discover where you belong, at Broadway's new Tony Award-winning classic, IN THE HEIGHTS.

    In the Heights

by PhiDeltBri on 7/4/09Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

Overall the show was pretty good, the first half of the show dragged on, as they were setting up the storyline, but the second half was much better. It had hints of humor in it which kept the audience more alert. Also, the voices of some of the actors/actresses were amazing! It's a show worth seeing, although it could be a tad better.

    Worth Seeing

by Savannah on 7/4/09Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

I enjoyed the play's dancing and music. The plot was a little thin but overall a very exciting show. My biggest complaint is that the orchestra was so loud that it was overpowered some of the singing. I also had difficulty at times, understanding a few of the actors. This was also repeated by others in the audience.

It is brilliant. I attended because I got a great ticket price. Highly recommend it. I have no latino or hispanic background but cried during the ENCORES. Loved the dancing and characters. Will see it again.

    A Play for the Times

by Squish on 7/3/09Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

Every generation has it's West Side Story. A story of a people with a dream for the future. How appropos that in this economy along comes a dream of winning the lottery. A dream that so many in today's world are hoping to do. When people of all levels of society are climbing down the ladder of success: a dream to climb up the ladder. It is indeed wonderful that Broadway is adjusting the price of the tickets so that more and more people can see this truly good show. Music with Rap for all ages. talent, great coreography and probably one of the best stage sets I have ever seen. You can see and hear this show from every angle....treat yourself. It's uplifting.

In The Heights was very enjoyable

by NancyB on 7/3/09Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

We totally enjoyed In The Heights. From the first look at the amazing sets to the incredible company, it is a show I would definitely recommend. The women really shine in this production. Mandy Gonzales is a true star. Don't miss this show. My only negative is that I did not leave singing any of the songs (which I usually do when I see a Broadway musical).

    Paciencia y Fe!

by sp29map on 7/3/09Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

Abuela from In the Heights brought me to tears when she sang the song about heat and dreams. She reminded me so much of my own abuela. The show hit so close to home, I loved it! I took my Dad who moved here from Puerto Rico when he was 14, and could totally relate to everything. The music and dancing were out of this world!

An exciting, thrilling, and amazing new show

by bschraid on 7/2/09Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

I saw In the Heights on Wed., July 1st at 2:00 and loved it. The music is phenomenal and the singers singing it are incredible. Lin-Manuel Miranda has created something extraordinary with this musical. The sense of community is beautiful. I love that this show flawlessly and simply inegrates so many aspects of human life and emotions without overdoing it. No song is too over the top, no number is too glittery - the perfect mix for a show. 96,000 was out of this world amazing as well as many other numbers. Highlights of the cast included Javier Munoz as Usnavi - he was excellent!! Robin de Jesus as Sonny - most defintely deserved that Tony nomination! Marcy Harriel as Vanessa and Janet Dacal as Carla. The entire cast was excellent. I loved this show and would recommend it to anyone.

    In the Heights

by Gorda on 7/2/09Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

The story is very real and reminds me of my days in the Bronx, and the piraguas guy reminded me of my father when he sold piraguas. The dancing and the music were excellent.

    In The Heights was Amazing!!

by Missy215 on 7/2/09Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

This was my second time seeing this play. I went a second time to take my daughter and friends as a high school graduation present. They absolutely loved it. The energy that is given off in this play is amazing. The music stays with you after the show. I found that days later i was still humming and singing tunes from the play. I feel that this play is a must see, Lin Manuel Miranda is a genius for creating this. I intend to see the play again in the future.

    amazing voices and music

by gailpfit on 7/2/09Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

One of the best musical. If you like constant singing and dancing, this is a play for you. Although I am not at all a fan of rap music, this just captivated my interest. While telling a common story, each character made you admire their hopes, their dreams of success and their pain of not being able to attain it because of where they live and their background. Olga Merediz has the most amazing voice I have heard in a long time. The dancing and singing just kept everything moving.

I went to see "In the Heights" for the third time and loved it. Every one I have taken to see it agrees. I hope it runs forever so I can go again. The people in this neighborhood are so endearing you just want to hug them!

by TEACHBRONX on 7/2/09Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

I took my 16 year old daughter and her friend from Florida to see "In the Heights". I had seen it off-broadway and loved it. The second time and on Broadway was GREAT for me and the 16 year olds LOVED IT! We were in the orchastra but you can see from anywhere in this theatre with stadium seating. Every theatre should have this kind of seating. Great cast, great singing, wow dancing and story line is universal. Go, Go, GO!
