About Huntsville Havoc
Huntsville Havoc at the Von Braun Center
The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) Huntsville Havoc are one of the most successful teams in the history of the league. They play their games at the Von Braun Center Arena in bustling downtown Huntsville, Alabama, adjacent to Big Spring Park and right off of the historic square. Downtown Huntsville is a haven for craft beer, coffee, dining and the arts, and a stroll through the square is a great way to start or end your Huntsville Havoc experience. Once inside the renovated Von Braun Center, championship hockey awaits you, with Coach Glenn Detulleo’s Havoc team led by players like top-scoring center Rob Darrar, captain Tyler Piacentini and promising right winger Isaac Johnson. Tickets for games are broken down into Bronze, Silver and Gold tiers, with the latter being just beyond the glass. Huntsville Havoc theme nights include a Star Wars Night, a Dog Race weekend, a St. Patrick’s Day celebration and two Alabama BBQ Nights. With well-attended games, the Havoc can boast the best average attendance in the SPHL, and that number has only gone up as the Havoc continue to raise the William B. Coffey trophy.
Huntsville Havoc Background
Entering the league in the 2004-05 season, the Huntsville Havoc are a fixture in the SPHL playoffs. The team won their first President’s Cup in 2010. And in 2018, the Havoc famously became the first fourth-seeded squad to ever win the title. They wasted no time following it up with another, when they swept the Birmingham Bulls in the finals for their second consecutive title in 2019.
The Havoc’s home rink is in the Von Braun Center, a multipurpose facility for sporting events and performing arts in downtown Huntsville. Along with the arena, the complex also features a playhouse, exhibit halls, and a concert venue that is home to the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra and once famously hosted a five-show run by Elvis Presley.
Years since we had been to a game. Son and daughter in law in town. We all enjoyed the game. The dog races were so cute and funny.
Amazing venue. Amazing team. I attended most home games. The third level is the best. The glass doesn't get in the way.
Havoc hockey is so fun to watch. The players are good, but the atmosphere is even better. I go to several games a season and have never regretted going.
Amazing games. Great craft beer. Sit in Section 308.
Love the hav, love the VBC. Just bought season tickets for next year
Havoc hockey games are so much fun. It's a good spot to go to on the weekend when you want something other than dinner and a movie. They have a lot of theme nights and they give away a lot of free stuff. 10/10 would recommend.
Enjoyed all the Hockey game. The Wennie dog races between the periods was very funny and I enjoyed them very much. The Havoc staff always do a great job. Would recommend to anyone who likes a exciting game and enjoys a well run event!
Most games I've been to were great. Reasonable prices etc...This particular night was "Fan appreciation night". Which included even cheaper ticket prices and cheaper concessions. This is where the only hang up to this night came. The concession stands are severely understaffed. They try, but are just completely overwhelmed. I waited until the 2nd period started to go get refills on our drinks in hopes that the lines would have shortened since people were back in their seats. I was wrong. I missed the entire 2nd period waiting in a line 10 people deep. Not happy about that but overall still an enjoyable evening out with the family.
Very economical event and so much fun. Love our VBC!
Most amazing event you could ever go to! I love the Havoc!!
We didn't get there early enough to get a free jersey, so I recommend showing up at least 3 hours in advance if you want one. The house was packed, but that added to the excitement of the game. Overall I legit had a great time. My daughter loved it, and who couldn't ask for a better night than a little mother daughter bonding over hockey.
Great seats, great game, great atmosphere! Would recommend to anyone to get to a Havoc game!
Attended our first Huntsville Havoc game. So much fun we plan to attend another game soon. Really enjoyed the family friendly atmosphere and the between-periods’ activities. Loved when the fans threw toys on the ice for Toys For Tots. Wished we knew about it so we could have brought toys to donate.
Ok seats but really crowded for handicapped access
The venue is a great size so even high up you still have a great view. This was the opening game and the Havoc broke their record of most scores on opening day. Very exciting. Look forward to more games. The seats were comfy too.
Fun time for the whole family great Hockey games would recommend to anyone
Very exciting game, lots of hard hits. Action was exciting and the PA Announcer kept the music rocking!
Havoc hockey games are fun for the whole family. If you haven't ever been, you should go!
This event was great!!! So much excitement. The ninja turtles were there and pizza was $1 a slice!!!!!!!!!! The atmosphere at every game is fantastic!!
Maybe I expect too much. We go to the odd game to support the local team and to entertain our visiting friends. Usually the games are passable hockey. Saturday night March 4th. The visitors were by far the better team and they were bad. Our Huntsville Havoc are kindly described as being terrible. Maybe it will be better next year. We can only hope.
